davieG Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 From OS The Academy's impressive season so far has resulted in a further player, Elliott Chamberlain, signing his first professional contract today. Reflecting on an incredible first half of the season, undefeated and with only two draws, and indeed a very impressive 2009 altogether, Academy Manager Jon Rudkin said: "Congratulations to Elliott, but there have been significant contributions right across the team that have put the group in the position they are currently in. The club has an outstanding team of who work and support the young players in guiding them as they work towards attaining professional contracts." "We have never had a season with this sort of run, where we are actually undefeated even through pre-season which is an excellent achievement for them. When we reflect on the results over 2009, we have actually only lost on two occasions, and that was back in February and March. It's an excellent statistic, however the main objective is for these players to continue to develop in the long term and become senior members of the first-team squad and impact our first-team in the future." Rudkin said: "In the second phase of the season they have certainly got many tough challenges ahead of them but they should be full of confidence and really looking forward to the New Year. "They are a good group of young players to work with. They show enthusiasm to want to learn and become better players and that is an important ingredient if they want to match what many of our first-team players have done in their careers."
Edmund Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Great news, hopefully he can go all the way and make it into the senior team in the near future.
The Doctor Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Striker well he can cover for gallagher on the bench tomorow while gallagher covers for fryatt.
jonthefox Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 the academy side sound very impressive..looks like we may have a bright future.
BoneDog Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Great news, hopefully the lad becomes a good piece of our squad. What kind of a striker is he? Anyone know his best attributes? Wish I could get to Leicester to see the youngsters play, I not been for years to a reserve or youth game. The last time I saw a reserve match was at Filbert Street!
Ozwin Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Keep reading about him in the programme, sounds a good prospect.
lou Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Have seen him play 2/3 times only but he is definately one of our better ones and has scored a few! Jorrin John next please!
lildave3 Posted 19 December 2009 Posted 19 December 2009 Have seen him play 2/3 times only but he is definately one of our better ones and has scored a few! Jorrin John next please! No, me next please.
DB11 Posted 19 December 2009 Posted 19 December 2009 Jorrin John next please! Doesn't he already have a three year contract that is split into a two year scholar, one year pro contract?
davieG Posted 19 December 2009 Author Posted 19 December 2009 Doesn't he already have a three year contract that is split into a two year scholar, one year pro contract? Jorrin put on a scholarship in 2008 along with Chamberlain and others so if Chamberlain has now been put on a professional contract I think that suggests Jorrin's doesn't include a one year pro or it's not a 'truly' professional one.

Hes on a scholarship that doesnt guarantee a Professional contract at the end, its just an option that the club may or may not take up apparently, yes No, me next please. Are you any better than Dickov, DJ etc?
ACF Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 I dreamt about him last night, started against Sheff Utd. Scored with his first touch, I was watching it on TV, and he was blonde.... Great goal though, back to goals, turn the first defender, then knocked it through the next guys legs then placed it into the top corner. Promising.
