Craig Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 This is hopefully going to be amazing. As been mentioned before, it's nice to be playing a decent side with decent fans.
lildave3 Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 I am not. Ditto, unless I have a suitable garment underneath said shirt. Well you're just no fun.
markbsac Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 been told by a few blades fans there stewards are being really strict on standing this season....so if we all stand what can they do..same at the walkers i sit in N block and the swansea fans were not told to sit down once..they all stood and nothing was done

Don't forget need to give Mark Bunn an clap, he helped us win the league (kind of anyway) just means we won't score tonight because he will be on form!
Bluefoxtim Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Don't forget need to give Mark Bunn an clap, he helped us win the league (kind of anyway) just means we won't score tonight because he will be on form! First up, what a nob! Right, was gonna start a new thread but may as well stick it in here... It was my first match with unreserved seating, and I hope to god it's my last! I'd like to point out that I'm 19, vocal and generally prefer standing! Anyway, we went to our seats, in the middle of the gangway on row K, someone was sitting in them and we said "I think you have our seats" then we were told to sit anywhere, fair enough, so we shifted along a few seats. About 5 minutes later about a dozen young lads came (obviously pissed and one of them was crying throughout and another with a blow up doll!) so my seat now became shared with about 5 over excited people and I kept being elbowed in the head so I eventually moved forward one row for a bit more room. After 10 minutes or so, the stewards started telling everyone to sit down, but these lads had about 3 seats between them so they just carried on standing. Some guy behind them started screaming at them and it all got a bit heated until they all got up and moved to the back. Now, can someone tell me the point of unreserved seating and how it works in this situation? If there is going to be a small crowd with plenty of space, then fair enough, but we had practically filled our end and obviously people coming in late aren't going to sit right in the corner when they had got a decent ticket in the middle. A full allocation, unreserved seating and making people sit down really doesn't work,,, On the whole though, a good night. Parked at B&Q after some Utd fans told us we could ignore the 2 hour parking sign
Ford Super Sunday Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 As much as a lot of people love unreserved seating, tonight it didnt' work They should have made it absolutely clear from the start that it would have been unreserved. The fact they printed seat numbers on the tickets, and only told everyone coming in it would be did not help. It would have worked, and next week at Preston, it will work, because everyone KNOWS it is unreserved. Tonight though, caused needless problems, but we live and learn. (Personally I loved the unreserved seating, got a great seat (for me) and thoroughly enjoyed it)

Ford Super Sunday Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 I didn;t think the fans in the gangway for the first 15 minutes was particularly organised, or the little tiff which was caused by people sitting where they want helped it go very smoothly I didnt have any problems either. But it would have gone a whole lot better had it been announced and always intended to be unreserved
Guest claude_leic Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Did the lads with the sex doll get thrown out? i hope they didnt, fair play to them for telling that bitch to f off, someone needs to do it. Hopefully we can lose some of these prawn samwhich fans to the tigers when they finish the new stadium. The standing was pretty poor i thought decent atmopshere though

The standing was pretty poor i thought decent atmopshere though I was quite surprised by the severe lack of standing that went on, it was pretty baffling. I was on the second to back row, and we were the first row to be standing in my little segment. But it was nice to hear a Sheff U fan on another forum comment on how good our support was, we are appreciated!
Ultra Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 The two blocks furthest away from the main stand were standing throughout the game. I can understand why fans may have been a tad miffed if they turned up thinking they'd have a decent view, only to find their seat had already been taken.

It's basically the same view wherever you are. I could understand if people had paid extra for the tickets, but they haven't.

