Edmund Posted 27 October 2010 Author Posted 27 October 2010 This made me http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6469331,00.html James - I was drunk Goalkeeper explains Bristol City move David James has revealed that he was drunk when he was first contacted by Bristol City over the summer. The goalkeeper secured a move to Ashton Gate in July after deciding to leave Portsmouthfollowing their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season. His decision to join another Championship outfit therefore raised a few eyebrows, especially after being heavily linked with a switch to Celtic. As an international footballer with vast experience who had just become a free agent, a number of top-flight clubs in England were also reportedly interested. James later explained that he had not wanted to uproot his family and was excited about the opportunity to challenge for promotion with Bristol City. But he has now also admitted that when he was first sounded out by then Robins manager Steve Coppell he was still feeling the effects of a night out. The 40-year-old then started to mull over his latest option and eventually completed the transfer, but he concedes that it was a surprising move. "I thought I would either stay with Portsmouth, move to a Premier League club or go to Scotland," he said in The Observer. "In between thinking about all that, there was my wedding to Amanda to organise. "Somehow it all converged at a single point, the morning after my stag do. "I received a phone call from an unknown number. I don't usually answer those, but I was still drunk and so I picked it up. "Much to my astonishment the man on the other end was Steve Coppell. He said, 'All right Dave, I'm the Bristol City manager, and was wondering if you'd be interested in having a look at the club?' "If it had been anyone else, I would not have considered it, but such was my respect for Steve that Bristol City became a serious contender."
Corky Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 It is an unwritten law of nature that Forest will always find new and exciting ways to make a massive pigs ear of the play offs. Avoid all that this season by sitting neatly in mid-table
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 CELEBRATE CARDIFF CITY'S WIN OVER LEEDS UNITED £9.99 gets you these beauties.
StanSP Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 That is embarrassing. It's a win in October and they aren't great rivals are they ?? £10 as well ?!
Jimothy Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 That is embarrassing. It's a win in October and they aren't great rivals are they ?? £10 as well ?! Thought they had a bit of a rivalry after that FA Cup clash at Ninian Park a few years back when it all kick off between the fans. Still embarrassing though.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 A) they were taking orders pre-match for said game, it wasn't a brainchild AFTER the victory. B) It's not a T-Shirt! However much people hate match DVDs and stuff, there is surely a heirachy of cringe, with comemorative mugs, keyrings and shirts being top of the list.

A 3-0 win in a local derby being commemorated by a DVD versus a 4-0 win against a team that couldn't give two shites about you being commemorated by mongy memorabilia. That my friend is tinpot beyond belief. It's as bad as the Barnsley car stickers to commemorate their 5-2 win against Leeds. Leeds really must love not being famous any more. PS: Congrats on passing your driving test.
Jimothy Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 Andy Reid to the Blades Good loan signing that. For Reid. They do say stripes are slimming.
The Doctor Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 For Reid. They do say stripes are slimming. didn't work like that for him at sunderland though.
FoxyPV Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Tarrabt's goal. Hammill's goal for Barnsley. Definitely wouldn't be short for a seat at the Oakwell. Derby are looking really good (unfortunately)
StanSP Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Tarrabt's goal. Hammill's goal 35 yards out. Power. Swerve. Brilliant hit.
kylestyle06 Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Leicester got a whole 5 seconds on the football leave show tonight!!!
ScouseFox Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Howson's perfect hat trick was quite nice aswell.
BlueSi13 Posted 31 October 2010 Posted 31 October 2010 Cardiff look set to run away with this league, their attacking line up could do a job in the Premier League i reckon, but what are the odds on both Welsh clubs going up this year i wonder?

Lets hope Boothroyd, Chopra and Bellamy are all out injured again when we next meet them. They would've destroyed our feeble defence that night.
Mee Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Ibanez sent off for West Brom. Penalty won by DJ. Goal Blackpool!
The Doctor Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Ibanez sent off for West Brom. Penalty won by DJ. Goal Blackpool! nothing to do with the championship.
Mee Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 nothing to do with the championship. I'm getting my bloody leagues confused. To use to these being in the championship last season!
Jimothy Posted 2 November 2010 Posted 2 November 2010 Normally don't wish injury on anyone but I'll make an exception for this bloke. Link Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan has been ruled out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament damage. The 32-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday's 1-0 Championship defeat by Coventry. Boss Gary Speed said: "It's a massive blow for Chris and the club and realistically we won't see him in action until pre-season training. "The lads we have that can play in the central defender's role will miss his experience and spirit."
MC Prussian Posted 3 November 2010 Posted 3 November 2010 Well, his disgraceful behaviour on the pitch had to come back to haunt the jaw-breaker at one point.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Hahahahahahaha at Morgan. Couple of good derbies to look forward to this weekend. Cardiff-Swansea and 'Ull-Scunneh.
