TrickyTrev Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Why does everyone want less football on the box? If you don't want to watch it, do something else, leave the rest of us to enjoy it! To Leicester 1) Own the stadium 2) A sustained period with the same manager and core group of players 3) More people at home games To Football 1) Salary Cap. So we can have more equal competition and we can stop the situation of clubs having to bankrupt themselves in order to compete. At the moment its a complete race to the bottom. If people want to invest in football they can do so in stadiums and youth academies, money that stays in the game. 2) Better TV deal with money distributed through the leagues. Premier League teams need to realize that 15% of them get relegated every season, it makes no sense for this to equal financial ruin. TV money from the Premier League needs to be spread through the leagues. 3) More games on TV in exchange for lower ticket prices. Simple trade off. The clubs can get greater revenues from selling more games on the box, the extra revenue gained is put into lowering the cost of actually going to the game. The Premier League has the power to do this and should do so. Everyone bangs on about the Bundesliga being so great, and a lot more people do get and see it and ticket prices are lower, what they don't realize is that every game is televised in Germany. Clubs in Germany have the sensible attitude of using corporate hospitality and TV revenues as a means of subsidizing cheap tickets. Its high time English football fans took a sensible attitude towards these things rather than being fooked from all directions like we are now. 4) 5 academy trained players in the starting 11. Foreigners have worked wonders for a game and I don't want to go back to all English 11s or anything like that. I just think it helps the fans associate with a club better if there are players in the side that have come through the academy. Has the side benefit of promoting sustainability in our football clubs as well. 5) Scrap the League Cup. Its shit. 6) FA Cup winners get a Champions League place. Smaller clubs not allowed to switch a home tie to an away tie in order to make money.

There's also the NFL where they won't televise a game unless the stadium meets 85% capacity.
TrickyTrev Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 There's also the NFL where they won't televise a game unless the stadium meets 85% capacity. Exactly. Much more innovative. If the clubs want the TV money they have to get people in the stadium. (Although there need to be limits on the number of tickets the club can give to sponsors)
Corky Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Why does everyone want less football on the box? If you don't want to watch it, do something else, leave the rest of us to enjoy it! I think it's more to do with the movement and timing of the games, making it more difficult for people to attend for various reasons.
Tommeh Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Scrap the league Cup God help us if these opinions actually exist.

I don't mind unless it is done at short notice. If sky just picked the games at the beginning of the season then I don't really see that much cost of going on a Sunday rather than a Saturday.
Tilley Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 People to stop moaning about what they want in football. Nothing will change while Blatter, Scudamore etc are in charge.
TrickyTrev Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Scrap the league Cup God help us if these opinions actually exist. Its a competition which fans, players and managers alike so no interest in. Everyone is complaining about us having too many fixtures. Why do we need a 2nd domestic knock out competition?
Tilley Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Its a competition which fans, players and managers alike so no interest in. Try telling that to Ferguson, Mancini and the whole of Manchester!
Corky Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Its a competition which fans, players and managers alike so no interest in. Everyone is complaining about us having too many fixtures. Why do we need a 2nd domestic knock out competition? It mattered to us when we reached three finals in four years. It mattered to Villa fans when they invaded the pitch after the game last week, getting to Wembley. If you don't like it, don't enter. Let clubs who want to be in it compete. It offers a trip to Wembley and a place in Europe.
