Matt Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Is Bernie there? Theres and old bloke sitting front row in one of the corners in a black away City shirt. Don't think it is him - he'd have to be gagged or he'd be spouting his Yorkshire, Burnley, Emmerdale waffle for a start but he could be mistaked for Bernie
dogadug Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Great win for Selby against Hendry, winning 13-5. Thats about the best i've seen Selby play. Hopefully he can put in a performance like that in the next round, he might need to because he's against O'Sullivan.
Matt Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Selby beats Ronnie O'Sullivan 13 frames to 11. He came back from 10 - 8 down I think. Well Done Mark, really hope he can go all the way now!
Bert Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Top stuff from Selby. Had by far the hardest route to the semi's!
Lillehamring Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 selby was 8-5 and 9-7 down, and only had himself to blame for it going to the final frame, but played some lovely long pots - and you could tell how much it meant to him. psychologically, he won't have a tougher game than that. brilliant result as for o'sullivan, he used to be one of my favourite players, now i think he should just retire, he clearly doesn't enjoy playing anymore, and he just looks miserable - when he was arguing over the touching ball, i thought he was gonna start crying.
surrifox Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 How typical of O'Sullivan to turn another professional's triumph into a showcase of how he has fallen out of love with game , hasn't played well for 20 years blah blah as if that was the only way Selby could possibly have beaten him. We've heard it all before He may be the most gifted player in the history of the game but has no class and should shut the f*** up. Well done to Mark Selby - now go and win the thing

Well done to Mark Selby - now go and win the thing Agreed, the guy has been a bit arsey all week never mind in the wake of this defeat. I personally don't think snooker would lose out much if he retired. He just can't handle the fact that Selby is beginning to clearly get the upper hand on him; Welsh Open, Masters, World Championship. Selby is now consistently beating the guy on the big stage. C'mon Mark!
Corky Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Selby looks as though he could be a dominant figure in snooker for a few years, well done to him. Did anyone see the MC introduce Steve Davis as Dennis Taylor?
dandannieldanok Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Did anyone see the MC introduce Steve Davis as Dennis Taylor? Yea that was funny, especially as it was completely unintentional. Incidentally, Davis and Taylor are playing a frame today at 12.00, it's definitely on the bbc website but not sure it it's going to be on the red button or anything.

Well done to Mark Selby - now go and win the thing was that in a post match interview? i have to watch on eurosport, with norwegian commentary, so i didn't catch that... i wouldn't even say he was the most gifted player, perhaps the most gifted potter - but i think his safety play is a bit limited, and he as for trying to go for snookers to steal back frames, he didn't even try.
Wilkesy Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Robertson has cruised into a 5-0 lead over Carter. Still early in the match, but looking like Robertson is the more likely finalist so far. Hoping that Selby can get a good lead over Dott in tonights session. Come on Mark!
dandannieldanok Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Robertson is the most fluent player in the balls, even more so than Selby in my opinion. Hopefully Mark can get off to a decent start tonight and set up a final against Robertson, would be a cracker for sure.
dandannieldanok Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Selby really struggling, just about hanging on to Dott's coattail but needs some inspiration.
Lillehamring Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Selby really struggling, just about hanging on to Dott's coattail but needs some inspiration. selby is frustrating the hell out of me - he's playing some great safety stuff and making some breathtaking long pots, but it seems like every time he gets a bit of a lead he fluffs a relatively easy shot to leave things wide open for dott, who is just lapping it up... grrrr.
Matt Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Selby got it back to 10-11 but Dott won the last frame to make it 10-12 and it looks like it might be 10-13 to Dott in a minute.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 14-10 Dott. I fear that could be the end of Selby. Yes he is the king of comebacks but he's simply not playing well enough to bridge that kind of gap, and Dott is also playing very efficiently too. I hope Mark proves me wrong , but it looks very very bleak.

I agree with you but so many times in my head i've wrote Selby off and couldn't see a way back for him but he's proved me wrong alot of the time, C'mon Mark
Matt Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Thought Selby had got back into it after bringing it back to a 1 frame deficit but he failed to push on and draw level and Dott 1 frame away from a place in the final has come out very confident.
Matt Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Unlucky Mark, Played great the majority of the time with the odd mistake - which lets be fair were the 'easier' chances and that was what let you down ever so slightly. Congratulations Graeme Dott. Not sure who I want to win Robertson or Dott.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 The last part of that frame summed it up, quality courageous shot on the red, 2 shots later he misses a sitter black. Selby just couldn't get it going, Dott deserved the win. Hope it's a close final.

Congratulations Graeme Dott. Not sure who I want to win Robertson or Dott. very frustrating, i would say it was a bit morte than the 'odd' mistake, but yes that was the story of the match for mark - some sublime shots and amazing vision, but just lacking the consistency of a hendry or higgins, just hope he can get this controlled next year. as for the final, i like dott, he's an honest player and seems to be a good sport, but i really like the idea of someone non-british winning it, just to give the tournament a bit of credibility, rather than being our 'world series', so i'll plump for robertson, that said i'll probably not watch much or any of it...
AmericanScott Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 I watched this down my boozer which is Mark's local. Everyone was cheering him on and there was a great atmosphere. It was very heartbreaking but he had a fantastic tournament. It just shows he's quickly becoming one of the most dangerous players. Fair play to Dott though, he played great.
