We need to somehow stop these sitting down idiots going to away games, they are not football fans they are rugby fans, we need to divert them to tigers

Or at least usher them to the front so that the people who want to stand, can do so at the back. I heard someone about to kick off that someone was in his seat until someone said it was unreserved seating - he just rolled his eyes. Idiothole.

Groups of people together singing equates to a better atmosphere, it's not rocket science. The sooner this is allowed the better in my opinion, the atmos was top notch and the singing was most impressive last night. This is how football should be, not a load of goons sitting there telling people to shut up.

I loved our 5 minute rendition (until they scored) of 'We are Champions, Champions of League One' last night. Quality stuff.

More of the same at Newcy Brown Ale please.

and the thing which pissed me off the most was that the police outside were pretty understanding and pretty much sided with us, but they said they couldn't do anything about it and couldn't get us back inside the ground.

That's the thing. As we were being chucked out you could see that the stewards had briefed the police to expect the ejection of two rowdy hooligans, but as soon as they released us the police could see we meant no harm or posed no threat to anyone so they were actually quite civil with us, which made a refreshing change from the attitude of the stewards.

It's staggering the lengths that these people will go to to justify their jobs.

i remember Wigan did this

they sold 2 seperate tickets for away games

1 for people who wanted to stand up and sing and one for people who wanted to sit in silence and moan

although i dont think it would work cause most people who sit and moan want to be where the atmosphere is, they just dont want to contribute to it

I hope not.

It's not impressive to boast about winning a league we should never have sunk to in the first place, especially at a venue like St James' Park.

Why can't people support the team how they feel is right for them? So what if they don't want to stand up all game, there may be reasons why they can't do that, so why should they miss out on watching their team?

As others have said, we ought to be given the option with away games; why they can't separate half the allocation to those who want to sing, and those who don't is beyond me.

But it's a fun song when it's in full scarf waving flow? :dunno:

Besides, it doesn't matter which division it was, the important thing was we won it!

I know it's meant as an imitation of Leeds, which in itself is hardly a recommendation to repeat it.

But it makes us appear small-time, as if we're giddy and intoxicated at reaching the dizzy heights of the Championship. If we did sing it to the geordies, they'd rip us to shreds in ridicule, and rightly so.

We're bigger and better than that.

But we did, and it wasn't a surprise when it eventually happened. It's not something that we can sweep under the carpet. Just be glad that if it turns out to be the one and only time we ended up in the third tier, we came out on top, and at the first attempt. I personally think that is an achievement.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand your point?

I couldn't care less if it made us appear small-time, and I couldn't care less what the Geordies think.

I must have forgotten how massive we are.

Here here!

I personally think it did us the world of good on reflection despite it being utterly devastating at the time. We had a brilliant laugh, visited a lot of grounds we wouldn't normally visit and pretty much owned everyone in League One. If you didn't enjoy last season then you're an utter idiot :)

we should try and bring in a system like northamton and just sell tickets in a singing section and if u want to sit they get a ticket with other people who want to sit, the more people who want to stand and sing the bigger the singing section. i personally think this would make our away support even bettter !

I don't know what all the problem is about, I didn't see anyone complaining.

brought a tear to my eye when we sang "we've got our Leicester back"

"we've got our Leicester back", "we've got our Leicester back", "we've got our Leicester back"

Gangway B is where i was standing, got to stand there all game without any hassle from Stewards. Also the banter between fans was funny, the chants at the 4 Sheff Utd fans sitting to the left was great.

I got into the ground about 5 minutes before kick off, tried to get in all the gangways but they said they were all full except Gangway C, so there was a massive queue to get in there and no spare seats. We watched the first 10 minutes from the aisle but when people started to sit down it became a joke.

When they finally opened Gangway F and G, I went over there and everyone in those blocks stood for the whole game.

Our end looked decent on Sky Sports News.

Agreed, C-Man, they should have been a steward who was make note of numbers and opending the gangways up appropriately.

I was at the back of the Gangway C and had the incident in front of me. Stood for the first 15 minutes. We had some real Flask Army bod's around and when once confronted about their attitude. Came out with the reply 'When the holidays are finished...you won't make QPR on a Friday night'....snobbery at it's finest. Bunch of melodramatic plonkers, every time the box went in our box it was 'shhhittt'.

Agreed with the end bit as well. Got the tingly feeling on 'we've got our Leicester back'. Fingers crossed Newkycastle is the same. Missed that kind of atmosphere yesterday.

would there be any point of emailing the club about maybe using a system to sell away tickets in certain areas for people who want to stand up and sing?

or would that be a complete waste of time?

or has anyone ever emailed in already?

seems so simple and would make everyone happy

people who want to sit can do in peace and people who want to stand can do without having to go hospital with back trauma caused by poking

Fans Consultative Committee - September 2008

Away Matches

AN spoke about the away matches played so far and the need for planning regarding the sale of tickets.

The fans that have attended our away fixtures in the main have behaved very well with only isolated incidents of poor behaviour.

There are mixed messages from stewards with some advising fans to 'sit anywhere you like' and others insisting on the correct seat being used. This inevitably leads to the domino effect of fans not being able to sit in their designated seat and standing occurring.

CT advised that the home club will always advise the visiting club in what particular order an area of seats should be sold.

LB said that she felt the Stockport County seating area had been insufficient in terms of number of seats compared to the number of fans attending and this lead to fans standing at the rear of the seating area.

CT confirmed that the club would continue its dialogue with the clubs that we are visiting to ensure that they are aware of our high numbers of travelling support.

The problem with all of this is that you've got two groups of people in the same place that want different things from the 'matchday experience', and the present rules favour the majority, who are quite content to sit there passively and watch the game. The authorities aren't going to rush around to change the rules in favour of those who, as far as those rules are concerned at least, are causing the problems.

Personally I think the two groups need to feel the love a bit more. Having friends in both camps I can see the argument from both sides and I think one of the problems is that for every voice calling, quite reasonably, for safe standing to be reintroduced, there's another who's complained that nothing was done about the bloke who was standing infront of them blocking their view. I don't think the people who moan about people standing have a problem with the concept of standing up to watch a game of football, it's just that it's being done in areas that it shouldn't. If 'safe standing' were introduced, I think everyone would be happy because everyone gets what they want, but that doesn't seem likely when the two groups are effectively opposing each other
