Bettsj2 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 You have no idea do you? Why don't you look at teams like Pompey, thought they had money to piss about with and look where they are. Even Villa, allowed O'Neil to offer daft wages to players like Luke Young, Steve Sidwell and Nigel Reo-Coker and obviously it is unsustainable for Lerner which is why O'Neil has left. So what if we now have new investment, we can't just blow daft money on any player we like, we're not Manchester City, whether we have money or not, our wage bill has to be sustainable and we have to be careful should the new investors all of a sudden pull out. We are already in shit loads of debt and working at a loss, I'd rather see a couple of players come in and improve the squad than give Koren a million pound a year. I think you're missing the point. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Pay dollar, get promoted. Kapische?
Tilley Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I think you're missing the point. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Pay dollar, get promoted. Kapische? Like QPR? Like Forest? Even Cardiff.... Yeah, they've come close but they still haven't got there. Some fans are going to expect superstar signings and overnight success, bunch of tits.
davieG Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I think you're missing the point. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Pay dollar, get promoted. Kapische? Pay dollar, don't get promoted, investors get bored, stop investing, go bust.
s11nny Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 although Koren would be great, there are lots of other effective alternatives. One of the main things I criticise PS for when considering his movements in the transfer market is that he has not made use of any loan signings to any real effect. there is some great youngsters at premiership clubs that we could use on loan. this is where we miss NP. for example NP brought in Bostock for Hull, probably one of the best loan signings any championship team could of made.
davieG Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 But if he can buy players that have the potential to play in the Premier League if we get promoted it would means less changes, better team spirit and good use of investment monies.

Bostock is gash. From now on, if they dont cost a minimum of £3m, not worth looking at. BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
artursteppe Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Reality check. We will not be spending multi millions on players. We will go with Paulo's advice and use reasonable investment money to give us promotion in line with Paulo's 'guarentee' - two years max. Milan will also want to bring in one or two 'name' players who can help achieve the ambitions set. ( He went for Edgar Davids last year ). Expect someone like Robert Pires ( free agent ), who for the objective of getting promoted ( cos that is what it is all about !) would still be better than Koren. Milan still hasn't made his mark yet, he wants to be seen to have procured a couple of 'star' players, yes, probably in their thirties, but who Paulo believes can do the business for us in the short term. Long term is another matter, they will be mindful of making sure we have the right players at the right age once we have secured promotion. That is on-going and will continue. ( we have a good academy set up and we will continue to find quality younger players with a future ). However it is separate to the job of gaining promotion. First things first!

I'm not suggesting we throw money around, he's on a free. I don't expect overnight success, if you read my post in the 'it's official' thread I stated I hope that we don't go throwing money around. We could go and buy a decent player for 1 mil tomorrow, who is on £6,000 a week say, but if we did sign Koren (I know the chances are now slim) then he'd of had to of been with us for more than a year for us to have spent 1 mil on him, not counting the £6,000 a week wages. If he wasn't unattached then you would say his price would be around 2 mil, he'd of have to been with us for more than 2 years for us to have spent that amount. I don't want us to go crazy with the money, but I want see some ambition. I can see your point and how my post come across, and if we were paying a few million for someone on £20,000 a week then I'd be concerned, but seeing as he's on a free it's not as bad.

dandannieldanok Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Bostock is gash. From now on, if they dont cost a minimum of £3m, not worth looking at. Hell yes. BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't quite make out whether you're being sarcastic or you genuinely have gone totally hyper and irrational with this takeover news. Either way, the use of emoticons would be helpful.

Bettsj2 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Perhaps he didn't use them because we haven't got one that means 'I talk bollocks' Stop being so grumpy. I'm genuinly excited about this takeover and cant quite understand why so many are so dour. We're already in a great position with a great academy, stadium, team and manager. Now we have finance to back it up. This season is going to be fantastic and I for one cannot wait for the signings to start rolling through the door. COME ON LEICESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Petchy Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I'd like us to stop operating like paupers and start spending like KINGS!!!!!!!! Reality check - we aren't mega rich from this investment. I've heard figures of £60 million etc being invested. In todays football world, that isn't really a great amount of money to be spending willy nilly!!!!

Not grumpy just realistic, so many clubs just piss their investments up the wall trying to gain instant success and more often than not it fails because of impatient fans and owners. We also have an inexperienced manager and a Chairman who's renowned for wasting money on big name has-beens, we've seen enough of those in the darkest hours of our history I for one don't want to see a repeat especially one costing 10 times more than the last lot. Spending loads doesn't guarantee anything spending wisely will improve our chances significantly. I know which I prefer. As for boring you're the one who keeps repeating the spend, spend, spend mantra.
The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 If you can't p1ss some money up the wall after a foreign takeover, you're doing something wrong. I want at least six foreigners we've never heard of who turn out to be rubbish (with one of them embarrassingly turning out not to exist at all and a further one turning out not to be Messi's brother - well, not THAT Messi, anyway) in by Saturday at 3pm. N'diaye and Whittingham? Really?

The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Your a d*ck. Plain and simple. To be fair to him, he must be a pretty talented one to be able to type then. I'd have thought it would be difficult to type with either feathers or a bill. Wonder if he ever gets fed up of eating stale bread?
Bettsj2 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Yeah, must be one massively talented dUck. I love the abuse that gets handed out on here. You're absolutely gauranteed to wind someone up no matter what you put. I am tw*t. I've got no qualms about that. But what I dont do is make dumb **** comments like, 'I heard the figure of £60m' and try and pass it off as some kind of fact. So carry on posting your negative comments, i'll stay positive and at the match on Saturday, you can sit there and find something to moan about and i'll sing my idiot head off and have a good time. MMMMMMMUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (whilst typing that I had my tongue shoved behind my bottom lip just in case you cant work out what i'm saying here)
The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I've heard we're signing the entire Aston Villa squad from the early 90s!!!!!
Petchy Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 At what point did I pass it off as a fact?! I'm stating that we're not going to me 'ZOMG! MEGA RICH!' as you've been posting, but we're going to be healthy to make some investments and build towards the future! Not sure how me stating that its a good investment but denying that we can't go and buying highly valued players Chelsea etc are chasing is being 'negative' but whatever.<_<
Salieri Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I've heard we're signing the entire Aston Villa squad from the early 90s!!!!! Defence leaking goals? Step forward Mr Paul McGrath.
