Yann Kermorgant

Still don't see what this chap offers, I actually prefer Howard. (Never thought I'd say that!)

Really? Kermorgant wins a good percentage of headers, certainly more than Howard (I am a Howard fanboy).

Yanni has a reputation as a good finisher, so I would love to see him given time in the center of a front three, pushing well forward with Waghorn to the right and Dyer or N'Guessan on the left.

Me to Dave:_ A good finisher?????? Really, is he still warming up then? :whistle: Or is he going to start soon????? Honestly, do you make it all up? Yes I think you do! :giggle:

I clearly said "Yanni has a reputation as a good finisher,". Something I have heard on this forum or elsewhere! Try and keep up... :thumbup:

And yes, I do make it all up, my ideas, my opinions......OK!

I did catch a Yann shot in the warm up at Bristol City (one handed) and proceeded to take a throw in back. Nearly took the coach out, but sadly missed :(

He is at least on par with Howard in every department in my opinion.

Howard will go in the summer I reckon. His finishing ability is apparently very good. He's a replacement for Stevie

Whether Kergormant ever turns out to be a worthwhile striker is for the future but there's nothing in his record to suggest it.

Even this season there's no mention of Kergormant in the scoring lists whereas an ageing Howard has two.

If we're talking statistics, Howard has played 1,449 minutes of football this season, in a team he's accustomed to, compared with Kermorgant's 621.

2 Points;

Kermorgant could and should improve with more games at this level, Howard will not and is (arguably) in decline.

A striker does not have to be a regular goalscorer to be worth his place, if he is good at his job and the goals come, it does not matter (to me anyway) who scores them.

Pearson said it.

Howard's had a good career no doubt. In fact an excellent career where he's achieved a promotion at every level of English professional football. But as it currently stand and given the time Kermorgant had on the pitch and he's settling into a new pace of football? I don't think so.

If I was Howard, I'd make myself available for a decent League 1/2 in much the same way Jack Lester has. Prolong your career and go out with some success teaching young kids a lesson or two.

From OS

Leicester City striker Yann Kermorgant has told Foxes Player he has so much more to give, after impressing in the last two games since returning from injury.

The Frenchman was instrumental in setting up Lloyd Dyer's equaliser at Bristol City on Tuesday but has yet to find the net in sixteen appearances since signing from Stade de Reims.

But ahead of Saturday's trip to Plymouth, Kermorgant feels that his first Foxes goal is not far away.

"I hope I will score soon because I think my first goal will really start the season for me. But for me the most important thing is that the team wins."

The 28 year old forward says that although goals are the most important thing for a striker, he hopes that the City fans recognise his general contribution to the team.

"Sometimes people say 'he is not in the area', but often it is me who gets the flick ons and last time I did it for Lloyd. I just want to contribute to the team."

The importance of Kermorgant's contribution increased following the injury to Matty Fryatt against Doncaster, and the Frenchman says the team have adapted well in Fryatt's absence.

"We know we need to score more goals, and against S****horpe there was a good response. Now we need to win the game against Plymouth and score more goals."

You certainly won't find a Kergormant in the scoring list. :thumbup:

Well have to disagree there, I'm afraid. I wouldn't be happy to have any striker who couldn't guarantee me 18 goals a season minimum. Whatever else he did would be a bonus.

Of course it doesn't matter who scores goals but, other than expensive exceptions, outfield players aren't generally renowned for scoring at that sort of rate and, despite our position in the top six, it is quite clear that the management as well as some of our fans are concerned about our misfiring attackers.

Not that I'll be making a case for Howard. But nothing I've yet seen of Kermorgant suggests that he's the answer. We need strikers who constantly get themselves into the box for a start. People who have the pace, strength and elusiveness to evade markers when they get there.

Just seen this, so before I get off to bed;

At 18+ goals a season you set very high standards, but that is your choice. I have always been more of a believer in team play than individual performances so perhaps I look at things a little differently.

Today for example we were on top for most of the first half and the first 10 minutes or so of the second. We had lots of possession in attacking positions but made just one decent chance that fell to Dyer and a half chance to Waghorn..

Whilst I accept that without Fryatt we are short of predatory strikers, There are few strikers at any level who would have got on the score sheet today given what we created. My view remains that we are not creating enough decent chances and I put this down to a lack of creativity in central midfield, wide men that do not get forward enough and lack of ambition at set pieces.

Put these things right and I think we will get enough goals to get into the playoffs,

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's