hairy Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Football was better when everyone smoked, wore sheepskin coats and had dollybirds draped over their Ford Fiestas.I propose that in order to improve the game: Everyone has to have a perm and/or facial hair growth All shirts to be made of 100% cotton Games to go ahead regardless of weather conditions Reintroduction of rattles, caps and crates of brown ale Small children to be lifted onto the edge of the pitch Salaries limited to £250 p/w with a £50 brown envelope bonus for those who tried Terracing Turnstyle payments Jimmy Rimmer to give sandcastle building lessons to all keepers Scrap the transfer windows, open up transfers over the entire season Some good points well made and presented but you forgot pole dancers on the goals at each end for halftime entertainment
Tommeh Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Its a competition which fans, players and managers alike so no interest in. Everyone is complaining about us having too many fixtures. Why do we need a 2nd domestic knock out competition? So the only major domestic trophy we've won, we have no interest in? The 5,500, 4,000 and 6,500 we took to Forest, Villa and Chelsea had no interst in it. Did 75,000 at old trafford or the millions watching over the country on Wednesday night have no interest in it? Did the thousands of Villa invading the pitch a week ago have no interest? Did Mancini and fergie picking full strength sides have no interest? I'm sorry but it's a ridiculous thing to say. If anything it's the silly Europa league and Champions league group stages which need scrapping.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Its a competition which fans, players and managers alike so no interest in. Everyone is complaining about us having too many fixtures. Why do we need a 2nd domestic knock out competition? Tommeh's answered this rubbish ^ spot on. Do you write off our two League Cup wins then? Did you think they don't care so I don't care?
C-man Posted 29 January 2010 Author Posted 29 January 2010 People to stop moaning about what they want in football.Nothing will change while Blatter, Scudamore etc are in charge. Nothing wrong with wanting change. It's just a shame fans have literally no opportunity to change anything. Having opinions used to be something that made football. The lack of being able to show those opinions just might be what eventually drives fans away from it.
Guest Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Why does everyone want less football on the box? If you don't want to watch it, do something else, leave the rest of us to enjoy it! If the clubs want the TV money they have to get people in the stadium. If you want more people in the stadium, games must be played at times when fans can get to games. If games are being moved to Sundays, when public transport is gash, or to Monday nights, when fans are having to take time off of work, then it's easy to see why TV games attract lower attendances. In this day and age, both home and away fans are affected, as people move away from their home or adopted towns. Also, with more games on the TV, some fans who may have attended a match had there been no games on TV will change their minds about going if they see that they can stay at home and watch two or three televised games, whilst enjoying a few beers.
Narborough Bod Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 I honestly never thought I'd see the day when I would back a wage cap but the way the games gone I would welcome nothing more, along with other silly ideas that I would never of backed 10 years ago like drafting caps on transfer budgets limits on forigen players etc. The one thing I'd want from Leicester City is for them to give me the desire to go and watch them again. Couldn't agree more, but I'd like a salary cap as low as £10k / week, with unlimited bonus payments, thus united could pay Rooney £150k / goal and actually give him the incentive to score goals. City 1 - A local investor a la David Wilson comes in with money 2 - Terracing back in the Kop, combined with the away fans being moved to the kop / east stand corner 3 - No more goal music Football 1 - As mentioned, £10k salary cap 2 - Old style European knock out football - European Cup, Cup Winners Cup and the Uefa cup 3 - An end to the in / out administration scenario - you fo into administration, you can't sign players for x amount of time and are hit with a salary cap for the next 5 years
lcfc_jme Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 To us (essentially copied other peoples' posts)... 1. Have a secure financial future. 2. Win the FA Cup and see us play in Europe. 3. Every game, home and away, win or lose, rain or shine, to be like Continental SK1 v Swansea. 4. To go back to Stoke in the Cup or even league if they go down/we go up and fucking destroy the tinpot cunts. I fucking hate Stoke. 5. Get rid of Goal Music. 6. Fuck this family-orientated atmosphere right off. Have families included, but don't over-prioritise them especially at the expense of other age groups. To football in general... 1. Safe standing areas to be introduced in every ground in England. 2. Every game, no matter what league or how important, to kick off at 3PM on a Saturday, the way it was meant to be. 3. The mass-media/commercial entities to stop undermining the sport and those who follow it. 3. Have the game at all levels run by people who aren't corrupt morons. 4. Everybody in and connected with the Premier League to go tits up and fuck themselves. 5. MK Dons to go out of business and never be seen again in any guise whatsoever. 6. Stewards to stop being complete jobsworth cunts hell-bent on ruining everyone's enjoyment of the game. Frank Burrows.
