lcfc84 Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6244902,00.html Paulo Sousa is reported to have left Swansea City, amid speculation he is to take charge of Championship rivals Leicester. The Portuguese legend took charge at The Liberty Stadium last summer, succeeding Roberto Martinez - who joined Premier League Wigan. Sousa had already experienced life in England during a five-month stint with QPR, but he showed a real liking for life in South Wales as he guided them to the play-offs in his first-year in charge. But now according to Welsh and Portuguese sources, Sousa has left Swansea and accepted an offer to take charge of Leicester, who lost manager Nigel Pearson to Hull City earlier in the week. Reports suggest that Sousa failed to agree terms over a new deal with Swansea and is now set to pen a three-year deal at The Walkers Stadium.
Bert Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Big surprise. Get down Belvoir drive tomorrow and I'm sure you'll see him there.

Hope Manderic gets 50 years in the slammer for the way he has treated Nigel Pearson he has decided to bring this Sousa in before last season even ended and he can just get the hell out of LCFC now. Good luck to Pearson at Hull hope he does well.
caz05 Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Big surprise. Get down Belvoir drive tomorrow and I'm sure you'll see him there. Has anyone just seen SSN,on there about thai investors in talks with MM,but he still wants a role in the club

Good luck to Pearson at Hull hope he does well. I understand your frustration about Nige leaving but we support Leicester. I don't care who our manager is*, I'll support my club through thick and thin. It's time for people to move on and give Sousa (or who ever it may be) a chance. Nige was hardly going to be here forever. *Does not include Dowie
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Has anyone just seen SSN,on there about thai investors in talks with MM,but he still wants a role in the club Not exactly new news really. Some people seem to have taken sudden dislike for Mandaric, I've always quite liked him myself. He has lost millions in LCFC so not surprising he wants financial help.
FoxyPV Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Hopefully this will be announced tomorrow and we get back to footballing matters. Get a good preseason on the go and then be raring to go for the start of the season!! :scarf:
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Does this mean we don't have to pay compo? I doubt it. Usually clubs still have to pay compensation, though I obviously hope we dont! Pretty sure we did to Plymouth after Holloway resigned there.

Dan Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 but he showed a real liking for life in South Wales as he guided them to the play-offs in his first-year in charge. Fuck me. Very interesting stuff this btw.

Cheese Me Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Good! Decent appointment as far as I can see and glad it's been resolved quickly, gives plenty of time to get a full pre season under everyone's belts. Think all this hope for takeovers / investment is nothing more than wishful thinking unless and until we see something more concrete, we have to assume we'll continue as we have been without a great deal to spend so getting a solid appointment in with time to organise everything was essential. Not sure I understand (or I guess more accurately) agree with the Mandaric bashing, I honestly do believe he's a football man who wants the club to be as successful as we can and I know you can never be 100% sure but I honestly think we'd be in a much worse place without him. Looking forward to the new season now!
Guest NGoloMode Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 If we are going to make him our manager I really want to get it done as soon as possible.
Sparky Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Delighted with the appointment, far more appealing than the rest that were linked.
Koke Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 The alternatives were so painfully dire, so I'm happy with Sousa. It was either Sousa or Dowie/Hart/Coleman/Ince/Southgate etc. and Sousa is better than them all by a mile.

sw_fox Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Delighted with the appointment, far more appealing than the rest that were linked. Hes only left Swansea, he hasnt signed for us yet (although it does look like its almost done). It aint over til the fat lady sings and all that....You never know Liverpool could nab him (but very unlikely)
samjohnson Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Ive never really looked at him... I'll only start praising the ground he walks on when he does something decent here...
Prospero Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Radio 5 Live has just said that they understand he has left to take over at leicester! Must be true.
Craig Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Hes only left Swansea, he hasnt signed for us yet (although it does look like its almost done). It aint over til the fat lady sings and all that....You never know Liverpool could nab him (but very unlikely) And sack Hodgson without playing a game?

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 BBCare last to break the news as usual.... Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa has left his position by mutual consent and is set to take up the vacant post at Leicester City, BBC Wales understands. The club are due to make at statement at 0930 BST on Monday. It is understood compensation has been agreed with Leicester for Sousa who was granted permission to speak to the Foxes. Sousa took Swansea to the brink of the Championship play-offs in his first season in charge. More to follow.
DanTheFox07 Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Seem`s like Mandaric had this planned all Along, Pearson also admitting to problem`s behind the scene`s! that said I will get behing Sousa and the boys, investment is defo needed as we are still short in the squad, we need a rightback as I don`t think solano has the leg`s and morrison is better at centreback! hopefully Sousa might try and take a couple of players from swansea, pratley and Rangel would be nice but I doubt anything will happen but well see in the coming week.
