Lillehamring Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 apparently i quite like this band... absolutely the sort of whiny vocaled indie that normally makes me puke and curse smuts... but i've been listening to a few tracks and they're quite interesting really. even the vocals which are more 'canterbury' than kitsch... just thought i'd get this off my chest.
purpleronnie Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 I went to school with the lead singer. Cant stand the band TBH kind of a joke.
Matt Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 Got the album on my iPod, I've listened a few times but it's not very often I give it a listen, tbh none of the songs are sticking in my head, might give it a listen soon.
grth2004 Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 I went to school with the lead singer. Cant stand the band TBH kind of a joke. we may have some mutual friends as i went to ashby school too but was a few years above but my girlfriend and her mates were in the same year and know them well
MC Prussian Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 I like The Young Knives a lot and went to see them at a gig here in Zurich last year, even spoke to them briefly. Really nice lads the three of them. Also, their looks are a bit misleading, as they have the stamina of ten oxes on stage. And they take off like crazy, really! Their energy is contagious. The songs - well, some like them. I love them.
purpleronnie Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 we may have some mutual friends as i went to ashby school too but was a few years above but my girlfriend and her mates were in the same year and know them well He was the same year as me never really knew him I played footy everyday I guess he was inside practicing??? MC Prussian Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 Henry Dartnall (guitar), Oliver Askew (drums), Thomas Dartnall (bass).

Lillehamring Posted 28 July 2009 Author Posted 28 July 2009 Henry Dartnall (guitar), Oliver Askew (drums), Thomas Dartnall (bass). which one is the singer... also, i may be way off here, but are they a bit middle class?
Flynny Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 I really like Voices of Animals and Men, it starts as quite good indie music that's still not too unoriginal and end up with a few songs just hint at melancholy and sound a bit more complex.
MC Prussian Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 which one is the singer...also, i may be way off here, but are they a bit middle class? Henry's the lead singer, with Thomas doing the second. Don't know about the middle class thing, it's the way they dress I s'ppose - tweed and suits and all. Like I said, they show up looking completely nerdy and even amateur in a way and once they start - BOOM! - you'd never thought they could pull it off so well. Which is part of their show, I guess.
Rocket-Ron Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 "You was screaming at your Mum, As i was punching your Dad"
General Smuts Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 absolutely the sort of whiny vocaled indie that normally makes me puke and curse smuts... Have that in your pipe and smoke it! HOT SUMMER HOT HOT SUMMER!
Matt Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Have that in your pipe and smoke it!HOT SUMMER HOT HOT SUMMER! That song wasn't wrote about English summers then? RAINY SUMMER RAINY RAINY SUMMER.
Shrenchel Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 One of the few decent indie bands out there. Geniunely talented geezers.
Uncle Monty Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 There a bunch of twats, after a gig when they were at the bar i tried conversing with them about Leicester and they completely ignored me.
Rocket-Ron Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 There a bunch of twats, after a gig when they were at the bar i tried conversing with them about Leicester and they completely ignored me. No excuse but I dont think they talk the leicester thing like Kasabian.
