Awful draw, anyone else would've been half decent but Preston?!

Also, what's the problem with picking teams out of a bag like the good old days? What's this nonsense with some teams being already drawn? How was it possibly a fair draw?

I don't know what it is more disappointing; the outcome of the draw or Sir Fynwy saying he's not bothering to go to the game. :(

Rubbish draw. Totally knackered after driving back from Macclesfield, Fox Travel is my friend for this one.

Watched the draw last night, quite dissapointing.

A fair trip to Preston North End up there in Lancashire, ecspecially on a Tuesday night.

I wish we didn't get clubs in the same league. Although we have only played Macclesfield. I mean, its not fair for fans to travel what 2 hours for a tuesday night cup match to a ground they will be visiting later in the season

Was gonna drive up and offer to take Lisa too if Carl not going BUT Im on bloody holiday!!

Aw, thanks anyway, it's the thought that counts!

Rubbish draw. A team away in your own league is so boring. Espeically when it is at a place like Preston. You want a Premier League club for a day out or a lower league team at home so you can progress.

Thoughts on whether we will put our full strength side out for this one? Plenty of important early season games in the league to consider. Don't want players getting injured in Carling Cup games.

Id much rather have a lower league team away than at home, at least that way its potentially a new place to go to and a bit more of a day out. Feels more like the cup when your in a terrace at a ground you've never been to!

Also, I would have thought we will put out a pretty strong side for it, possibly not far off the team for macclesfield. If Nigel is willing to put out that squad against a physical style of play such as is common in league 2, i dont think he'll have a problem doing the same against Preston. Injuries can happen at any time and it wouldnt exactly be fair on the travelling fans to put out a weaker side

A trip to Lancashire is ok if you're looking to progress against Accrington or something or if you're going to Old Trafford but as you said Deepdale? I mean, we are going there this season anyway, I suppose if it was last season we could have entertained it, seeing as Preston were in the league above.

Don't know about what team we'll put out, although a trip to Preston is always going to be a hard game, Carling Cup or not.

I don't really understand this "rubbish/crap draw" attitude. Yes, it would be nice to play a bigger team, or it would be nice to visit a ground I haven't been to before, but to be honest, I couldn't care less who we got, as long as we play well and win.

TBH, we were never going to get a smaller club, as this competition is seeded at this stage. Now that is something that I don't agree with! Cup draws should be totally random, and not semi-fixed.

Amen to that, surely its the whole point of the cup that you could face absolutely anybody!

I call Sky Sports conspiracy on the whole thing.

Surely the League Cup draw used to be all random at some point in the not too distant past? :dunno:

It was. The seeding, as I understand it, was to ensure that lower league teams get just reward for their endeavours by definitely facing a higher placed club. Seeing as the Premiership doesn't get involved until R2, and the "Big Boys" R3, the chances of these little teams getting a big payday is reduced this way, as they could face a top Championship side in R1 and get knocked out. The old system could see them get through to R3 playing clubs at the same level as them. The cynic in me sees seeding as a way of getting rid of the minnows, and having bigger teams playing each other, therefore adding to the Sky conspiracy theory!!

Don't judge a book by is cover,

You never know this could be a great cup run for us, cause if we play one of the big clubs we'd be knocked out, prabs with done the few giant kills like Tottenham 3-2, what a game I remember my other team Nuneaton borough got a draw against Middlesbrough the day before so I was still a bit pissed with celebration.

Anyway Spurs was great coming from 2 behind to win & you could tell that Gary Linker was smiling at the result after the game.

Also Preston his very hard place to get to a night if I was you supporters to bother to travel down to Preston stay home & listen to the radio, & save your money for the away championship games.
