Political correctness

Just reading through some of the papers lately it shows who stupid the country is becoming through political correctness and all that crap.

One story that caught my eye was about Dennis the Menace and how he is being soften down Link for the majority of us we watched Dennis the Menace and with it being a cartoon we all knew it wasn't real, but people are making the program more child friendly just beacuse there are some people who sit on there arse's all day and complain about the littlest things on tv.

They have banned The Beano's bully from using his trusty catapult, water pistol and peashooter in their new cartoon series.

Dennis is also no longer allowed to pick on geeky Walter and is not slippered by his dad as a punishment. Even his dog Gnasher has been targeted.

So a Tv program that was loved my people across all ages and genders has to be changed because the main character is a bit to boisterous or energetic?

Why?

As TV license payers we pay for these TV programs and yet the BBC and other tv companies decide to make them less enjoyable.

I also remember vaguely another story that made it onto a thread on here about somebody complaining about a bear on a children’s tv program being to dark?

It just proves how stupid this country and political correctness is becoming, what a joke.

If you wanna merge to another thread feel free to move it.

Independent tv companies only recieve about £1 per tv licence fee (which is an unconstitutional concept, thus illegal for the BBC to sell us free information). Whereas a reasonable amount of people can complain to the independent companies and make them broadcast that dark teddy bear, the BBC is run by the british government, now New Labour, which is heavily infavour of destroying everything good this country has going for it infavour of creating a commufascist (i want word royalties for that :D ) state. This country isn't commufascist New Labour, as there are some brilliant people in this country despite the monsters.

:D he's european chairman of the Carlyle Group, who sell arms to the Talliban and al'queda. Did anyone know the phrase "al'qeda" is a computer programme created by the US government? Not the current mob.

Yep this is definitely the work of the government and nothing to do with BBC Children's TV producers who don't want parents moaning.

The irony is I bet the people who are concerned about Dennis being watered down aren't in favour of the Cbeebies presenter who has a stump for an arm.

For a quieter and happier life, I can wholeheartedly recommend only concerning yourself with your own experiences, rather than reading inflammatory nonsense in shit newspapers.

My friend went to university with that one armed lady and claims she was a right goer

This thread is going to end well isn't it?

So let's get this right...

A comic aimed at children is cutting down on the amount of bullying depicted in its pages, having previously decided to stop featuring scenes of spanking.

And some posters are reacting like it's the END of civilisation?

Words fail me, they really do..

It's not that bullying isn't bad, it's the short-sightedness of all this censorship. There probably is a problem with engaging kids and young people now and a certain unsavoury anti-social element has emerged in society as a result of that, but instead of people taking a good look at their family life or how they bring up their children (you know, taking a bit of responsibility) and making constructive inroads from there, we instead prefer to attack some entirely innocent cartoon, or whatever it is on a given day, as if that is the reason for the lack of order.

shut up you silly scroat.... you have no right to complain to anyone about bullying when you abuse your own position of power.

Bored by the long school holidays, are we?

Perhaps when term starts, you may be taught how to respond constructively to a case, instead of indulging in personal abuse, which I hear the mods are now clamping down on.

Or perhaps the publishers of the comic just decided to move with the times, in order to retain its commercial appeal.

The Beano banned spanking about 20 years ago, during the reign of that well-known progressive Margaret Thatcher. So the process actually began long before the current government came to power.

Haha, I wouldn't bank on it.

Yeah, but, unlike 'spanking' (whatever that has to do with anything), kids going round with guns doesn't seem to have gone out of fashion in the last 20 years.

If Dennis were a proper menace he'd be screaming abuse at pensioners outside of Londis until they died of a heart attack, putting fireworks through people's letterboxes and fiddling with the kid he's supposed to be babysitting. Instead they're going the other way, and making him less unpleasant!

It's political correctness gone mad, gone mad, gone mad, gone mad, gone mad, gone mad10

Hmmmmmmmmm, to me there's far too much crap on tv, etc, all of a sudden it's ok to say 'fart', 'ass hole' etc during prime time, and pop artist can sing about guns and violence, and that's being aired during prime time. IMO, Dennis may have been a real menace 20 years ago but in todays standards, he's quite lame, anyway I prefer Horrid Henry!!
