Hitesh Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I've just found a video of the game I was talking about earlier! here
MrSpaM Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Sittin in the away end when we played derby at filbert street because they were the only tickets left, and my dad telling me to sit down when we scored I was too young to realise i nearly got my Dad chined,
hairy Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Playing Liverpool in the league under Jock Wallace. City were doing well in the league and up there with Liverpool. They had Keegan on the wing and we had men in tights. Sat in the old shed, think I was about 9 or 10.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I remember my family listening to City beat Liverpool on Boxing Day 1984, and being quite impressed by that. I was so excited that about 9 years later I actually went to a game
foxhound Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Leicester 0 Liverpool 4 in 1977. wasn't into football at the time as we had moved to Coventry. My dad had a meeting and one of his friends took me to the game to keep me occupied.
CosbehFox Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Earliest memories were watching grandstand and noticing we'd lost.at Tranmere. Then the build up to the playoff final against Blackburn. First watching memory was against Peterborough, first game of the season and the Carling Stand was being built with the workmen watching. That was the season I really got into, we nearly every Saturday hone game except Wolves and Norwich. Last day of season against Stoke or Bolton I wore full kit. Then when we went to get a ticket for the Tranmere semi, kop only available. It was deemed too dangerous. Also remember staying up to see highlights of Derby v us at Filbo on Central TV. Football was so much better when I didn't have the nous to moan or complain. Back when it wasn't quite as money orientated.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Losing to Sheffield Wednesday away 1-0, my first ever game. Remember it seemed like ages to get there, but I remember how noisy it was and I was only 5 so I was really excited. We lost 1-0 to a Di Canio peno cant remember any of the game but my Dad always said he dived!
PAULCFC Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Mid 70's in the old main stand,i was 7 or 8 and my dad took me.Remember sitting on one of the pillars near the tunnel. Was either against Palace or Man city 'cause they both had similar kits with the sash.My dad still says i was looking everywhere but at the pitch!
acooling08 Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I think my 1st game was a 0-5 loss against Bolton as Filbert Street... About 2000 not exactly sure of the year.
Corky Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 The first season I can remember was 95/96, with Iwan and Scotty Taylor the heartbeat of the side Sitting in the Upper South Stand
georgialcfc Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 My earliest memory would be going to sheffield united away and going in to the Sheffield united working mans club and winning a signed ball by the sheffield united players. I tried to sell it in the bar but even the sheff u fans didnt want to buy it . We went on to win 3-1 with scotty taylor scoring one of the goals cant remember who got the others.
AndyBrew Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 9 Nov 1984 Leicester v Man Utd turned up to buy a family enclosure ticket on the day but they weren't selling them, didn't have enough money to buy a ticket anywhere else, sat on the railings outside the club shop, I must have looked suicidal, next thing Alan Smith turns up and asks me whats wrong, 20 minutes later I had a ticket for the west stand we lost 3 - 2 but it was a cracking game and had me hooked. Having never been to Leicester other than driving through with my parents etc. I got completely lost and after wandering around for several hours ended up at the Holiday Inn where the nice receptionist rang my mum who came and picked me up, this last bit was a bit shit but never put me off
Ashley Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I'm still only a young lad but i've had my season ticket since I was 6 or 7 years old, some of my earliest memories from filbert street are. Leicester 3 - 3 Arsenal - Cracking game Leicester ?-? Chelsea - Steve Guppy curling one in from the right wing I think it was Leicester ?-? Chelsea - where the turnstiles used to be for the Kop on burnmoor street and where the away fans used to come out of all being lined up with police in riot gear and shields all the other way to brazil street? because of trouble inside the ground and it was kicking off all outside the ground Leicester 3-2 Fulham - Carling cup quater final i think geoff horsfield and paul peschsolido scoring for them, I can remember ian marshal scoring for us Leicester - Aston Villa, carling cup semis
Donut Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I hadnt been to watch Leicester LIVE at that time But i do remember watching the thrilling play off final game with Swindon (Swindon in the premiership, jesus), fighting back from 3 0 down and then the penalty decision, think it was Paul Bodin who was fouled. First ACTUAL game was in the 1995/1996 promotion season Leicester v West Brom (Result was 2-1 West Brom) Remember two things distinctly about the game, not a lot else about it though 1) Iwan Roberts was taken off with an injury only a minute into the game 2) Richard Sneekers scoring a 30 yard BELTER for the baggies Then the following week we put away Oldham 2-0 at Filbo, think Claridge may have got both of them on the night, certainly got the second one because he ran from the half way line.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 I think my 1st game was a 0-5 loss against Bolton as Filbert Street... About 2000 not exactly sure of the year. First game of our relegation season that started under Peter 'the tw*t' Taylor. 4-0 down by half time against newly promoted Bolton... it was so farcical we even started helping the Bolton fans out when they started cheering "We want more" and they helped us out with the "We want Taylor out!" Dreadful match... unfortunate game to start with really...
