bigneville Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 When signing a player, he has to improve on the current options. Does Lloyd Sam do that? It's certainly questionable. He's slightly un-proven at Championship level, but has clearly got something to offer. Sam seem's to have a bit more of a brain and trickery than our current wingers, but this is based on seeing him only 4-5 times this season. I would see no harm in picking him up on a free-transfer if he is out of conrtact, to add some more pace and variety out wide. As Dyer has gone missing at times in games, and N'Guessan is still young, so is some-what hit and miss. Would add more depth and quality to the squad, so would be a decent signing.

The out-of-contract player is available on a free transfer but could yet stay at The Valley if the League One club make him a good enough offer. "If Charlton offer him a contract he will certainly consider it, but he hasn't heard anything yet," Sam's agent, Eric Walters, told the South London Press. "There's been plenty of interest in Lloyd. There are a few teams in the Championship who have looked at him. Palace, Leeds, Leicester and Coventry have all said they might be keen on him and we're in talks with all four of them." Elsewhere, Deon Burton is also considering his options after receiving an offer from an overseas club and his agent, Darryl Powell, added: "Deon's had a firm offer from a club in Europe and we've had interest from elsewhere. "The offer from abroad is a decent one and it's probably more than anyone could pay in this country, but it might not be enough for him to say 'yes'. We haven't spoken yet with Charlton about terms but I know Deon would like to have had something sorted by this stage."
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 In talks then apparantly. Wonder who is doing the talks?
Narborough_fox Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 In talks then apparantly. Wonder who is doing the talks? Milan. Lee Hoos?
Matt Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Milan. Lee Hoos? Milan's on 'holiday'. Not only who's doing the talks, who actually wants him? Milan? Sticking his nose in, again, another Milan signing He loves it, Dunno what he doesn't just declare himself manager, mind you he wouldn't be able to sack anyone then, waste any money, and have no-one to blame, e.t.c.
Guest Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Takes him about 20mins to cross So long as they're decent we don't mind waiting
Lamby Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 So long as they're decent we don't mind waiting He stands there for like 5mins doing shit tricks, then either runs it out of play or overshoots the cross
Alexikokopops Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Nope, he's position is left midfield, obviously he has more of a right foot than Dyer but then that isn't hard He's right footed, and can play on the left or the right.
Yojoe36 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Lloyd who? WE NEED A GOD DAMN CENTRE MID! Wellens fails
lynchy lcfc 4 life Posted 5 July 2010 Posted 5 July 2010 I'd quite like us to look at players in the mould of 'Dyer but can control a ball' or 'Gallagher but with pace'. Be expensive and not too many around at this level but would be very worthwhile. Especially as Pearson will probably be looking at players who can slot into both 4-4-2 and 4-3-3, so can play as a winger and a forward. If you're going to be a winger who can also play up front you'd be less inclined to buy the classic Winger-Who-Has-One-Thing-They're-Absolutely-Terrible-At. If we were to have an improvement on 'Gallagher' why not 'Darren Ambrose' He's at Palace so he'd snap our hands off for a chance to play for us, hes fast, good goal scoring record, top quality at free kicks and has the ability to do something magic at times, he won't be millions and has experience at the top flight?
foxoffderby Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 Whites boss snaps up winger Sam Friday 9th July 2010 11:48 .Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has completed the free transfer signing of former Charlton Athletic winger Lloyd Sam. The 25-year-old, whose Addicks contract expired at the end of last season, has penned a two-year deal at Elland Road. Crystal Palace, Coventry City and Leicester City had also been linked with the player. Grayson said: "Lloyd is another good addition to our squad. He has plenty of experience, he has played at Championship level and is hungry and keen to do well. "We're delighted to get things finalised and welcome him aboard before we go out to Slovakia." Sam, who made 134 appearances for Charlton after working his way through the ranks at The Valley, is Leeds' sixth summer signing. The Whites have a further 12-month option on the player, who was born in Leeds where his father went to university before moving to London.