Guest Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Some good points well made and presented but you forgot pole dancers on the goals at each end for halftime entertainment Liking this, although maybe just at one end. If we are going to have to have a family stand at one end then it stands to reason we should have the antithesis of a family stand at the other, over 18s only in the kop
lildave3 Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Scrap a domestic cup? Add another in seems more like it to me
lou Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 For City Financial security Honest chairman whos a fan (and loaded) Ground that was ours! No Goal Music Free hot dogs at every game for LD3 Fooball in General 3pm Saturdays kick off only Standing areas Salary caps Never to allow the subject of Celtic and Rangers joining the Prem to be discussed again Get Cardiff and Swansea out of our leagues
Tomassi Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 As with everything else in life, money has ruined football, but it is never too late. Football in General 1. Introduce total salary caps and bonus caps of Senior playing squad - If the players dont like it, they can go elsewhere in europe to earn more money = more english players abroad = more english players playing at the top level as it would not be as lucratively attractive to non-british players moving to the PL. I'm no financial expert but this could essentially help clubs tackle their finances a lot better as they would never over-spend on wages. Loyalty may return to clubs as players may not move around so much if the wages are the same at different clubs, and fans may stop being so cold towards players as they may not moan so much about them being on 20K a week and getting little value for money back. 2. Introduce Squad caps over 21 - If a club has a squad cap of say 23 players over the age of 21, then when injuries / suspensions occur managers would then be forced to use the youth team members. Clubs should be able to have as many under 21 players as they like, but as soon as they are 21 they would be classed as a 'senior' member. This would encourage clubs to develop their youth systems (even though a lot of clubs do this anyway), and would encourage youngsters as there is nothing better than gaining match experience. 3. I like the idea of making the Carling Cup regional but only up until the Quarter Final stage. This would mean more local derbies = higher attendance (in theory), and the FA should cap the prices per round to encourage more fans to come, eg first round FREE for all season ticket holders, upto the quarters £10 Adult, £5 Child, Quarters and Semis £15 Adult £7.50 Child etc. The FA Cup should stay as it is, purely for the minnows to have a chance against big teams, but price caps could also be a good idea here also. Leicester City 1. To be more family orientated. Obviously there is a family stand, but there should be more offers to make it more affordable for families to attend matches, say kids go free with paying adults (they will make some money back on the kiosks anyway). And we wonder why there are so many kids wearing Man Utd or Liverpool tops, they just aren't encouraged enough to watch our home team. 2. More rewards for season ticket holders. For example a free (or half price) Home Replica Shirt for every season ticket holder and a free home Carling Cup ticket. 3. Moaning fans. Lets face it, they are at every club in the country so its not solely at leicester fans, but when players make mistakes or just not playing well, its not going to help them being baracked! Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it gets pathetic when centain players get subjected to constant abuse.
lildave3 Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Free hot dogs at every game for LD3 You've got my vote.

And it's not because they're not encouarged to watch their local team that you see swathes of kids roaming around in Man Ure/Liverpool/Chelsea tops, it's because certain kids are just born cunts. The club do plenty to encourage young'uns to follow City (cheap tickets for local clubs/schools) but when all's said and done there are certain children in this world who are glory hunters. Simple.
Mack Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 I dont know if it's been mentioned here before, but Sky Sports is a big poison in our game. Whilst they do inject a lot of cash into the game it is very much focused on the clubs that live exclusively in the Premier League. TV money is the dominant force in football nowadays, fans and their pound are very much a poor third best behind telly and sponsorship money, and those you speak of that buy replica shirts and sit in their armchair and never set foot in the stadium of their team are the new breed of fan created in the Sky sports era. I know Greek football very well, and there are teams on the Greek top flight that only have an handful of fans, no more than 1500-2000, and they survive from TV and sponsorship money. The fan is a complete irrelevance and that is a frightening thought.
