What are your earliest memories of Leicester City?

Anyone else still get a bit of a chill when they walk up the stairs and see the pitch and the stadium? When I was little I thought it was incredible, the place was massive and I was a little intimidated by it. :)

Too busy going through five levels of passport control in L1.

I do love a big match occasion when there's more people than seats and a full away stand though. That gets you going.

Think it was 3-1 actually. Matt Jones' debut.

That was my first game too. Just about remember someone with no hair scoring...Must have been Elliot. When players were subbed I used to think they were going off for a toilet break :giggle:

Oct 73, taken by my uncle for my 7th birthday

Luton at Home. In the small end underneath the Exec boxes.

0-0 All I remember in it is Keith Weller Challenging their keeper for a through ball, Lenny Glover running down the wing and Luton's orange shirts!

My next two matches, 4-0 Home to Newcaslte, Chris Garland scored a hat trick I think and Leeds 2-1 under lights in half term from the top of the double decker. Worthington scored both

As a seven year old, the top of the double decker was a long way up, I could just about see from the near penalty spot out, no hope of seeing the near goal!

Think it was Boxing day '92 at filbert street, against Sunderland, was 0-0, probably the worst game ever but i loved it, even got to shake filberts hand.

Yeah, It's a beautiful sight. The sight of Green grass when you come out of the concourse is overwhelming.

3-0 against liverpool, 62 or 63 season. sat on the front row in the double decker, travelled from lutterworth on the train to the now defunct midland station. the whole atmosphere blew my mind as a 10 year old. was fascinated by the glow of people lighting cigarettes in the main stand. the start of a long standing relationship. next game we beat sheff utd 3-1, always remember their full back being hit full in the face by the ball (footballers had big brown heavy balls in those days). he swayed back and forth for a bit then collapsed in a heap. no subs in those days, so he came back on after regaining concionsness but hadn't a clue what was going on for the rest of the match! :crylaugh:

Yes.

But, the whole thing about going to watch the football is great though.

I get up and think "ohh yes its 'x' at home or away today".

But, the thing where you walk up the stairs is great. Away matches are even better, ecspecially if it is your first visit to that particular ground.

Now I would have been 3 or 4 at the time so I may have made this up/dreamt it over the past 17 years but bare with me.

I swear that at a particular game, it may have been Sheffield Wednesday (not sure why they pop into my mind but there must be a reason) there were people sitting on the roof of one of the stands at Filbert Street. I remember being dead scared for them in case they fell off. Someone tell me this actually happened and people sat up there because it's like my earliest memory ever and you'll ruin my life if it didn't.

Now tell us yours!

That used to happen quite a bit. I may be wrong about the team we played - I think it was Spurs - people were sitting on top of the East stand and someone did fall off.

That was Cambridge United on the Tuesday Night after Easter. We won 2-1 and I believe there was about 5-600 people locked out.

I was one of the 500 or so locked out that night, played football on filbert street about 40 a side!

Earliest memories are Burnley at home 82/83 in front of 30000 for promotion, 0-0 and im sure Lee Dixon hooked a lob from Alan Smith off the line. Can also remember City beating Villa 5-0 in an early saturday morning kick off? Lineker hat trick 84/85 season.

Also being beaten in 87 by Oxford in the league cup 2-3 at Home, I think mike newell scored but it went to ET and they handled the ball en route to goal and scored, id not seen any major reactions towards referee's in the games that I had been to previous but that night he was covered in spit as he walked off down the tunnel, all gobbed from the members enclosure.

1960. My dad took me to White Hart Lane. Spurs had remained unbeaten at home for over a year. We won 2-0., and produced a wonderful game of football. Definately the greatest side we have ever had, were those between then and 1964. What would these players cost on todays market? A bloody fortune. Happy days, and great memories, of superb all round skill. Thank you Matt Gillies, you were the greatest Leicester Manager ever. R.I.P.

My earliest memory is listening to us beating Stoke 1-0 in the ply off semi 1996 on the radio in my bedroom. 1st game was Utd at home a little under a year later, drew 2-2, quality game. Think it was an early kick off (rare back then) and there was a special, early MOTD that evening for the game. It was before the Eurovision i think...is that complete bollocks?! I think i'm right!

My earliest memories are of the back of someone's head in the Double Decker - I have no idea who we played in my first few games, as I couldn't see a thing.

Those were the days. If we scored from a corner at that goal, the first time you'd see it would be on Central News on Monday.

I wish we had some pics, be cool to see my earliest memory in pictorial form.

My first real memory that I can recall properly was when we played Southampton in the cup mhen KK was still their hero. We played them off the park and won 3-1 I think though the goal that Keegan scored should never have counted. I remember virtually all of Filbert St chanting cheat over and over again at the ref. Pretty exciting for a 6 year old.

Also the first ever away game was against Portsmouth away on a bank Holiday August weekend. We got mullered 3-0 and I was in with the Portsmouth fans along with my dad. It was fooking awful though I remember the noise coming from the Leicester fans behind the goal and wishing I was in amongst them. I even got to throw the ball to Tony Spearing which was about the only time he trapped the ball all match!!

I was at that cup final, really thought we were going to win that day. Sick as the proverbial to lose, not even having the goal scorer in the sweep made up for it.

Bloody Neil Young, went on to make some decent albums though....

That notts game was my first match too. I'm sure Tommy Wright scored the winner, 1991/92 season. Was 8. Simod cup or Zenith data cup or whatever it was called back then. Sitting in the double decker so didn't even see the winning goal as I was only small. Still got me hooked though.
