hairy Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 It has to be a commercial decision the club takes. To get rid of someone who has worked for the club for so long and the age he is would cost a fortune to get rid of via redundancy or payoff. The current 65 option is the only way for a company to reduce its risks. Easy as that. Dont get me wrong we used to be very good friends with my family and does a lot more for the club than half time talks and the moan-in. Its sad to see him go but a financial risk is a risk worth removing.
MattyFromLE Posted 7 August 2010 Posted 7 August 2010 For the sake of what he earns, compared to the likes of neilsen and other such time wasters and potential bench warmers; I think Birchs place should be something we should keep. After all; Leicester is a family club, a community held together by people like Alan birchenall - if he goes; however much of a waste of space people think he is; I think a lot of the sentiment of having someone who loves the club 100% should be something the board recognise and just this once; let common sense and justification prevail. That's my opinion
Wymsey Posted 7 August 2010 Posted 7 August 2010 Are there any save the Birch banners out yet at Palace?

Little Nicky Posted 7 August 2010 Posted 7 August 2010 How many different groups do we need? I'm all for supporting the guy, but if it's going to happen, it's going to happen!
wurmer Posted 7 August 2010 Posted 7 August 2010 For the sake of what he earns, compared to the likes of neilsen and other such time wasters and potential bench warmers; I think Birchs place should be something we ...... Neilsen had a good game today, and this is going to happen no matter whatever anyone does. We've got bigger things to be thinking about - like getting the players to actually turn up for the first half.
milan_foxes Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Didn't see any of the banners... it's the only reason I went!
1964FOX Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 I've read on here somewhere that there will be a protest at one of the home games, does anyone know what is being done?
Karljohn Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Heard there was supposed to be something happening against Macclesfield on Tuesday but surely better to do something against Boro, more support and nearer the date of departure.
Guest Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Crap player for us - never known anyone to blast so many over the bar from in front of the goal. made a lot of money and had an easy life from the City don't give a stuff.
Living Legend Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Alan also received his meals and training facilities free . He did very little for his £30,000 plus salary. In addition he has been on an ego trip for years . Can we now have some of the photographs of him taken down . He is not Leicester through and through . He is a Londoner and although likeable we can all do without him .
h1210 Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Has he even asked to be saved? I'm sure he'll get a big enough payoff to soften the blow
Tilley Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Some people are too sentimental, he is 65, annoying and a unnecessary waste of 30 grand.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Has he even asked to be saved? I'm sure he'll get a big enough payoff to soften the blow Why would he? He is being retired not made redundant.
h1210 Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Why would he? He is being retired not made redundant. Just seems to be very quiet, I haven't heard a quote directly from him regarding his retirement yet.
m00nie Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 Why would he? He is being retired not made redundant. i imagine he would have a decent pension in place..
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 i imagine he would have a decent pension in place.. But that is completely different from getting a pay off from the club.
Arkie Bennett Posted 8 August 2010 Posted 8 August 2010 i imagine he would have a decent pension in place.. On £30K, it appears he's been on a decent pension for years. The Birch is obviously a nice chap and he has done a lot for charidee, but as far as LCFC is concerned he is now an anachronism. He played in an era that a large proportion of the fan base did not experience. There had to come a day when he switched off his microphone for the last time.
