davieG Posted 1 January 2010 Posted 1 January 2010 Chris Lines - http://www.bristolrovers.vitalfootball.co....le.asp?a=183057 not the most reliable of sources but Vital Gas has today been informed that Championship club Leicester City are keen on signing Rovers midfielder Chris Lines. Lines contract runs out at the end of the season and can leave on a free in the summer and Leicester are favourites to land the 24 year old. Lines is still in talks with Rovers over a new contract but are still some way apart from agreeing a new deal and If no deal has been agreed by the end of January lines is free to talk to other clubs. Leicester are not the only club showing an interest in Lines, Leeds united are also keen admirers of the midfielder as well as Championship side Cardiff City and League One Rivals Southampton. Lines has made 24 appearances for Rovers this season and has scored 5 times.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 January 2010 Posted 1 January 2010 5 goals in 22 league appearances this season which isn't bad.
davieG Posted 1 January 2010 Author Posted 1 January 2010 5 goals in 22 league appearances this season which isn't bad. On a par with King last year in League one.
SMX11 Posted 1 January 2010 Posted 1 January 2010 I have done a bit of background digging, apparently he is very good when attacking defenders with the ball but he can go missing in games. Sounds like someone in the Mark Davies mould.
FleckneyFox Posted 1 January 2010 Posted 1 January 2010 I remember him down here last season and he was very good. Fast and direct midfielder.
lavrentis Posted 1 January 2010 Posted 1 January 2010 Chris Lines, heard he's a linear player. Very straight forward guy.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 Chris Lines, heard he's a linear player. Very straight forward guy. I heard he can run circles around a defence and likes to play in a diamond.
lavrentis Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 I heard he can run circles around a defence and likes to play in a diamond. Yeah, he keeps in line with the defence. Gets from A to B on the field well.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 Seems like a decent player, score goals and i trust Superman's judgement, but he doesn't strike me as someone who's going to leap from division 3 into promotion to the premier league and beyond, that said, elliott, savage, izzet, lennon, guppy....
lavrentis Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 These are terrible people, please stop! I think we need to draw the line there
mmarkie Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 I presume from the last part of that article, we won't be signing Lines in January?
Unabomber Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 I think we need to draw the line there You should have quit before the first one.
Dan Posted 4 January 2010 Posted 4 January 2010 I have done a bit of background digging, apparently he is very good when attacking defenders with the ball but he can go missing in games. Sounds like someone in the Mark Davies mould. To me sounds like a cross between Davies and King, and to be fair, I was not impressed with King running at defenders at all on Saturday.
bigneville Posted 4 January 2010 Posted 4 January 2010 To me sounds like a cross between Davies and King, and to be fair, I was not impressed with King running at defenders at all on Saturday. Andy King isn't a dribbling midfielder at all. I don't think even himself would claim to be either. AK is very much a keep it simple box to box midfielder, he doesn't possess fantastic dribbling skills, and I wouldn't really like to see him start to try. He seems to know his own game, and this is partially some of the reasons why he has broke into the first team over the past couple of years, and kept his place. He knows what he is good at and doesn't try and stretch his limits. An important personality trait.

King is starting to play well and score goals and Wellens is coming back into form so another midfielder of this type isn't neccessary. Priority should be a decent right back and right winger. Aside from that, I cant see anywhere in the team that needs massively improving at this stage.
Spiritwalker Posted 4 January 2010 Posted 4 January 2010 I hope if he signs he will show pride in the shirt and be a roaring success.
Jfox Posted 4 January 2010 Posted 4 January 2010 well if we can get him for $20000 on £500 a week its 100% must sign!
Tony Pine Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 10.59 Bristol Rovers are confident they will be able to keep star midfielder Chris Lines at the club, with the likes of Cardiff and Leicester keeping tabs on his situation.
