shen Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Should have got Rijkaard. I'm a bit bemused why he wasn't first choice. Hiddink would surely have put in a good word for him, I'd have thought. It'll be interesting how the players will adapt to Ancelotti and if they can warm to him at all after their big Hiddink love-in...
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Should have got Rijkaard. I was more surprised he didn't get the Milan job. Being an ex player, who did a similar job at Barca, he seemed the perfect candidate.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Doesn't exactly thrill me. Your spelling of the word "rhythm" thrills me. I couldn't care less which big-name manager sits in a little blue chair watching those overpaid twats run around every other Saturday afternoon by the way.
lildave3 Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Your spelling of the word "rhythm" thrills me. Weak! Good lord what was I thinking. Was I in Wales when I typed that? Jeez.

Similar feelings. I just can't stand Chelsea really. The thing is I really like Carlo as well. Would have loved to see him at Roma, his club by his own admission! ££££ Talks.

Darkzzz_ Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Or the chance to actually win trophies? Fair point. His record wasn't great, but Milan piss all over Chelsea in history and just the club in general. In my opinion. God I really do hate Chelsea!!
The Reverend Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Its a strange decision. Abramovich wants flair, wants some style, beautiful football, yet appoints a manager who has been in charge of one of the most defensively minded sides ever seen for the last 8 years. Mourinho was appointed, he was too defensive, Scolari came who was meant to be more attack minded and he was just shit. Has Abramovich learned from his mistakes, learned thats footbals a results business? The thing is, Abramovich never knew how good he had it with Mourinho until he got rid of him. I bet that decision's one of the biggest regrets of his life.
Joe. Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Hopefully it's another Scolari. I don't really understand this appointment to be honest, the man can't even speak English.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 His English seemed decent enough when they showed his interview on SSN earlier.
Joe. Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 His English seemed decent enough when they showed his interview on SSN earlier. Must have been learning from when he knew that Chelsea were interested then. I still think this will end up badly. They were linked with Pirlo in one newspaper today.
ASH17LCFC Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Another Scolari, to be fair though he has got a nice cv in european football which Big Phil didn't. Can see them playing worst football then ever now.
Darkzzz_ Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Anyone who has watched Milan in the last three years would have known that they haven't been able to defend properly, so to call them defensive is ridiculous. Ageing yes!! Although, people seem to think that as soon as you hit 28-32 your suddenly past it. Milan, could will have an exciting front line for next season, Pato has come on leaps and bounds this season, hopefully with Ronaldino and Kaka in form they can have a go in the CL. They do need to make a few signings mind. As for Ancelotti, his English is certainly better than Cappello's. I don't want to say how this reign will turn out, it is easy to sit here and speculate but he is after all managing the modern day Real Madrid in terms of managers. If he doesn't win the charity shield he will probably be sacked.

It doesnt matter if they can defend well or not, if their tactic is to defend and counter, thats their tactic regardless of how good they are at defending. Its in Milans DNA to be defensive. Ancelotti was a former centre half. Ok, maybe now they arent as good a defensive unit as they were (players like Maldini and Nesta cant go on forever you know...), but they are still a fairly effective defensive unit. I just cant see the logic behind Ancelotti's appointment.
Koke Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 I just think this will end in tears, and Roman will give Hiddink a call in February again.

Milan haven't played the way you are suggesting at all this season, they have certainly been a lot more attacking and have been defeated a lot due to their lack of defence. Ancelotti has come unstuck a lot more due to the fact that he can't actually rely on the defence as he once used to. The worst Milan defence I have seen for a long time. Ancelotti was a midfielder by the way...
C-man Posted 2 June 2009 Author Posted 2 June 2009 Unless Ancelotti wins the CL this season, Hiddink will be back after the World Cup, assuming Russia get there.
