Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I don't think Muse are that bad. I saw them in about 2001 and thought, if I were 16 this would be the best band ever. But I was a bit too old for them even then. That Matt Bellamy can play guitar, for sure. But he's very ugly and I'm not sure about all the banging on about spaceships and blackholes and that. It's hardly Ziggy Stardust, is it?
ob1kanobe0 Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 KASABIAN have been rocked by a swine flu outbreak on tour http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...-swine-flu.html The Leicester rock lord hehe
Finchy Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Last bets? Still think it may be the Horrors but i'm hoping it's Kasabian, come on lads!
Matt Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Really hoping Kasabian, but think Florence, Which I wouldn't mind, Kasabian or Florence - Any others - Please not. ESPECIALLY - Friendly Fires - Anyone else like me who just don't get that band? There just a band I can't get into find them a very boring, not descript, annoying band for some reason. Kasabian won't win IMO because the big, popular, band just don't win this award.

I hope they win it personally.
Libertine Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Shocker. As long as it wasn't Florence or La Roux I couldn't have given a flying fork. Unless it was BFL.
Joe. Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Jesus, listening to her now I hope she does a Miss Dynamite and fucks off quickly.
Ultra Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 The London glitterati protecting their own again (just like they did with Ms Dynamite) and trying to prove how "inclusive" and "right-on" they are (when in reality they're anything but). Moz is right - the Mercury Prize is a complete charade.
Libertine Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Surely it was expected. Happens nigh on annually.
Matt Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 TBF I think the Mercury Music Prize has lost some credibility and publicity, e.t.c, Still a big and good award to have, but I remember a few years ago it used to be a well talked about award Radio 1 had a special day and tribute to the nominated artists on the day of the awards, There was a full programme on the night on BBC3, not just the prize giving part. None of the this year (And possibly last year, not sure).

It's marginally better than the Brit awards. But that's like saying a bag of sick is better than a bag of turds
Jay Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 I must be in the minority as I don't mind the Speech Debelle, I thought the album sounded pretty fresh and musically had an interesting sound to me!! Speech Debelle winning in my book is also reward for Ninja Tunes/ Big Dada who have done it by themselves and promoted and supported unique independent music for the last 15 years or so! so congratulations to them as well.

Yes Jay. Well pleased for Ninja Tune. If this gets a few more people listening to the consistently original music they've been promoting for years then that's definitely a good thing.
Samilktray Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 She seems pretty cool to me from what I've just been listening to. All the bitching must be because shes not some ghey little indie band mwahahaha. Jay whats her album called?
Finchy Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 All the bitching must be because shes not some ghey little indie band mwahahaha. Or because there is nothing remotely interesting or original about her?
Jay Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 She seems pretty cool to me from what I've just been listening to.All the bitching must be because shes not some ghey little indie band mwahahaha. Jay whats her album called? The album is called Speech Therapy if you have problems let me know Or because there is nothing remotely interesting or original about her? of course there is the lyrics to the album are pretty unique for a Hip Hop artist, the style and instrumentation used on the album is very different to many Hip Hop artists blending together different styles and cultures. Nothing really original about the likes of Kasabian bands have been doing singalong dance/rock crossover music for years Primal Scream, Happy Mondays etc same goes for The Horrors, Friendly Fires etc (and I own all those albums as well)
Samilktray Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Been to my usual place for albums and all I can find is the advance.
Joe. Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Giving this a download now to give the whole thing a proper listen. I see you bought The Road EP as well Jay. Can't complain for £1.79!
IOWFOX Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 anyone listen to jo whiley's show today round serge's? obviously we all know he's a leicester fan but i think this is brilliant love that they put it on the radio 1 site
Matt Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Sounded great, Underdog and Cutt Off acoustically They did a good job on the cover - Gwen Staffani - Sweet Escape, but i'm not a huge fan on the song so wasn't blown away by it. Someone sent in a text asking what they think off Fire as the Goal Music at Leicester they "Love it". They talked about Leicester a few times. Kasabian - Best band around at this current time.
Finchy Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I had no idea Stephen Graham lived in Leicester, that's pretty cool, fantastic actor.
