Guest Mee-9 Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 If it gets the club an anthem like Forest (Mull of Kintyre/You've lost that loving feeling) I'm well for it.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Yes perhaps this could catch on. Always had Gally down as a popstar
davieG Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 I'm probably being stupid but what's the 'hands bit' When you get to the last 'the whole world smiles with you' it's usually accompanied by a display of arms in the air for every word that's sung, surely you've noticed it, joined in if you've sung it.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 When you get to the last 'the whole world smiles with you' it's usually accompanied by a display of arms in the air for every word that's sung, surely you've noticed it, joined in if you've sung it. This illustrates it pretty well, even if not everyone is sure what they're meant to be doing. The "proper" way to do WYS is to hold your hands up after each line as follows: The whole world smiles with you The whole world smiles with you THE WHOLE WORLD SMILES WIIIIIITH YOOOOOOOOU

Let's hope the recording is at the right speed.
Ozwin Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 To be honest I think I've heard it like once ever in the kop where I sit. I'm not entirely sure how it even goes.
lavrentis Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 To be honest I think I've heard it like once ever in the kop where I sit. I'm not entirely sure how it even goes. It gets more hearing at away games
Shrenchel Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 However shit their version is, can only be a good thing if it gets more people involved in singing it. A lot of people that generally join in with chants look at you like you're reciting passages from mein kampf when WYS is half-heartedly bashed out again. Think it shows how much of 'club anthem' it geniunely is by the fact all players, including some who have been here for 3 seasons, were struggling desperately to learn how it goes off a bit of paper.
Jordan Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 I wonder if this track is going to leak to all the cool kid music blogs before it's released
Daggers Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 The "proper" way to do WYS is... I must have missed that memo
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 I must have missed that memo Hence proper in quotes, I'm not going to dictate how people do a football chant, but this is the way people seem to do it, I learned it from them when people decided New Filbo should have some noise in it again circa "Smashing bunch o' lads" era, and who am I to argue?
josh_baskin Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Seriously im not knocking the guys devotion as a supporter but am I the only city fan thats feels that jobber is an attention seeker and his whole association with the club in the media is embarrassing?
ArnarGunnlaugsson Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Seriously im not knocking the guys devotion as a supporter but am I the only city fan thats feels that jobber is an attention seeker and his whole association with the club in the media is embarrassing? Do you think Jobber just turned up then to grab the limelight? Do you not think he was invited along by the band to try and give more of a connection to the recording and the fans? They can't exactly invited the whole of SK1 to the recording studio can they?
Bluefoxtim Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Seriously im not knocking the guys devotion as a supporter but am I the only city fan thats feels that jobber is an attention seeker and his whole association with the club in the media is embarrassing? Whenever I've seen him give interviews he appears to be anything but how you just described him.
Fosse Boy Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 It will be if people interpret it as an expression of jubilation at having simply qualified for the play-offs. Which most will... I'm not averse to the idea of a recording of WYS though. I get the impression that most fans don't know the words or don't even know it's the unofficial club anthem. Granted it sounds shit when we sing it, but I still think it's a good anthem because it came exclusively from the fans adopting it, not the club or some pop group creating a song intended to be adopted. Sums it up nicely. However shit their version is, can only be a good thing if it gets more people involved in singing it. A lot of people that generally join in with chants look at you like you're reciting passages from mein kampf when WYS is half-heartedly bashed out again. Valid. I was struggling to get "When you're tired and you're weary" going in L1 the other week. My theory is people just can't be arsed with anything containing more than five words.
