Matt Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 People saying we don't need music when we've scored, sadly we do, these performing monkeys don't know how to celebrate without the music, they don't like change, they don't understand, None of us on here want it, but i'm not sure what is worse embarrassment from the dancing monkeys or embarrassment from the monkeys scratching their heads because there is no music and they don't know what to do.
Gaffer Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 After we scored, I had a few people around me doing a premature monkey climb then having to stop abruptly! It seems to have brainwashed everybody though. When Fire started playing, people were just standing there and half cheering and half clapping, then were straight back down. If goal music was totally eradicated, I can bet that everyone would jump up but be back in their seats before the goal scorer was even announced. So in that respect, I guess the Dagger kept people up and the atmosphere a bit more lively for an extra 30 seconds. The annoying thing is, and I think it's a key point, is that there are probably a good number of people who just associate a goal with that bloody dance rather than it changing the actual scoreline!!!!!!!!! Away games though, it's completely different. You score, go mad and start hugging each other, then it's a mass turn and chant to the home fans, then non-stop singing for a few minutes. Top post. "Away games though, it's completely different. You score, go mad and start hugging each other, then it's a mass turn and chant to the home fans, then non-stop singing for a few minutes." It's the reason why I'm travelling to more away's
markbsac Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 He is so annoying! I would rather watch my wall for an hour than listen to his voice. . The only part of any of his shows that I can remember he was going round the Walkers Stadium actually. what chippie does goks mam and dad own !
Finchy Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 To be honest I didn't think it was THAT bad, so much better than Chelsea Dagger if only because we have an acceptable reason to play it I suppose, it's not just goal music, or atleast when people take the piss we can say that I think there is a long enough gap from the goal to the music for both parties really, the actual goal celebration is dying down when the music starts and it's not as if it's a really long piece of music. I did feel they cropped it in the wrong places tho.
Benji Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Give it a few weeks and people will catch on, doesn't need the goal horn though. Maybe VERY cheesy but I'm surprised Kasabian didn't tweak it a tad to get the word Leicester in there and really make it unique. If it catches on we'll only see it at 10 other stadiums in the next 2 years. Leicester's on fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire. I should be a musician.
Edmund Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 This forum is representative of a particular type of fan. The Fans Consultative Committee has discussed goal music several times, and those of us who want no goal music don't make up 95% of the group. We barely make up 5%. Out of interest how many people are in the fans consultative committee? I still fail to believe this as everyone I know who are Leicester fans who don't post on this forum don't want music as well. I don't think this forum is a representative of a particular fan as there is a large set of fans from all walks of life who cannot all be shoved into one category. People saying we don't need music when we've scored, sadly we do, these performing monkeys don't know how to celebrate without the music, they don't like change, they don't understand, None of us on here want it, but i'm not sure what is worse embarrassment from the dancing monkeys or embarrassment from the monkeys scratching their heads because there is no music and they don't know what to do. Well re train the monkeys. I can understand the younger generation and new fans who accept this but what about the fans from years before? We have only had the goal music since Martin Allen. We coped without it well enough before. I say bring back Republica - Ready to go before kick off as well.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 I say bring back Republica - Ready to go before kick off as well. Definitely, and Blue by Eiffel 65 on the tinny speakers that put the beat out of sync. Those were the days (ish).
Budweiser Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Definitely, and Blue by Eiffel 65 on the tinny speakers that put the beat out of sync. Those were the days (ish). We should sing this before the game?
Benji Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 So long as it's not that shitty remake/remix recent tosh

I think that this forum has mostly a younger fan base, who wishes to be vocal and supports standing. On the whole. You only have to listen to things like the moan in, read the letters pages in the Mockery, or look around the WS when Chelsea Dagger is played to see that those of us who find it embarrassing are a minority. The rest either love it, or don't care. The Committee doesn't have those kind of fans as a majority. Fans on the FCC are picked from different parts of the ground to represent the differing sorts of fans, and most of the members do not read online forums/messageboards. Have to disagree about the Martin Allen thing, to a degree. The club had been playing the PHG after we scored in the Rob Kelly era. But it was Allen who wanted CD.

That's what Tom sung at De Montfort, I'm sure they could edit it in, or wouldn't even take that long to record it - Although they are on tour at the moment. I say bring back Republica - Ready to go before kick off as well. I think we're all just stuck in the good old day of Filbert Street Things will never be the same, and will never be as good.
Joe. Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Add a bit of Robbie Williams Let Me Entertain You and that dramatic classical song they play on X Factor sometimes and you've got yourself a lineup.

Matt Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 I couldn't quite make out whether it was booing or people shouting "HUUUUUME" but they announced before the game this would be the new music, played it then as soon as it finished, either boos or Huuuuume was shouted from the Kop, I think it was probably a coincidental Hume love-in.
Matt Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Add a bit of Robbie Williams Let Me Entertain You and that dramatic classical song they play on X Factor sometimes and you've got yourself a lineup. YES. I'd love abit of classical build-up music, I love it when I hear it played at other grounds.
Joe. Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 YES. I'd love abit of classical build-up music, I love it when I hear it played at other grounds. I really can't remember what it's called though, somebody help me out here.
Halfsy Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Add a bit of Robbie Williams Let Me Entertain You and that dramatic classical song they play on X Factor sometimes and you've got yourself a lineup. And the Post Horn Gallop when we walk out Joe, with no goal music and we're onto a Filbert Street-esque winner!
Edmund Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 @ Fez Could you not use your media contacts and please write a biased anti goal music article for the mercury.

Number 6 Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 There was a whole 5 seconds before the music when people actually celebrated the goal, don't need the music, never have!
Trumpet Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 Can't be bothered to trawl back through this thread but I find it absolutely unbelievable, (or actually do I?) that people on the radio have actually moaned about goal music? And not actually moaning in the direction of "We shouldn't have goal music", but in fact, which "goal music" they play?! Is the music to wake up the West Stand to let them know we've scored? We've picked up an average of 2 points a game so far, we're in The Championship. In fact, isn't this the best spell of form we've had in The Championship since we came down from The Prem last?

What happened to jumping on the seats, scraping your shins when the seat folds up? Jumping on your mates, falling down a few rows? Unfortunately for as long as the dagger plays, you don't tend to get the same feeling inside to do any of those, as the moments killed.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 August 2009 Posted 22 August 2009 @ Goal Music. Epic fail and a lifetime of shame for anybody, young or old, who actually wants us to bring Chelsea Dagger back.
