Would you swap our current team?

Two seasons ago we were starting our campaign with this....

Henderson, Chambers (Stearman 64), N'Gotty, McAuley, Mattock (Hayes 69), Wesolowski, Clemence ©, Kishishev (Campbell 55), Newton, Hume, De Vries. Subs not used: Nielsen, Fryatt.

I reckon we have come along way and every time I look at team sheets like this I feel dirty and used and have to have a shower

Kisnorbo and Hume i'd take....ok Stearman aswell then

Not saying they would all play tho! good back up, well Stearman would as our RB issues at the moment are a shambles and Morrison would fit in nicely then at CB...makes you realise just how bad we are crying out for a decent RB!

Fuck no, I wouldn't swap our current team for that sack of shit, I remember watching that team the first time round and that was enough thanks

This.

Bori was class :o

And lets not forget Zsolts performance against Coventry, amazing

Yeah, they both had decent debuts but as I recall they were both a load of toss after that.

Why the hell would you swap our current team. Who if they win their game in hand we can still be in/near the play off's for a team that got us relegated two season ago. Jesus christ people, three weeks ago everyone was banging on about how amazing we were doing and good it was to be doing well. Now we have lost a few games (1 in the cup obv) but two in a row in the league which isn't the end of the world, everyone has a crap part of the season, then we suddenly want to sack the team the manager and the background staff.

I would not want any players back from that team, we have moved on since then and we are a much better side, the league tells you all you need to know.

Bring on a good result VS Newcastle, confidence will be back up then and suddenly we will be doing well again, and suddenly everyone will be saying how Pearson is a god all over again.

Kisnorbo for Brown

Stearman for Neilson

Bori for Gallagher

Zsolt for Oakley

That, and the ensuing posts, have to rank as the stupidest things you've ever put on this forum.

Salty had one 45 minute performance in him and then that was it while all Bori did was put the hope into 'hopeless willy puller'.

Who are you arguing with?

I don't think one person has said yes and the original post was a question - not a statement

Weale

Stearman Hobbs Kisnorbo Mattock

N'Guessan King Wellens Dyer

Fryatt Waghorn

.... would be nice.

Also, Barry Hayles on a Leicester City team sheet is sickening.

If Danny Cadamarteri was in the listed squad I'd have him back in an instant. Doing the conga up and down the steps of Craven Cottage singing his name goes down as one of my lifes great moments.

Its a shame that the good parts of this forum have absolutely nothing to do with leicester.

I cant stand coming into the main section sometimes. I liked that idea a few weeks back were you have to have like 50 or a hundred posts before you can start your own thread.(EDIT. Just seen its actually a poster a like, oh well this needed to be said anyway).

Sorry to whoever started this thread though, because this is by no means the worst.

Oh and no, wouldnt swap any of them, our team now is fine, if it wasnt we wouldnt be were we are in the league now(Punching above our weight, no matter how many people tipped us to be outsiders for the play offs, a promoted team that are any higher than mid table should be bloody ecstatic, how do you think s****horpe and Peterborough's fans feel???).

There was a period last season on league one were we went on a very bad run, and still ended up running away with the league. Stop fucking panicking, no team can win every game.

If no one would take Kisnorbo over Brown, they need to seek help.

For me personally, I pitted that team against a team with Hobbs and Morrison at centre half, and I wouldn't have Kisnorbo back over them pair. I would have him back over Brown though.

What bugs me about Kisnorbo is that seeing him against Man United and Tottenham, he seems to either be a much better player now or is trying even harder than he did at us. I never saw him pass a ball on the ground in his 2/3 years with us, but at Old Trafford he was stroking it about like nobody's business.

In the few games he played for us last season after coming back from injury he was poor. Very poor. Significantly more of a liability than Wayne Brown. And his foward passing was worse than Brown's. WB's last-ditch tackles and heading back to Weale of dangerous looking long balls has been a big part of why some of our recent defeats haven't seen us over-run. If he wasn't trying to cover the full back areas as well as his own, he'd be a star for us still.

Kissa looked good value playing for Leeds in those cup games, and maybe he was trying to prove a point. He sure as hell wasn't doing that for us last season. I was glad to see the back of him, and so were most people on here, as I recall.

More generally, I might find room in our team for Hume. I wouldn't want the rest back. I'm with the people who've looked at that team and realised how much progress we've actually made. This thread has restored some of my faith in the NP re-building project.

Ahh - you moan in such a polite way that I can't take any offence

Right - to the point...

The reason I wanted people's views on this is because (radical suggestion alert) - I don't think the overall quality of our players is that much greater than the players we had 2 years ago. I think our overall starting 11 are 'slightly better' but nothing more than that. Yes there are a couple of players on that list that are comical, but when we look back at our current 11 in a few years time I'm sure there will be one or two players that we laugh about.

I know a lot of people on here will find it hard to agree, but this is a very positive outlook. I think this is a testiment to NP and it shows two things -

1, he is (on his way to at least) bringing out the best in his players

2, he has managed to change the entire attitude of the team

Even at a time when money seemed to be free flowing, neither Megson nor Holloway could have ever acheived the above. I don't think circumstances are very different to that era though there was never a point in that season where I thought we would finish in the top half. I would be very disssapointed if we finish outside the playoffs and I think that's credit to NP and his team.

Let the abuse commence...

no one would have McAuley back then?

quite suprised at that

He was OK for us in his time here, but we got an over inflated fee for him by Ipswich.

I would have Stearman and Mattock back. It says a lot of how we crying out for some decent fullbacks. I would also find a place for Hume somewhere, and I know I'm alone in that. The rest can go and fuck themselves.

Surprised at people wanting Stearman back as a RB, I know he's been a pretty decent CB at Wolves, but wasn't he average at best for us when used out on the right?

If we're going to play a CB at RB, I'd take Morrison there over Stearman any day.

That said, it was less annoying than Hume being used out of position all the time, would've been interesting to see how he'd done if he'd been here with us throughout League 1 and up to now, instead of being forced out despite wanting to stay (as knowitall said). If I had to pick a single player to bring back from that lot, it'd be him.

Wasn't the original question would you swap the entire team? All or none?

Posted

Anytime I see a topic about former players coming back I get a little twitchy. WHY?? I have read threads about hoping everyone comes back from Davies at Bolton to getting Cleverley back on loan. Why dont people just move on? As for some of the Stearman fans lets just remember how many fans hammered him on this forum? One day with some of our miserable bastard fans and we could turn Messi into Junior Lewis.
