milan_foxes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Every since he's been here i've liked him. I think he could get in the team ahead of Howard any day IMO, the most obvious thing is he jumps higher than him. Howard's.... 6.3ft Kermo's.... 6ft After watching the Southampton/Pompey match, in a way he's abit like Ricky Lambert. Your thoughts?
acooling08 Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Brilliant in the air, not really seen enough of him though.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 No striker's instinct from what I've seen, just looks short of confidence in and around the box. Needs a goal to kickstart his Leicester career before it's on the scrapheap. He seems a decent enough player but nothing has changed my mind that he seemed a bit of a pointless signing.
Maybes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 No doubting his quality in the air. He's been unlucky not to have scored a couple of headers at S****horpe and more recently Cardiff. Still there are questions about his goalscoring prowess, similarly with Steve Howard.
orangecity23 Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Interestingly, seems like Gallagher has cribbed Yann's Heading technique from him, the way he hangs well back from where the ball is headed before running and leaping. Thought Yann played well today, unfortunately when he got his only chance in the box, he had a heavy touch and it ran away from him. He was combative though, and if he gets in the box more often he'll soon get a goal. To be honest, he's had some good shots this season, that needed good saves to keep them out, he'll get one sooner or later.
Blue Foxes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Beat Rob Jones in the air on numerous occasions when he came on 6.7ft

The guy has been here 5 minutes ffs. Give him time to settle in, he has obviously impressed the staff with his ability and we have seen for himself how useful he can be in the air. Explain why he is a pointless signing on a free transfer when our other striker charged with winning aerial balls is evidently on a steep decline.
milan_foxes Posted 13 February 2010 Author Posted 13 February 2010 Quick question, how much did we buy Howard for?
ousefox Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 He has been great in the air every time i have seen him. Did well at getting back and making tackles today and i would like to seem get a goal to start him off and hopefully go on to get a decent amount this season.

Exactly, signed on a free, doubt hes on much and I would rarther see him playing then Howard,
Maybes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Quick question, how much did we buy Howard for? £1.5M wern't it?
Ozwin Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 He seems like a nice bloke too from what I've read, he knows he won't get into the team straight away and needs to work hard. He shows a lot of effort when he plays and I like that, I think he'll be a fan favourite in months to come because he looks to have a lot in his locker, just needs a bit of confidence and a run of games to get going.
milan_foxes Posted 13 February 2010 Author Posted 13 February 2010 £1.5M wern't it? Right, so we payed £1.5m to the sheep for Howard then we brought Kermo in on a free and he's performing better and is a better player, am I right?
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Right, so we payed £1.5m to the sheep for Howard then we brought Kermo in on a free and he's performing better and is a better player, am I right? Yeah. Basically Howard wasn't completely instrumental to our promotion season at all. It was basically just the sheer want to be able to sign such talents as Yann Kermogant that got the team to get us up from League One on the first attempt.
Maybes Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Right, so we payed £1.5m to the sheep for Howard then we brought Kermo in on a free and he's performing better and is a better player, am I right? Yeah. Question is . . .why have you got Howard as your avatar? EDIT: Not that I dont rate Howard. As finners says he was a key man in our promotion.
dogadug Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Won virtually every header against Jones, who was so much taller than him. Much better than Howard
milan_foxes Posted 13 February 2010 Author Posted 13 February 2010 Yeah. Question is . . .why have you got Howard as your avatar? EDIT: Not that I dont rate Howard. As finners says he was a key man in our promotion. Better? EDIT: ITS NOT CHANGED !
Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Right, so we payed £1.5m to the sheep for Howard then we brought Kermo in on a free and he's performing better and is a better player, am I right? That goal against Leeds last season was worth every penny.
Ozwin Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 His headers always end up at our players feet too. It's not like he's flicking it on aimlessly, he gets pure contact on them and directs them too.
martyn Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 This doesn't need to be turned into a Kermorgant v Howard bitchfest. Howard was great for us last year and made several vital contributions to our promotion. For me, Kermorgant looks to be the better option coming off the bench at this moment in time. Wins more headers, better link up play and more mobile. I think he looks a really interesting player.
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 For the record I do currently prefer Kermo to Howard currently. I'm very much on the fence when it comes to Howard, not his biggest fan and not one of his biggest bashers, he WAS instrumental last season. The games I've seen him play this year he's looked like he's struggling a bit more, personally.
CosbehFox Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Kermorgant looks a very good footballer and he possess a clever brain too. However, he has struggled with the pace of the English game. Today, he seemed to be a lot more hungry and was a lot more aware of the pace. Most foreigners take a year to settle in the country, he's still learning.
Fox You Forest Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 It's been obvious since Scunthorpe away he was the better option. The lad deserves a run up top instead of this advanced midfield position, not just yet though.
Billy_Velvetone Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 Big fan of Kermo. If you remember last season Berner was very much hit and miss and I think Kermo is this years Berner . For me I think Kermo has always been for next season, let him find his feet and next season watch him go. I thought he was excellent when he came on toady. Great in the air, a very clever footballer with a great touch. Mark my words, next season is the year of the kermit.
marbelladave Posted 13 February 2010 Posted 13 February 2010 I think Yanni has the makings of a very good player. Sure, he needs game time to adapt to Championship football and Like Gallagher, we need time to work out his best position. I would still like to see him given a go in the central striking role, but he would have to have pacy players to either side, Waghorn, N'Guessan and on today's performance Dyer, can all do that...