Ibbyfox Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 My first game was home against the mighty Bournemouth in the old Division 2!! I think it was the 1988/89 season or might have been the season before. Can't remember anything about the game other than how fantastic the pitch looked from the Kop when I first walked in, and that we lost 1-0 in an awful game. Was hooked all the same though and next game I went to soon after and we beat Brum 2-0 with 2 early goals and I remember saying to my mate that we would get 6 ............ oh how naive was I?!!
wirralsimon Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Leicester vs Leeds in 1972/3 season. Can't remember much about the game except we won and Terry Yorath got sent off! Simon
Jay1982 Posted 5 February 2010 Posted 5 February 2010 Being Indian, I was 9 years old and we were 'shopping' in Wembley (the town!) when I saw thousands of city supporters there for the game against Swindon, Play off final. It just made me damn proud and ive supported City since!!! (Actually I cant remember if it was against Swindon or Blackburn) nonetheless.....Proud moment!!
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 I've just found a video of the game I was talking about earlier! here Oh wow, my first match. Thanks. My first City memory is when my dad bought me a 1990-92 away kit, but it didn't mean much to me at the time, I also waited in the Filbert Street car park for my dad to get some tickets, and I vaguely remember my parents dropping me off at my nannas so they could go to the Swindon playoff final, I didn't start to get into football until 1994.
Fox92 Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 The earliest match I remember going to was Sunderland away on 11th September 1999, the score was 2-0 to Sunderland I think, with Paul Butler and someone else scoring, can't remember who though. I remember that match in particular because of the Sunderland fans. We sat next to them and I remember them well... A shame Sunderland won 2-0 though.

A match that sticks in my mind although not my first was the 8-4 win over manchester city in div. 1 1957/58 season scorers for CityWalsh J. 4, Riley H. 2, Hines d. and Hogg D. 1 a piece. derek hogg being a 'tricky' left winger and Howard Riley a quick right winger a local lad from Wigston. I sat on the wall at the back of the popular stand in the corner. Great atmosphere back then.
jonthefox Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 My first game was against liverpool in 74. I remember we were in the old main stand and i was so little , it hurt my legs to walk up the steps. we lost btw.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 I'm a young lad still. Can't remember which season, Was about 1999 , We played Man City at Filbert Street, Drew 1-1 I think. Always remember walking down past the Canal, and Walking around the ground and seeing a massive white BBC wagon for Match of the day.
Leicfox Posted 6 February 2010 Posted 6 February 2010 English Division 1 (old) Leicester City 3-0 Manchester United 23-11-1985 That was my first game. Utd fans starting ripping seats out and throwing them onto the pitch. Thats what i remember anyway.
Ozwin Posted 6 February 2010 Author Posted 6 February 2010 Anyone else still get a bit of a chill when they walk up the stairs and see the pitch and the stadium? When I was little I thought it was incredible, the place was massive and I was a little intimidated by it.
