Matt Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 Newsbeat's found out that some of the country's biggest music stars have been approached to play Live Aid 2. The massive open air gig, set for London's Hyde Park on July 2nd would be 20 years after the original which was watched by a billion worldwide. The first Live Aid had Madonna, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Queen heading up the bill. It was broadcast from Wembley and Philadelphia, and raised millions and millions of pounds for charity. This time around Newsbeat has been told U2 will be involved again, but they have a gig in Vienna on the same night, and equally big bands have a similar problem - they've already committed themselves elsewhere. There is a lot going on behind the scenes. It's possible Live Aid 2 could be free to the public with up to 150,000 tickets being made available by lottery. We know several big acts have been approached and someone has told even told us that the branding has been designed. This time round the event will be closely tied to the campaign to Make Poverty History. In fact there's every chance it will be called Live 8 to draw attention to the G8 world leaders conference taking place in Britain around the same time, where issues like global debt relief will be discussed. The earliest we can expect to hear anything official could be the end of next week.
Matt Posted 13 June 2005 Author Posted 13 June 2005 Anyone entered for tickets then? I have, lines have closed now. Ticket winners will be annouced on or before 15/06/05 P.S - After a certain amount of time can you not edit posts? Because its not desperate I was just gonna change the title of this thread to Live 8 but the edit button has gone, its happen on other thread/posts i've tried to go backa few days/weeks later and edit too, as I said it's not desperate just curious!
Shum Posted 13 June 2005 Posted 13 June 2005 I have entered! Tickets are going on Ebay for £920 already
Matt Posted 13 June 2005 Author Posted 13 June 2005 I have entered!Tickets are going on Ebay for £920 already 123098 The reason for the event is for a good cause yet people are thinking about making money out of the good cause!
Phil Posted 13 June 2005 Posted 13 June 2005 I got a pair of tickets, no ammount of money would prize them away from my hands this is a once in a lifetime oppotunaty If I did sell them I'd always regret it.
C-man Posted 14 June 2005 Posted 14 June 2005 I have entered!Tickets are going on Ebay for £920 already 123098 Its a disgrace that some people are selling them on eBay Like Phil said, no amount of money would take tickets from me, because i would want to go for the good cause, not to make money out of it.

Guest Posted 14 June 2005 Posted 14 June 2005 if people are willing to pay............ 123226 Too true. If there's a market, then people will take advantage. Anyone who pays a third party stupid money just to be there is as bad as the person making money out of it, in my honest opinion.
Phil Posted 14 June 2005 Posted 14 June 2005 I'm hoping that because I had to give my name and address over the internet to claim my tickets they'll have them printed on and people will be made so show I.D as they enter the concert. like they do for glastomberry.
Matt Posted 14 June 2005 Author Posted 14 June 2005 But the people who are paying over £400 let alone £900+ are the losers because apparently Live 8 organisers are planning to sell so many tickets for around a £400 mark and it will include, front row/backstage passes, and 2 nights in a hotel, so the people that are paying £400+ are really wasting there money when they could have spent £400 on the offer the Live 8 organisers are planning!
Guest Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 Ebay are getting rid of all auctions involving the selling of Live 8 tickets. Why they had to wait until the media got involved, I can't think.

Deathside Posted 19 June 2005 Posted 19 June 2005 It was quite interesting to see the documentary thing tonight about the original Live Aid It's strange to me that so many people have such fond memories of it - On the day of Live Aid I was at a festival in France to see The Clash & The Ramones (Sadly The Ramones didn't play ) - But I was well glad to be away from all the hype in the UK I realise that a large proportion of people on Foxestalk were not born in '85
