This ought to get you in the mood. Classic theme.

Are there restrictions on NHL players playing or anything like that?

No--but it looks like Canada, Russia, Sweden (and arguably Finland and the Czech Republic) have better NHL players than us this time around. :(

On paper, this Canadian team looks like one of the best hockey teams ever assembled--potentially the best national team since Canada's 1987 Canada Cup team.

At least the likely starting goaltender for the USA is Ryan Miller, who's playing out of his mind for the Buffalo Sabres this year. In a short tournament (only 6 or 7 games total for teams that reach the medal round), hot goaltending can be all the difference... just ask "King" Henrik Lundqvist and the 2006 Swedish team.

unfortunately, I'll be working during a lot of the games, but I will be all over this tournament.

(One thing to take note: Unlike Olympics past, these games will be played on rinks with narrower NHL dimensions)

Did I forget to mention curling?

I did?

Sorry about that; I'll do a better job to discuss curling more often in the future.

Lindsey Vonn is a sexy bea... a sexist with a hunch for sexually explicit poses. lol

That's not bad form on the tuck... except for the whole looking-at-the-camera thing :D

BTW, Vonn's hurt and is now doubtful for the Olympics. Sadface.

Bad ain't it. It hasn't even started yet. It's going to be mass suicide in the curling, throwing landmines

That, plus Ludmila Privivkova is a bombshell.

Ono is a star one of the most decorated Winter Olympions in history now with a silver yesterday.

I officially love Torah Bright and she is a massive chance to win gold.

What a race! South Korea was 1-2-3 on the final lap and doing the team-skating cheap stuff again... they had the medal sweep locked down, but on the last turn one of their skaters tried to squeeze by on an inside pass, took himself and a teammate crashing into the wall and let Ohno and fellow American J.R. Celski skate past for silver and gold. Ha!

Nordic combined was incredible entertainment... Johnny Spillane won the USA's first ever medal in the event; three of the top six were Yanks and the gold medalist from France was even born in the USA :P The cross-country skiing half of the event was intense. What a concept: ski jumping followed by cross-country skiing!

Men's 10km biathalon was on today, though I'm not sure that lends itself well to television.

ESPN has an Olympics Pick 'em game, where they give a choice of two outcomes for selected events each day, and whomever selects the most correct picks wins. Right now I'm sitting in the 93rd percentile, and I've picked either Aussie Begg-Smith or France's Colas to win moguls tonight and Finland to beat Russia in women's hockey. F the pairs figure skating; I'm gonna watch women's hockey now lol

I seriously can't get enough of this shit; I'm so white.

When I went skiing I was told to hate snowboarders as the enemy, but I've got to admit Snowboard Cross is a fucking brilliant sport to watch.

Reminds me of playing Cool Boarders on Playstation.

quality event, that norway usual excel in, obviously, but repeating the underperformances of the last olympics :(

mind you, losing gold on the men's downhill by 0.07 seconds is harsh.

Three times Gold so far. Not too shabby for a country of this small size.

That depends. If you compare it to Norway's haul over the years, it's not that impressive; if you compare it to Denmark, it's brilliant. Mind you the highest 'mountain' here is 174 metres!

Was watching the skiing earlier. makes me laugh when they mess up a jump, land on one leg and still manage to stay on their feet. Unbelievable balance. Been to that Whistler mountain they ski down. Brilliant place

Snowboard cross has annoyed me and ruined my day. We are going to battle to win medals so every chance needs to be taken. In the qualifying Chumpy Pullin qualified fastest out of the 32 but crashes in the first round when leading so frustrating and feel bad for him.
