morris1234 Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 right i know this isnt the most manly of topics but it will keep 'er in doors quiet!........ has anyone had or been to a decent venue for a wedding reception where you can have the catering done by someone other than the venues own caterers? We are getting married abroad so any savings we can make once we're back are going to be well needed. any help/advice much appreciated
Webbo Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I went to a reception at 'The Venue' in Thurmaston earlier this year, nice, big place. They had outside caterers.
Phube Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 Scalford Hall in Melton Mowbray is really nice!
DB11 Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 I swear the Walkers Stadium lets you have outside catererers. That, or it just said "bring your own food".

Nah they dont let you which is a shame cos thats the dream but they cant guaruntee a booking untill next seasons fixtures are out which leaves it a bit late to find an alternative. cheers though
jonthefox Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 im sure i heard you can hire the guildhall in leicester for weddings.
Sparky Posted 13 September 2009 Posted 13 September 2009 Scalford Hall in Melton Mowbray is really nice! Cousin had her wedding there , beautiful place but bloody expensive.
Steph08 Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I guess wedding reception is more fascinating when you done it in a wide open place. Garden wedding or beach wedding is a good example, you will have the same place to held your wedding ceremony and your wedding reception. It is also more cheaper.
Tommy G Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Been to one recently at the Marriott hotel near fosse park, was pretty swanky.
billyfox1 Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Cousin had her wedding there , beautiful place but bloody expensive. So did my cousin, and you're right it is very expensive and it's not very big

Cheers but the problem of having the wedding abroad, not everybody can afford to go! So we were planning on having the reception over here for those that cant make it. Cheers though!
foxer Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Bolsover castle is really nice. I was working there for a catering company on saturday for a wedding. Check it out, but it is in Derbyshire.
imagine that Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Grace road cricket club. They can set up a big marquee on the pitch and you bring in your own caterers.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough where i work but seriously dont go their.......
Sparky Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I got married back in June (although it seems about 5 years ago ) , we had the whole event at Grace Road cricket ground. Was spot on in fairness but didnt go for the marquet we had the David Gower suite which held around 180 of us
Guest Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Three Swans Hotel in Market Harboroughwhere i work but seriously dont go their....... I went to a wedding reception there. It sticks in my mind because Sir Fynwy got drunk, and uncharacteristically, rock and rolled. Literally. I wasn't impressed, as I was wearing a skirt.

LCFC-ARAB Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I doubt it - think it was 2004! I was washing the dishes back in 2004 My how i have moved up in this hotel
Narborough Bod Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 So did my cousin, and you're right it is very expensive and it's not very big I got married at Scalford and them catering seemed the only option. Not too small though, we managed 150 guests easily. But if you're trying to save cash it's not the best place.
