Sheff United away - Standing

Didn't the club announce last season that no tickets will be sold as unreserved and that all clubs would be insisting on fans occupying their allocated seat?

It's up to the selling club whether seats are reserved or not, and we did have some games with unreserved seating. The note was put out because there were problems with some of the early games, where seating was reserved, and people couldn't get to their allocated seats because someone else had decided to take them, Cheltenham being the main one. There was a bit of trouble there because of the issue and that's why City started asking fans to stick to their allocated seats.

My cousins a steward there, so we need to abuse him, friendly banter of course.

Don't forget need to give Mark Bunn an clap, he helped us win the league (kind of anyway) just means we won't score tonight because he will be on form!

Well he showed his true colours didn't he <_<

As others have said, it was an absolute shambles last night. Not only was there confusion over seats, having turned up to find it unreserved, but the brain dead stewards were only allowing fans in certain blocks. We initially had to go and find seats at the front (the rows at the back were already overcrowded) and it was just before kick off when we were allowed to move to another block of the away end.

I really didn't see the point in that, they knew how many tickets had been sold in advance, and given the shortish distance and fine weather, it was always likely even more would be sold on the night.

It did look pretty chaotic, luckily we found a pretty good spot at the back with loads of FTers and stood throughout. Getting groped by Kilworth was not an experience I care to repeat though <_<

for the first 10-15 minutes the most of our end apart from the middle section were stood and the stewards insisted on people sitting down. where i was we had no problem as the 2 blocks were all stood and i thought the atmosphere last night was top!.

That is preferable to being twatted on the back of the head, and showered in spit.

If my understanding of your situation is correct then I think you've suffered from being somewhat naive or more drunk than you thought you where.

You should have sussed out straight away that people weren't in their allocated seats and that there wasn't sufficient seats for you irrespective of whether you intended to use them. But your biggest mistake seems to be to think that you could stand in seats away from the back.

If you'd have gone where others where standing towards the back rather than trying to occupy your allocated seats it's more than likely you would have seen the whole game from a standing position.

Exactly.

I'm not really sure that AFIE has much to complain about really. Maybe the stewards acted like nobs but the situation arose in the first place from the fact you were standing in an area where most people (as is their right) wanted to sit...

You do both of course have valid points, and perhaps a portion of the blame does lie at my door (call it naivety, stupidity, lack of common sense or whatever). However, there were quite a few others around us who were also standing and I had no idea that it was unreserved seating either. I also feel the stewards were overly aggressive in the way they treated us, especially given that I was in the process of explaining to them that we would move to the back if they had a problem with us standing where we were.

Am I the only one who's only interested in Nikki's (the doll) phone number? :P :P

lol

She's a bit pricey mate.

Went last night with 3 neutral mates (Palace, Arsenal, Tottenham fans). Got our seats, back row of the stand. Pretty happy with that until we got there and people were there. Got told it was unreserved seating by Kilworth fox(the only person i've met off here, twice now, pretty random). He was happy for us 4 to share the 4 occupied seats around him. 5 minutes later his mate got upset so we moved. The only seats in sight were on the 2nd row, shit seats! Waited till half time then moved back in to other seats. Got some dodgy looks when the people returned who were sat there. Unreserved seating is unreserved seating i say.

Fully expected my mates to not get involved but they loved it and said we're quality fans, better than any crowd they've been in!

Hi

Er have we met

It was the pink scarf that first attracted me to her.

I only sung it because deep down, I was jealous that you have such a stunner.

I have had my faith in old people restored. I stood right behind the goal 5 rows from the back and was encouraged to do so by several 70 year old women telling me to support my team along with one of the said old women's husband who was 83! This has restored my faith in old people as i thought initially at the start of the match i would get lots of demands to sit down. In fact, they were more vocal than me, which takes a lot. I will gladly stand amongst old men and women again.

Was it actually unreserved seating or did they just let people sit wherever there was space after too many people just sat where they fancied?

I got there just before kick off and sat near the front which I was perfectly happy with, but we were nowhere near where we were supposed to be. They wouldn't even let us go up the gangway where our seats were. I saw my mate Ben at half time and supposedly there was loads of space at the far right end.

I don't really care as long as I get a seat, but if you've deliberately bought some tickets in a group so you can sit with your family or mates or whatever, but then find that you're going to have to split up because the whole thing has descended into farce then you can see why people get a bit cross

You can sit next to me then :P

I got into the ground about 5 minutes before kick off, tried to get in all the gangways but they said they were all full except Gangway C, so there was a massive queue to get in there and no spare seats. We watched the first 10 minutes from the aisle but when people started to sit down it became a joke.

When they finally opened Gangway F and G, I went over there and everyone in those blocks stood for the whole game.

Our end looked decent on Sky Sports News.

I've no doubt they were overly aggressive but that's the nature of stewards and something you really should be aware of, if they feel like it they'll chuck you out for the most minor misdemeanour's which is why I thought you were naive or drunk :P

Oh I don't think it is.

I am not lying! You took full advantage of the 'accidental brush' as well as telling me to 'not stop jumping up and down'...for obvious reasons. There's no place in football for sexual harassment sunshine!

this was the main problem

there was 8 of us and obviously we wanted to all sit together

when we got to our seats (cause no one told us it was unreserved) there was only about 3 seats available cause there was other lads in our seats

i wasn't really that fussed cause i assumed we'd just be standing so i just said said we'd all squeeze in which doesn't bother me

then when people started sitting down behind us we had no where to sit

and then they started with the poking

then the stewards started telling us to sit down to which i replied 'where?'

and from where we were it didn't look like there was any spare seats around? maybe i'm wrong but it seemed pretty full, and why should we all have to sit on our own cause some people were in our allocated seats? but just because they were happy to sit down and say nothing no one cared about them

then the steward told me to go and speak to him about it which i did, then the second i got into the concourse area about 5 other stewrads just grabbed me and started walking towards the door

and i'm not really one to just go quietly when i haven't really done anything wrong, so i did make it a job for them.

and the thing which pissed me off the most was that the police outside were pretty understanding and pretty much sided with us, but they said they couldn't do anything about it and couldn't get us back inside the ground.

the stewards are just bloody waiting for stuff like this to happen, make their night a bit more exciting.

i miss being shit, that was the 4th time i've been Bramal Lane and every other time apart from the 3 nil lose we never sold out so didn't have any problems sitting where ever

i wish these glory supporters would just piss off or that we get relegated to the conference, where football is more relaxed and actually enjoyed by fans

or maybe i just support Harborough Town

Maybe they found the doll offensive. :dunno:

I must remember in future to refrain from straying into seedy shops en route to games.
