Babylon Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 After the Matthew Amoah farce, two days ago I decided to post this on football rumours as an experiment. Here's the link http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ it's right at the bottom. "Nigel Pearson and chief scout Steve Walsh are rumoured to be keeping tabs on Ukraine Under 21 Striker Yevhen Konoplyanka. The 19 year old is still only plying his trade for FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Reserves and Youth Team, but the Leicester boss has had him watched him on a couple of occasions and sees him as one for the future. With the new season closing in, a first team striker is still the main concern for Pearson. Racing Santander striker Mohammed Tchité. The former winner of the 'Belgian Ebony Shoe' award is his latest target. He will command quite a large fee, but the imminent exit of DJ Campbell to Coventry City will fund at least part of the transfer." Well... Today the Daily Mail are reporting that "Leicester are to sign YEVHEN KONOPLIANKA from Ukraines Dnipropetrovsk for a £1 million". This then got posted on Bentleys and then onto talking balls, it would have only been a matter of time before it found its way onto here. Then we would have had flanimal calling him crap, ok and then great during the course of the day. Just to prove you shouldn't get too carried away about any rumour you see no matter where it comes from.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Brilliant. Have been meaning to do something similar myself. Everyone takes leave of their senses when it comes to transfers between football clubs. It's completely ludicrous.
Babylon Posted 6 August 2009 Author Posted 6 August 2009 Was just about to post this, just saw it myself. And who is he??? Just some random I picked!! I was thinking about teams I could pick from and thought about the Ukraine as they played the under 19's recently. So I had a flick around wikipedia and found him in their under 21 squad.
Jimbo Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I was going to do somehing similar myself to see how far it would actually go! It's amazing that anyone pays attention to that site
Craig Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I remember when i did something similar with David Bellion Brilliant.
Babylon Posted 6 August 2009 Author Posted 6 August 2009 I remember when i did something similar with David Bellion Brilliant. Christ I remember that one... the story ran and ran for weeks.
AmericanScott Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Brilliant Babylon! Seeing as it's in the Daily Mail, it'll most likely be in the Mercury tonight. I'll laugh out loud if it is.
Babylon Posted 6 August 2009 Author Posted 6 August 2009 Brilliant Babylon! Seeing as it's in the Daily Mail, it'll most likely be in the Mercury tonight. I'll laugh out loud if it is. Probably a full page on the back knowing how shit they are these days!!
Nick Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Christ I remember that one... the story ran and ran for weeks. The Daily Mail printed it?
Babylon Posted 6 August 2009 Author Posted 6 August 2009 The Daily Mail printed it? The Bellion story made it into a few from memory. People had already been talking about him on here I think so the story just snowballed.
DangerLuke Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Absolutely superb, someone needs to get hold of the Daily Mail to show them how hard their sports department is working...
welck12 Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Absolutely superb, someone needs to get hold of the Daily Mail to show them how hard their sports department is working... Or better still send them Babs CV, he might fancy being a sportswriter
DangerLuke Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I actually want this to happen now, then maybe Babylon can become a football Seer and get a program on ITV2 predicting the transfers for the upcoming season. Perhaps then it'll be so successful we can get teams around us buying god awful tosh making it easier for us to fly up the league. It can't fail!
lou Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 That is brilliant! How funny would it be if we actually ended up signing him though NP could read the Mail....... have a look at the lad, like him, buy him...... Hey Presto Babylon is a City scout
Shrenchel Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Haha sterling work. Being a football journalist these days must be a wanky piece of piss.
Zingari Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Haha sterling work. Being a football journalist these days must be a wanky piece of piss. just read "Flat Earth News" , by Nick Davies , and according to him the whole newspaper industry is just the same . they just nick stories from the Press Association and very rarely check authenticity
Hitesh Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Bravo! You should write to all the papers with this and see what kind of response you get, I reckon some would take it as a decent story to run (Daily Sport etc)
