Fox You Forest Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Is it really worth bothering with all these hockey games, should just skip to the Canada v USA final and draw someone out of a hat for the bronze.
Jimothy Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Is it really worth bothering with all these hockey games, should just skip to the Canada v USA final and draw someone out of a hat for the bronze. I've just seen the Women Ice Hockey league table and Canada have +27 goal difference after 2 games!
Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Three times Gold so far. Not too shabby for a country of this small size.
Jordan Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Three times Gold so far. Not too shabby for a country of this small size. You're going down at GMCanada Hockey Place tomorrow  (though I must say, the Swiss team's jerseys this year are unique, old school and IMO beautiful)
Samilktray Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 These are shit. Snowboarding is alright, but everything else is boring as hell. Skiing is the worst use of snow I've ever seen, so boring.
Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 That depends. If you compare it to Norway's haul over the years, it's not that impressive; if you compare it to Denmark, it's brilliant. Mind you the highest 'mountain' here is 174 metres! it's all about Liechtenstein really... i get the feeling that all these freestyle events have been brought in mainly because the americans tend to dominate them, it's their way of catching up with norway

Halfpipe snowboarding is not a sport; snowboard cross is. [edit to add that you're going down on the curling rink tomorrow! ] These are shit.Snowboarding is alright, but everything else is boring as hell. Different strokes for different folks, but yesterday's Nordic Combined 10km was easily one of the most exciting athletic events I've seen recently. And short track? Great stuff.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 February 2010 Author Posted 16 February 2010 Probably prefer the Winter Olympics than the Summer Games
shen Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Is it really worth bothering with all these hockey games, should just skip to the Canada v USA final and draw someone out of a hat for the bronze. Men's hockey is usually extremely competitive
Fox You Forest Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Men's hockey is usually extremely competitive Yeah perhaps should have stated I meant the ladies, I haven't watched any of the men's hockey.
MC Prussian Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Yeah perhaps should have stated I meant the ladies, I haven't watch any of the men's hockey. That'd have been impossible, anyway - it starts today. And the Swiss are bold favourites... for a fifth place finish. If we get a good run together just like four years ago, we might even be able to scare the mighty Russians, se Yanks or les Canadiens. But I can't see us finish with a medal in this category. We don't have enough offensive firepower - defense is sorta settled with GK Hiller (Anaheim Ducks) and DF Mark Streit (New York Islanders) now completing the squad.
Fox You Forest Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 That'd have been impossible, anyway - it starts today. That'd be why then. Hopefully their wont be so many 12/13/14-0's.

I don't care much for the Islanders but Streit is, IMO, one of the more underrated defensemen in the NHL. He's a legitimate #1-pairing d-man that can also pass the puck well and is very valuable on the power play. I'm really excited for today, even though Canada vs. Norway could turn into a romp. I'll get home at around 4:45 pm Eastern, so I'll miss at least the first 30 minutes and then some of the USA-Switzerland game, so I'll try to DVR it (though I'm sure I'll check the score while at work )
hairy Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Super combined skiing tonight along with more snowboard cross
Part Of The Crowd Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I've just realised they've put this over Diagnosis Murder in the afternoons. I'm not fooking happy.

Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 cool. just seen group A in the mens ice hockey: Usa, Canada, Norway & Switzerland... :w00t: hmmm, i predict a solid 4th for norway... ...very tight in the curling but loses for norway and scotland, sorry, great britain...
Wycombe Fox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Women's Snowboard Cross in about 15 minutes. Should be good.
Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Women's Snowboard Cross in about 15 minutes. Should be good. nah, cross country pursuit is where it's at...
MC Prussian Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Meh. Not overly fussed about tonight's hockey score. The US deservedly beat us with little effort. The 3-1 is a fair result, the Yanks were simply quicker at any given point in the game, more present and much more skilled on an individual basis (hardly a surprise with 23 vs. 2 NHL pros in line). Although, there's one point of criticism:They still have to settle as a collective - there's too many single-action plays coming from the boys in red, white & blue. We might as well already give up now - but not after giving Norway a beating. Canada's way out of reach for Switzerland in this tournament. I will thus settle for 3rd place in this group A.

Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Not even Ball tickling? um, no, but obviously if it was an event they'd be world champions....
