markbsac Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 GET IN THERE ENGLAND...FREDIE IS AN ABSOLTE LEGEND...PONTING HARD LUCK BETTER LUCK IN BRUM...YOU WHINGEING OZZIE
Ultra Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Ponting was actually very gracious and dignified in defeat.. He was honest enough to admit that his side had been outplayed over the whole five days, particularly in the first innings. Still a very long way to go in the series. The probable return of Brett Lee next week may tilt the balance slightly more towards Australia.

Ultra Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 I haven't forgotten or forgiven Ponting for his anti-Leicester comments last month. But sometimes you have to give credit where it's due. Talking of which, well done Freddie for stuffing those "alky" taunts back down the Aussie fans' throats. Let's pray he can stay fit enough to play in the rest of the series..

He's ended his Test career at Lords on the sweetest note. Lovely to see.
martyn Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Brett Lee has never really been that succesful against England in England. I'd perhaps be a bit more fearful of Stuart Clark, especially as he has a point to prove having been left out.
Brainy Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 I haven't forgotten or forgiven Ponting for his anti-Leicester comments last month.
TrickyTrev Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Brett Lee has never really been that succesful against England in England. I'd perhaps be a bit more fearful of Stuart Clark, especially as he has a point to prove having been left out. He has a test average of over 30 throughout his entire career; its not like his record against England is anomalous, he's just not a world beater. Good competitive cricketer who will charge in all day and bowl the occasional beauty, but nothing for England to be frightened about. Its not like Warne or McGrath coming back!
martyn Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 I agree with you completely, he has never been a world beater but even so, he has over 300 wickets at 30.8. In the modern era of bat dominated test cricket that is a pretty reasonable record. Against England in England, Lee has taken 29 wickets at 45.44. That is a pretty big discrepancy between statistics.
Corky Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Just for the record: It's England AND Wales and South Africa.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Just for the record: It's England AND Wales. Only when we in though eh?
Fox You Forest Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Anyone else think Flintoff's mrs has a touch of Jolie about her.
