SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Just making a World Cup was unbelievable and brought football to the public here.............so Country.
Podge Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 I support both but Club seems to be more important to me, I just dont get the same level of emotions watching the national team as I do club football, but I suppose if I went to National matches as regularly as I do Leicester games I would have the same types of reaction to events.
Guest Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 I thought that this was going to be discussed from the point of view of players, not the fans! As a couple of others have already said, I don't know why the two have to be mutually exclusive. Not from the fans perspective. From the players, that raises a whole kettle of fish.....
Darkzzz_ Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Leicester always. I would choose us every time. I don't watch International football as much as I used to, I often find myself hoping the teams with our players involved win. I like England, but I am not as passionate as someone like Sparky is. I don't go to the games and don't have any intentions on going either and the passion I feel for Leicester is superior to what I feel for the national team and that's the way it is.
BoneDog Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Club football is much more important to me. Or it gives me more interest at least. It's a massive part of life. I love the game of football as a whole but your club just gives you some buzz that nothing else matches in my opinion. The National team is obviously an interest though, just not on the same level as club to me. Also, alot of people I know who profess to love England more are full of sh/t cos in reality they hate most of the rest of the country! They call many parts of the country scum. They fight with folk from other towns just because they are from another town (or even just cos they are from the other side of the river or another estate!). Yet when England play football suddenly they love the whole country. And half the time they have no love for alot of the England team whatsoever, and in my opinion this is because what happens in club football is way more important and has a bigger effect on peoples emotions. From my experiences I'd say that people always have more love for their part of the country and their club than they have of the country as a whole.
Fox92 Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 No nothing is wrong with it - AFiE seems to forget he bum's that FC United of Manchester or any German team. Thank you
leicesterfox86 Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Why do we keep being asked to choose they're not mutually exclusive I want both to do well. Bang on the money. Just a debate I suppose, but both are important to me.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Country for me - England winning the World Cup or European Championships is bigger to me.No nothing is wrong with it - AFiE seems to forget he bum's that FC United of Manchester or any German team. Good'un.
Edmund Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Leicester always. I echo what Nathko says really. I use to be very passionate about the national team but as I grew older that's gone out the window. I missed the old days (pre Sven and bar Mclaren) when we had English managers. Players who would die and play out of their skins for their country. There's something about England football matches which really bores me in comparison to club matches. I will still follow England in the world cup but you wont see me crying in a pub when we lose on penalties Leicester all the way for me.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Can't really think of any sport in which I'm country over club actually. In cricket and rugby I prefer to see the county and Tigers do well (not that I don't want England to win). Guess I'm just prouder of my locality than my nationality in general.
Kilworthfox Posted 7 December 2009 Posted 7 December 2009 Obviously both, however If England were to win the world cup it would be bigger than Leicester winning the league or champs leauge to me as it would be for the whole country rather than just Leicestershire, even though the achievement would be bigger coming from Leicester!
BlueSi13 Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 National pride >>>> Civic pride Still love both though.....why can't England win the world cup and Leicester be promoted to the Premier League?....it'll always be the dream
The Doctor Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Club (my country have got slim to none chance of winning anything in the next decade or so)
lcfc_jme Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 City > EnglandMaybe it's just the case that some people don't feel all that attached to a national identity in general? If that's the case, why would they be bothered? Most predictable answer ever, but it's club every day of the month, every month of the year, every year of my life for me. Easily. By an absolute mile.
The Doctor Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 I support Leicester.I have a season ticket. I try and go to the away matches. I have soft spots for Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and West Ham. I want Leicester to finish above Forest every season, but I like to see Forest doing well. Really, whats wrong with that? the fact that you like one of the "big 4" despite them ruining english football by jacking transfer fees up when they we beginning to drop.
