SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 Anyone else looking foward to this? How will Great Britan do? Will you beat Australia? I think Australia will win 2 gold Aerial female freesyle just been watching the world cup we got gold and 4th. Also think Dale begg-smith in the moguls will win gold.
Wycombe Fox Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 I'm really looking forward to it. Love ski-ing. This is the first winter for 4 years that we haven't been. Mrs Isle of Wight Fox wants a 'hot' holiday this year We've been going to the resort, Morillon in France, where Antoine Deneriaz (current Olympic downhill champion) comes from. His pictures are all over the place!
Fosse Boy Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 Looking forward to the Ice Hockey tournament. That sport's really grown on me in the last couple of months. Think I'll support the Czechs...
hairy Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 I like the snowboard racing. Nothing better than seeing a load of twats making fools of themselves. I hate boarders Saw there was going to be some type of ski racing this year. Four going for it oevr jumps and stuff

Really looking forward to this. Almost prefer this to the normal Olympics. The Snowboard racing with the ramps etc is the best, yes i don't actually know the name of it
brad1875 Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 Should be good too watch Downhill Sking is probs the best imo... although the bobsleighing (or however its spelt), is pretty good to watch too
Lillehamring Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 obviously, this has taken on new meaning for me, been watching the ski-shooting and ski-jump most sundays on the tv. both quite entertaining events... and, hell yeah, i will be glory seeking and support norway
Jimothy Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 I prefer the Summer Olympics on a sporting level, but I love the Winter Olympics on a comedy level. People falling over/crashing. Crazy things like the Aussie speed skater winning gold after everyone else fell over. Crashes in the bobsleigh/luge etc (granted not fun if you're involved in the crash). Mass brawls in the Ice hockey. It's great fun to watch.

Jimothy Posted 3 February 2010 Posted 3 February 2010 yeah, but imagine falling over at 70mph at the bottom of one of these: Yeah, and I'm not doing it so it makes brilliant television if they do...and survive. Terrible television if they don't though
Jordan Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 Looking forward to the Ice Hockey tournament. That sport's really grown on me in the last couple of months. Think I'll support the Czechs... As a hockey fan, I'm looking forward to this, too. As a fan of the USA, considering their roster, I'll amend my previous statement to say I'm looking forward to this tournament except for most of the USA's games. They only give three medals, so I don't think we're gonna win one.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 February 2010 Author Posted 4 February 2010 Hey Valengra have you ever been to Lillehammer? I go there after Oslo and apparently you can go on a bobsleigh ride on the original track, but it will be summer so not sure if it will be available. Jimmymac love how Steve Bradbury won gold by having a guy disqualified so in the quarters to promote him to the Semis. Then 2 guys fall in the Semis so he makes the final. Then all 4 other competiors fall on the final bend and he wins gold. Fav sporting memory.

It was almost like he was destined to win that gold. The events that conspired to get him there will never happen again.

The events that conspired to get him there will never happen again. He actually won Australias first ever medal 8 years earlier. In the team relay where one team fell and left only 3 teams and Australia to win Bronze. Great Autobiography he has, amazing to read howhe toiled for years with no success barely surving with little income and even almost dieing on the ice after being cut by another skaters skates. Then finally gets sucsess and recognition in that way.

I thought the female snowboard racing final was the best last time around. One girl was miles infront (I think she was French) so being a boarder she decided to do some showboating on the final three jumps. The brilliance of when she went arse-over-tit on the last to fall out of the medal positions is with me today.

I go there after Oslo and apparently you can go on a bobsleigh ride on the original track, but it will be summer so not sure if it will be available. I did a four man bob in La Plagne last year. Website The experience wasn't that great. 70 seconds of your head being banged about and not being able to see where you were going all for a cool 110euros (each!). Anexperience that I wouldn't rush to do again but the box ticked on the 'done that' list.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 This ought to get you in the mood. Classic theme. They only give three medals, so I don't think we're gonna win one. Are there restrictions on NHL players playing or anything like that?

Part Of The Crowd Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 The massive screen in the centre of Plymouth near my flat that shows the news has been putting on clips from Cool Runnings for the past couple of days, I'm right in the mood for this now. And I'm going to watch Cool Runnings.
Wycombe Fox Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 I did a four man bob That just sounds wrong
Wycombe Fox Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 This is the actual footage of the Jamaican Bobsleigh team crash that was featured in Cool Runnings;
Head Honcho Posted 4 February 2010 Posted 4 February 2010 Snowboard cross for me. The womens final in Turin was amazing. Stupid cow
Lillehamring Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 i think it'll be worth watching just to see A Wank
The Doctor Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 the winter olympics won't be quality until they introduce some extreme sports such as yak skiing, Still one of the funniest sporting events in the calander though.
