"Coun Hall said he was in discussions about his chosen charity and his consort and they would be announced later in the year".

Just wondering how he is going to go about choosing this "consort" ?

Haven't you heard that he gets mobbed by lasses on Market Street, his main problem will be picking only one

Wonder if Ultra Colin will be on expenses. If we hear about Moat's being cleaned out....

(I know he's Mayor, not an MP)

Well he hasn't posted in here. It would certainly be sensible for him not to be posting crap on here. On that note, someone point out to the Merc that he is Ultra and see what stories come out :)

I had one of my office ladies in on her day off and offered her £10 per post that the press would be interested in. She'll never earn so much money in one day again and I'll never get so much value for money again.

Every dog has it's day.

Woof Woof.

lol I wonder if he wears it round the house all day. I can imagine him standing in the kitchen poppin a couple of slices of Warburtons in the toaster, doing a 360 spin on one heel and singin 'eeeee heeeeeee' while pointing in a Michael Jackson style in full Mayor gear!

I would sit there at home all day in the gear with me feet up on the poufey with remote in me hand saying to the wife "get me a Peporoni and a can a Stella out the fridge woman." :D

He's not the Lord Mayor until May hence the inclusion in the topic Title of the word '"next".

From the Merc

People could soon be seeing a lot less of the incoming Lord Mayor of Leicester – thanks to fitness guru Rosemary Conley.

New Parks councillor Colin Hall, who is due to be sworn in as Leicester's first citizen next month, weighs over 16 stone and wants to lose up to three stone.

So when he met Rosemary – famous for inventing the Hip and Thigh Diet – at the opening of New Parks library, he asked for her help.

She suggested he take more exercise, so he plans to walk to as many civic engagements as he can instead of turning up in the mayoral Mercedes.

Rosemary also talked to him about his diet.

Coun Hall said he planned to overhaul the food served at civic functions to include much more fruit and veg, rather than cakes and samosas.

Coun Hall said: "One of the things I'll be doing in my year as Lord Mayor is promoting health and wellbeing and I thought I should really set an example.

"My body mass index is 34 and anything over 30 is considered obese. So I decided I would be following a diet during my year in office.

"I had a chat with Rosemary Conley a few days ago and she said she was happy to help me lose some pounds.

"I'm 46 and if I can lose at least three stone it might tempt other people to follow my example."

Rosemary, who lives in Ashby Folville, near Melton, said: "I think it is fantastic that the new Lord Mayor wants to get fitter and healthier during his year as mayor.

"It will set a great example to everyone."

Mr Hall is planning to weigh in at a full health check to be held on May 28, the day after he is sworn in as Leicester's Lord Mayor.

Advisers will then help him set a strict weight target. He plans to meet Rosemary again for more tips on losing weight.

He said: "My plan is to walk to all engagements within a certain radius of the Town Hall, subject to weather conditions.

"That will help with pollution and city centre congestion if I'm not using the mayoral car.

"I'll also be speaking with caterers to make sure everything served at my events is healthy and that there's plenty of fruit and veg available.

"Hopefully, this is something that will make a difference for other people."

Mr Hall, who is currently the High Bailiff of Leicester, is a Labour councillor. He was first elected to Leicester City Council in 1991, serving Belgrave ward.

His father, John, also served on the city council between 1971 and 1987 and his mother, Marilyn, was Lady Mayoress of Leicester for Councillor Phil Swift in 1999 and 2000.

How about not wasting tax payers money on civic functions? And a Mayoral mercedes? Radical I know.

I am sure Colin will pay tax on the Benefit In Kind he is recieveing from Rosemary as a direct result of his status as Lord Mayor in waiting :)
