Guest Basildon Fox Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 SSN Reporting that they have been 'wound up' by order of the High Court. (No joke intended) A bit sad. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chester/8559704.stm From what I have read the fans themselves have wanted this so they can re-launch the club with a proper footing again. Apparently they have spoken to both AFC Wimbledon and Fans United FC on the best way to do this. I think there will be a tinge of sadness along with a new hope that the future of the pheonix club will be a lot brighter. It can happen as Aldershot fans will testify to. Hope they get the chance to start in a half decent League so they get the chance.

Guest Bilo Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 Sad times in a way but it does sound as though the club's owners were utterly clueless. If the club can start again at Unibond League level as has been suggested, there's no reason why they can't rise through the divisions in a similar way to the likes of Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon.
Stuliasz Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 Is there any money left in football or has it just completely self-imploded? There seems to be a new 'winding up order' story every day and even the supposedly rich clubs are massively in debt. There can't actually be many left who run at a profit with a bank balance above the red.

Wasn't really taking a whole lot of notice but was watching SSN and someone was at the high court reporting on Chester City, Cardiff City, Southend United, Portsmouth, and i'm sure he said something about more than 100 odd clubs (Non-league) were at the high court today facing winding-up orders, I doubt myself really, 100+? That's a hell of alot but could have sworn thats what I heard.
Daggers Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 As one club dies another is born - and this time in the hands of the fans. When this rolls out across all the divisions we'll have football nirvana. Fuck the money men.
The Doctor Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 As one club dies another is born - and this time in the hands of the fans. When this rolls out across all the divisions we'll have football nirvana. Fuck the money men. surely by the time every club has been re-born in the fans hands at least 1 will have been brought out by the money men? Money's too important in Football these days for all the clubs to end up in the fans hands, Like it or lump it, we're stuck with the billionaires buying clubs and (by the sounds of things), running them in to the ground.
purpleronnie Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 Hope it works out for them especially as that moron Vaughan criticized the chester fans for meeting in bingo halls and stated that the CFU had no credibility where In fact they have over 900 members more than double the number of fans still attending the Deva Stadium when matches are played. The guy sounds like a right willy puller already caused problems at barrow who eventaully went out of business too. http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=1383
Samilktray Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 They should just reform in another city, normally quite successful

Guest Bilo Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 Hinckley United reporting that Farsley Celtic have been disbanded by their administrator now. Football looks fucked and it appears that the smaller clubs are the ones copping the worst of the flack. Farsley disbanded
Guest DavidJCW Posted 11 March 2010 Posted 11 March 2010 Cardiff only have a few weeks left to settle their debt or they'll be wound up in the high court too... they've just said on SSN that the next time Cardiff are in there, had they not paid it up by then, they'll be going the same way as Chester! Hate to think that clubs in our league and higher are going under when we're still making a loss of £5-6 million a year and are only being propped up by Mandaric.