The standing was pretty poor i thought decent atmopshere though Was told that 2 lads + a doll were thrown out, and it took 5/6 stewards to do it. Hi everyone, it was myself and LCFC-ARAB (with the sex doll sporting a more than fashionable pink Sheff Yoo scarf, which was quickly deflated by a steward) who were ejected from the ground last night. Basically we turned up to the game with every intention of standing up, singing and supporting our team from were our tickets had been allocated in Row K. However, as soon as the referee blew his whistle we were given a consistent barrage of abuse from about 5/6 rows of people behind us who obviously felt that the football supporter serves a different function, i.e. to sit down silently for ninety minutes and do bugger all else. We'd obviously had a couple of beers as a couple of our mates live in Sheffield, however we weren't acting aggressively or abusively in any way and were just there with the express intent of watching City and cheering on the team. The doll was just there for a bit of fun to take the mick out of our opponents, and got us a cheap laugh or two when we turned it round and paraded it for those who were standing on the back rows. So, after about ten or fifteen minutes of this charade (consitently being poked in the back and being told to "siddahn") someone from the five or six rows behind us who were keen on sitting down obviously contacted a steward, and they then confronted LCFC-ARAB. At this point I moved along the row to talk to the stewards and to point out that there were many people both behind us and further to the right of the stand who were stood up too. However, said stewards deemed it that LCFC-ARAB (Liam) and the sex doll (named Nikki, in case you were wondering) in fact posed a threat to those inside the ground and decided to eject him. I was continuing to remonstrate with the steward (albeit in my own calm, patient and logical style) and I politely told them that we would move to the back if we wouldn't be allowed to stand in row K but I was then also deemed to be a threat. At this point we were both manhandled by the stewards, although they seemed to treat Liam with a lot more contempt than myself as I wasn't really resisting physically. We were both thrown out of the ground for doing nothing more than stand up and support our team, like hundreds of other Leicester followers there that night. Outside, I chatted to a policeman and asked him if there was anything he could do to help us as we felt we had been unfairly treated and had been the unfortunate recipients of some overly zealous and overly aggressive stewarding, and should have been allowed to move places instead of being made examples of (for want of a better phrase) in front of the entire crowd. He told me that my qualm was with Sheffield United, so I shall be contacting them , Leicester City and the FSF when I've had more sleep/am not preoccupied with looking after a teething puppy. Anyway, I had never envisaged in a million years that I'd be ejected from a football ground (I'm a fairly mild mannered chap most of the time who's never had anything resembling a fight in his life) and it's not the nicest feeeling in the world, but I'm certainly feeling very hard done by this morning. Oh, and Bluefoxtim, sorry if I elbowed you in the head mate.
Filbert_Ross Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 didnt get into the match cus we had been drinking. joke. not steaming or anything just a standard ammount.. complete waste of time

Oh, and Bluefoxtim, sorry if I elbowed you in the head mate. If my understanding of your situation is correct then I think you've suffered from being somewhat naive or more drunk than you thought you where. You should have sussed out straight away that people weren't in their allocated seats and that there wasn't sufficient seats for you irrespective of whether you intended to use them. But your biggest mistake seems to be to think that you could stand in seats away from the back. If you'd have gone where others where standing towards the back rather than trying to occupy your allocated seats it's more than likely you would have seen the whole game from a standing position.
Turtles Head Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Went last night with 3 neutral mates (Palace, Arsenal, Tottenham fans). Got our seats, back row of the stand. Pretty happy with that until we got there and people were there. Got told it was unreserved seating by Kilworth fox(the only person i've met off here, twice now, pretty random). He was happy for us 4 to share the 4 occupied seats around him. 5 minutes later his mate got upset so we moved. The only seats in sight were on the 2nd row, shit seats! Waited till half time then moved back in to other seats. Got some dodgy looks when the people returned who were sat there. Unreserved seating is unreserved seating i say. Fully expected my mates to not get involved but they loved it and said we're quality fans, better than any crowd they've been in!
Guest Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 As others have said, it was an absolute shambles last night. Not only was there confusion over seats, having turned up to find it unreserved, but the brain dead stewards were only allowing fans in certain blocks. We initially had to go and find seats at the front (the rows at the back were already overcrowded) and it was just before kick off when we were allowed to move to another block of the away end. I really didn't see the point in that, they knew how many tickets had been sold in advance, and given the shortish distance and fine weather, it was always likely even more would be sold on the night.

Didn't the club announce last season that no tickets will be sold as unreserved and that all clubs would be insisting on fans occupying their allocated seat?

Exactly. I'm not really sure that AFIE has much to complain about really. Maybe the stewards acted like nobs but the situation arose in the first place from the fact you were standing in an area where most people (as is their right) wanted to sit...
Fox96 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 You Will Have probably seen me because I was the guy infront of the poor 2 old women who shouted 'SIT DOWN!' every time we sang 'stand up if you love leicester'
