Fox You Forest Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Not really that bothered if I'm honest. He's not batted that well due to the injury, and while Bell (if it's him) isn't perfect he could make the runs KP has contributed so far. Best to get it sorted.
Corky Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Shame, but he clearly wasn't fit and not worth risking long-term injury over.
Benji Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Obviously he's a key figure and could pick up a match winning innings just like that. But if Bell comes in and does a job, his absence wont be a big thing at all. I'd be more concerned if it was Flintoff to be honest. He's much more all-round and even though he hasn't got many runs recently, he still can knock up a quick 50 while being an immense bowling asset and fielder. Also, if Strauss, Cook and Bopara step up to the plate he'll be forgotten whereas without Flintoff in the team i'd struggle to see how we could get 20 wickets again in the series.
Ultra Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Pietersen's loss is a blow, but hopefully not a fatal one. It wasn't as if he scored shedloads of runs in the first two Tests. Bell will be an able deputy, at least at Edgbaston.
David Guiza Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Got to change the Fanstasy team again now . It's a big loss in terms of who is he is and the effect he has on the team mentally rather then his runs we will miss i feel. As he had a decent knock in the first innings at Cardiff but other then that what has he done really? Unsure about Bell though can't say i'v seen him to much since the last ashes if im honest . Fosse Boy Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 KP's a blow, but Bell will be well up for it with an Edgbaston crowd behind him. Even Warne admitted the Aussies had team meetings in '05 on how to combat the Edgbaston atmosphere, it really is a massive boost for any England side when they're playing at Birmingham.

Definitely the most atmospheric ground in England.
Edmund Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Kp out since when? Is it just the next test or the rest of the series?
Corky Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Kp out since when?Is it just the next test or the rest of the series? Six weeks, so the rest of this series.
Fosse Boy Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Definitely the most atmospheric ground in England. Hard to argue with that. Went to Warwickshire v Worcestershire in a day-nighter there a few years ago. It was certainly the rowdiest crowd I've ever seen at a county cricket match! County Corner down at Chelmo isn't too bad for banter either. Mark Ramprakash ended up fielding in a sombrero for an over when I went to watch Essex v Surrey earlier this year.

Fosse Boy Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 The Western Terrace at Headingley do a good job as well Wouldn't want to be a Lancashire player fielding on that boundary during a Roses match, that's for sure.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Roo will enjoy this news Not Bothered really i know he is a good player but i would prefer him in so it can't be used as an excuse when we come back and win the series All i hope is that Rudi isn't umpiring the next test. How him and I bucked up Bucknor are still test umpires is beyond me.
Ultra Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 As if you never get dodgy decisions in your favour in Sydney or Melbourne..
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 As if you never get dodgy decisions in your favour in Sydney or Melbourne.. I never actually complained umpiring descions are a fact of cricket. I just think that Rudi and Bucknor are past it as umpires, Bucknor even admited as such in a round about way when he annouced his retirment only to reneg straight away.
Fox You Forest Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Bucknor has always been a clown, get mad man Bowden on the case instead of Rudi.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 They need to extened the international umpiring panel.
Brainy Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 Bowden is in for the 4th & 5th tests. Doctrove has gone home now. It's Rudi and some Asian next.
