OutFoxing-Cov-Since1884 Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Actually it did, and then they were one of the 'Famous 13' of La Manga... Steffan Freud
Bryn Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Not worth the wages. I reckon we have some tidy midfielders anyway.
akwahoo Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Not worth the wages. I reckon we have some tidy midfielders anyway. Not worth the wages but I'm sure we'd like his talents at the club. Oh well, I fancy him going to Celtic as well.
Cat Burger Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Shame, looks like Sousa left it too late Some funny comments on this thread. I will admit I was a blobbing a bit yesterday, I'm just glad my dad liamherbertlcfc told me off when he did. Bert, Singh, Tommeh don't fight over me
dandannieldanok Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 i can't believe so many people actually thought this would happen... Why, what was so infeasible about it? I'm sure if Sousa was absolutely desperate for Koren, we'd have stumped up the wages.
MikeyT Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Why, what was so infeasible about it? I'm sure if Sousa was absolutely desperate for Koren, we'd have stumped up the wages. Totally agree.
hackneyfox Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Could have been good but 20k for a 28 year old? As Sousa has said he has other targets, hopefully better, younger and cheaper.

J.Lisemore Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Why, what was so infeasible about it? I'm sure if Sousa was absolutely desperate for Koren, we'd have stumped up the wages. Because IMO it was too good to be true. Koren is a class above any midfielder we have and as has been shown, we couldn't afford him. If your not desperate for a player like him in this division, then your mad.
Mort Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Class at this level, but £20K just isn't realistic - if Hull want to pay silly money that's up to them.
crazylegs1984 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Now we might have silly money to play with who knows
Bettsj2 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Now we might have silly money to play with who knows We can afford better now (if he does sign though he's well good).
Tilley Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Koren is class, no one can deny that but I'd rather we went without players like Koren and had a sustainable wage budget.
Bettsj2 Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Koren is class, no one can deny that but I'd rather we went without players like Koren and had a sustainable wage budget. Balls. Aint you heard?? We're fooking loaded!! We need to start throwing money around quick, make people fear us, get promoted and get fooking partying!!!!!!!!
Petchy Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 I echo Tilley's thoughts. I would like the club to bring more quality in, but not go silly with the money! To be previously linked with Koren, and even Edgar Davids at 20+ grand wages was ridiculous. I'd like to see players who can do a good job but without sacrificing a huge part of our wage budget.

The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 What about that Laczko Zsolt who came on for Hungary last night? Looked tidy,...
s11nny Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 regardless it being 'silly' money or not, a player of that standard could make all the difference in the promotion push. I think Hull see that, and are willing to take a risk with the wages in order to get back in the top flight. In all cases, a successful business involves the ability to take risks.

It's not really much of a risk either now we have investment, don't see what everyones problem is.
Tilley Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 This. It's not really much of a risk either now we have investment, don't see what everyones problem is. You have no idea do you? Why don't you look at teams like Pompey, thought they had money to piss about with and look where they are. Even Villa, allowed O'Neil to offer daft wages to players like Luke Young, Steve Sidwell and Nigel Reo-Coker and obviously it is unsustainable for Lerner which is why O'Neil has left. So what if we now have new investment, we can't just blow daft money on any player we like, we're not Manchester City, whether we have money or not, our wage bill has to be sustainable and we have to be careful should the new investors all of a sudden pull out. We are already in shit loads of debt and working at a loss, I'd rather see a couple of players come in and improve the squad than give Koren a million pound a year.
The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Offer Sir Alex £3million for Cleverley.
