Question about parking fines

So I just finished work and im driving through gatwick airport to get some petrol. Suddenly I see my phone goes of and it's my work so I pull over in what I thought was the collection point (side of the road opposite the doors), im a nurse so i assumed it was important, and it was. A few seconds into the call either a security guard or traffic warden loudly bangs on my window. I ignore the c**t as I was only stopping for one minute and was trying really hard to answer the girl on phone's question about a patient. The call finishes and he's writing down my reg, so I speed off.

My question is can this dick fine me just with my reg?

No, they can't fine you if you drive off without being issued a ticket, i believe.

I may be wrong though.

If you were on a public highway then the ticket has to be placed onto the vehicle. But airports and airport lackies are a law unto themselves so I'd say 50/50.

I know of people who have argued with wardens and chucked the ticket at them

All this bloke did was begin writing my reg in his sad little notebook tho. Not even sure who the fook he was.

These people are like vultures, id only stopped for 60 seconds, could at least give people a couple mins.

maybe you could argue it was a duty call . ?

what grade are you? if your band 5 or 6 you could say you were in charge of the ward that day and therefore had to take the call.

band 5. Yeah could do. Just gotta try and forget about it and hope he cant fine me I guess.

Was your engine on whilst you took the call? I could be wrong, but I believe that you can still be done for using your mobile if the engine is running, and the car is stationary. In which case, if you're reported, you could be done for that instead.

I thought they have to give 3 minutes after finding the car before they issue a ticket. You sometimes see these fine upstanding hard working Gestapos hanging around waiting to write the ticket.

I take it you weren't driving a plane so why go for petrol at gatwick airport. I doubt it would be top of many peoples list for a top up!

Have you seen Adam Curtis "power of nightmares" series of films in which he explains to laymen such as myself how politicians seize control by the Hegelian principle of, " problem , reaction , solution " formula , and how the same formula has been repeated by tyrants throughout the ages including the discrediting and demonisation of opposition

. He portrays our anti terror legislation in these global terms .

The ticket isn't legally issued until it's on your windscreen - done a lot of research on this after an incident I was involved in.

Twice since I have jumped into my car and sped off while the traffic warden was trying to write out a ticket - never received anything.

The trick is not to argue and quickly get in your car and leave
