Matt Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Ok, my iPod is working but saying it needs to be connected to iTunes and be restored, presumably this would wipe all music off my iPod? I have a new laptop which means the music I have on my iPod is not on the new laptop, so I used a program which took me from about 7pm till 2am a few weeks ago to get all my music off my iPod, now when putting all my music to iTunes it appears the tracks are not full tracks, some last a second, some last 1 minutes, some last the full track. Luckily I still havn't restored my iPod yet, so I still have the all songs on my iPod which appear to be playing full tracks so all is not lost, just frustrating about how much work and time I spent for what seems fuck all. So can anyone recommend a free program that takes your tracks off the iPod and put them onto your laptop/PC or recommend a way of doing this? Bloody iPod's, Easy enough to put music on, Can't take it off though!
Ozwin Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Floola takes songs off your iPod and puts them on your PC. Pretty easy to do. I had the same problem after my iPod deleted everything on my iPod for no reason.
Matt Posted 15 March 2010 Author Posted 15 March 2010 Floola takes songs off your iPod and puts them on your PC. Pretty easy to do. I had the same problem after my iPod deleted everything on my iPod for no reason. Cheers, I didn't get it from that website but after downloading that program it looks very similar to the program I used. I'm not sure if anyone has come across this problem before and can tell me what the problem is or how to solve it, I don't know, I hope so though, I have just played a song - Live Forever - Oasis, When I play the song from the start it cuts out on the minute mark but if I click the time bar at the top of the screen to say 2 minutes 50 seconds for example it plays so its not as if the file has corrupted or only got the song up to the minute mark, it does this to other tracks that are cutting out - If I 'fast forward' to a part of the song after it cuts out on it's own it plays.
DB11 Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 To stop it deleting, you want to stop iTunes from auto-syncing. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto sync’ing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can right click on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlistsâ€. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod. Then to "rip" music from the iPod follow one of the tutorials on the net. http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/copyoff/index.shtml

Ozwin Posted 16 March 2010 Posted 16 March 2010 Yeah definately untick automatically sync iPod. That gives you so many headaches. Best to do it all maually and so safely remove it at all times.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 March 2010 Posted 17 March 2010 The answer's simple. Don't have an iPod and then you won't be a slave to Apple. Simple. *iPod hating rant over*
Matt Posted 17 March 2010 Author Posted 17 March 2010 Cheers for the advice people, not having too much knowledge about computers and fixing things on them i've not had the guts to do anything yet, but will be. The answer's simple. Don't have an iPod and then you won't be a slave to Apple. Simple. *iPod hating rant over* Well when my iPod does stop working think i'll be looking at other options, this is my 2nd iPod, the 1st one didn't last too long, I may end up getting another iPod (or iTouch) but will certainly be looking at other options.
