Team for Coventry

This thread will probably be closed after about 10 minutes since it was started by me ;), but what do people think the team will be? Will Nigel Pearson go for the same players that started against Middlesbrough. Obviously Tunchev is out.

I'd say:

..............................Weale

Morrison......Hobbs........Brown........Berner

Gallagher....Oakley.....Wellens.....Dyer

..............Kermorgant....Fryatt

Although, Maybe Gallagher will play upfront with Fryatt and Adams on right-wing.

Unfortunately our side is going to be lacking something whichever way we put it together.

I see only one way of injecting sufficient pace and goalscoring power to the team to make us a threat - and the possible absence or benching of King due to possible injury on Teeside, may mean we could use it.

But I wouldn't bet on it. Ninety-nine per cent likely we'll go for smash and grab once again with an unchanged defence, Gallagher, Oakley, King or Wellens, Dyer in midfield and Fryatt with Howard up front.

The attacking option is:

Weale,

Oakley or Morrison, Hobbs, Brown Berner;

Gradel. King or Oakley, Wellens, Dyer;

Campbell, Fryatt.

But, I'd be amazed if he picked Campbell or Gradel so plan A looks the banker.

No the real attacking option is,

---------------Weale-------------

Neilson-- Morrison--Hobbs--Berner

------Oakley--King--Wellens------

-----Gallagher--Fryatt--Dyer------

With Waghorn and either N'Guessan or Yanni as attacking options on the bench. Gradel apparently had a belter midweek in the reserves, be nice to see him involved.

I am assuming that everyone bar the Tunch is fit, but with zero information coming out of the Walkers that really is guesswork!

Adams for Gallagher and Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaghorn for Kermorgant.

I'd love to see;

Weale

Morrison -- Hobbs -- Brown -- Berner

Gallagher -- Oakley -- Wellens -- Dyer

Fryatt -- Howard

Subs:

Logan

Nielson

Adams

N'Guessan

King

Kermogrant

Waghorn

______

Gradel won't be fit I don't think plus he's not good enough.

Adams is a squad player, so is N'Guessan and should be used for late subs.

Kermogrant out, obviousley didn't challenge the Middlesbrough defence as well as Howard.

Dyer to start, he scored the goal and I think it would be great for him to run at that young lad.

Not sure about Morrison versus McIndoe though, maybe go for Nielson but not to sure.

_____

Not to many changes as we won, and I have seen that both Wellens and Fryatt are fit

Yes, that was one line-up that looked quite likely but it meant no target man (which Pearson seems to like), only one player with pace (Dyer) plus Gallagher who is neither a winger nor a striker.

He would therefore, presumably, play in the hole and share the responsibility to provide width with Oakley and, to some extent Neilson. Result: we'll never have the pace or mobility to get round the back of their defence on the right or to disturb them with the speed of any counter attack.

The Romanesque approach of being compact might, however, enable us to grind out a draw unless the liveliness of Fryatt and Dyer can pinch something as at Middlesbrough. Looking at the blustery winds today it seems set up for that sort of battle anyway, rather than anything approaching exciting football.

But you never do know. These sorts of conditions can also produce the bizarre and unexpected.

Why won't Gradel be fit?

I'd never contest some of the criticisms about his inconsistency but I'd be quite surprised if Gradel wasn't the fittest player in our squad.

He might have been out of the first team for a while but he played well enough and long enough the other night to score a goal and make two.

As for not being good enough he really is regarded as the most skillfiul player we've got by a good many of the senior players. And from everything I've sen so far he's every bit as good as N'Guessan or anyone else we've tried to play on the right wing.

Like Marbella' I've always wondered if he doesn't burn up too much of his energy helping out in defence. B ut it's the modern way and he's having to adapt like every other winger.

We have to play King, we look very bad without a holding player.

.....................Weale

Nielson...Hobbs....Brown...Berner

Oakley....Wellens....King...Dyer

.............Fryatt....Gallagher

Subs: Logan, Morrison, McGivern, Waghorn, Fryatt, Yann, Gradel

So no Howard even on the bench? :dunno:

i'm guessing

weale

morrison - hobbs - brown - berner

oakley - king - wellens - dyer

fryatt - yann

...from what i've read, morrison did enough to keep his place... and i think dropping yann would defeat the object of having started him last match.

i suspect that, if yann works out up front, then it will be better for the squad in the long run, with howard coming off the bench.

I'd go for that team too, but i'd have to choose between Kermorgant and Howard. Probably give Kermorgant another chance.

Weale

Morrison - Hobbs - Brown- Berner

King

N'Guessan(despite last week) Oakley Wellens Dyer

(to be replaced by Adams)

Fryatt(to run his nuts off)to be replaced by Gallagher

subs Adams,Gallagher,Neilson, Howard

Idea being NGuessan and Dyer are very good at supporting Fryatt AND we are the AWAY side which means we are going to have to be tight in the first half and NgUESSAN seems to come good when given a kick up the backside and Lloyd Dyer should be full of confidence after scoring midweek and we need to decide that King is good enough for this league and the only way we can do that is by entrusting him with that holding role AND if we pla hoof ball like we did v Preston then there is no hope anyway and Howard needs to realise that his automatic selection is not guaranteed
