Fox You Forest Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Nothing beats a late winner, gutted Big Steve couldn't finish after that bit of magic by Gallagher what a goal that would have been.

MrSpaM Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Sousa interview up on bbc site:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/8941676.stm
Guest Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 The one Leeds fan singing at us outside the stadium after the game 'Fcuk off down the M1!' That really made me smile Decent night, cracking second half. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Thracian Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Stirring recovery and so well deserved. This wasn't one of those snatch and grab raids, City played some quality football, particularly second half when King entered the fray to join Gallagher in pressing forward in support of Howard. Wellens and Howard's late penalty provided the goals but we carved out some excellent chances too, throwing at least three away in the first half including a couple of close range headers and then almost scoring a truly memoable goal when Gallagher backflicked the ball passed a defender with the outside of his foot and crossed perfectly for Howard to slide in for what seemed a certain close-range goal but in fact produced the save of the match. Gradel was Leeds greatest threat and gave Berner a torrid time. First warning came very early when his cross from the right bounced on the edge of the six yard box with a Leeds player so close to getting a finishing touch. He then produced a tip-over save from Logan with a fierce angled drive and finally provided a perfect first time cross from which Leeds took the lead with the simplest finish. Second half he threatened to run riot and had a couple of particularly mazy runs but Richie Wellens slowed him up somewhat with a late challenge which might well have got him send off rather than simply carded. However it certainly dumped Gradel unceremoniously onto the floor in what looked like considerable pain and brought immediate appreciation from the Leicester fans who cahnted Wellens name with delight. King's introduction second half seemed to galvanise City. Apart from saving the game when he kicked a goalbound shot off the line he was as active and available as he was absent from the fray on Saturday and how Gallagher, Howard and others benefitted from having stacks of movement and passing options all around them. Altogether City - as against Middlesbrough - looked a far more attractive and inovative side than they mostly looked under Pearson playing their part in what was an always interesting and entertaining game, certainly for the last 70 minutes. The only downside was the food. At the ground and elsewhere I wouldn't have fed it as scraps to the dog I'm looking after. Logan 7 (Couple of excellent tip-overs and save when catching a couple of hanging crosses second half. No chance with the goal). Berner 5 (Disappointing.Gradel gave him something of a nightmare at times, made the Leeds goal and was left completely unmarked for a close range drive which Logan tipped over and for another cross which was so close to a goal for Leeds early in the game. Sadly for Berner he looked no more at ease in the second half). Hobbs 6.5 (Not noticably exposed tonight - coped soundly enough). Morisson 6 (Up and down sort of game but we did look more solid than against Burnley).. Lamey 6 (Still settling but is probably our best choice at right back). Wellens 8 (Welcome goal, put himself about, did well to hold central midfield together second half when King and Gallgher pushed up and slowed Gradel with a crunching tackle). Moreno 7 (Quite tidy in central midfield) Moussa 7 (See above) N'Guessan 7 (I've always thought N'Guessan is far more dangerous in a central striking role and once again he showed as much today when he roved and caused Leeds lots of problems) Gallagher 7.5 (Woeful til half-time but inspired afterwards and might easily have made a quite brilliant goal for Howard but the striker's close-range shot was somehow saved). Howard 8 (Scored the winner from a penalty taken with attitude and featured in so many City moves with his hold-up play and steady distribution. Should probably have had a hat-trick) Subs King 8 (Match-saving goalline clearance and as influential as his was absent against Burnley when he came on second half. Always eager for the ball,, he made so many intelligent runs into and around the penalty area and his passing was much more assured and constructive than if was on Saturday) . Kennedy 5 (Tried to get forward but looked like a boy playing man's football).
milan_foxes Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Got back about 20 minutes ago and feel like writing about the whole experience. Don't know what happened on the M1 but we ended up going through farms, and country-roads in the middle of pissing Barnsley! We then got into Leeds... and had no clue where the ground was because there was not one sign for Elland Road in sight. But by luck, a car pulled in front of us, with four Leeds fans in it and a Leeds scarf out the window, so straight away we just followed it. By the time we parked up and got into the ground and to our seats, it was 7:50... only the second time EVER, i've missed kick-off for a Leicester game. Didn't have a clue who was (and wasn't) playing to start with. I thought Moussa was Campbell and Gallagher was King ! Leeds did look very promising when attacking and deserved to go into half-time winning. But Sousa worked his magic by bringing on Andy King, and he changed the game upside down. Also, when Kennedy came on, he looked a real threat while Gallagher looked also exciteable up top with Howard. Wellens took his goal well and then from that moment we always looked promising coming forward. N'Guessan had there LB in his back pocket. Howard was winning everything in the air and Wellens & King were good going forward and helping the attack. Thought we should of scored about 80 minutes when the ball came to Gallagher about 6-yards out, all he had to do was roll it into the corner but instead he decides to turn his back and go back to the edge of the area where the move broke down. Then came the 89th minute - the point when the South Stand of Elland Road, errupted! Everyone in the ground could see it was a BLATANT handball and the Ref had no doubts about awarding it. As the ground went silent for about 30 seconds then... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Super Steve Howard sends the keeper the wrong way and Leeds fans head for the exit. That moment, where I felt proud to be a City fan with the rest of the Leicester fans celebrating with one another and you could see that it actually meant something to the players as well. Got to say though, the Leeds stewards were pathetic ! We had two indians near us and they were just like pufters. Memorable experience there. Hopefully we can start progressing in the League as well now

NGoloMode Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Gradel being out for so long couldn't have helped Berner. Happy with a win.

Fox1994 Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 STAND UP IF U LOVE LEICESTER Did i see correctly, were they chucking people out for standing ??
milan_foxes Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Did i see correctly, were they chucking people out for standing ?? Yes. I saw at least 10
Fosse Boy Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Yeah, fair few thrown out including one lad off here. Walked out after him so I only saw 15 odd minutes of the game. The stewards themselves seemed pretty tame but it was when the daft woman in a suit started wading in dishing out abuse and acting the cunt that row upon row started sitting down. No idea why people caved in so easily on the front ten rows. Anyway, glad we're through and glad Richie got on the scoresheet. Just wish I was there to see it.
Fox1994 Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 it was the jobworths in the suits that pissed me off, the other stewards seemed okay. i was at the front, row D and if i stood up people behind yelled at me to sit down. i didnt want to be dick and obstruct there veiw so i just sat down. stand up if you love leicester was quality though!
z-layrex Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 My mate(leeds fan)was giving it the large one when they scored then i got this charming text"You cocksuckers, who needs that shitty cup anyway" My gf's family are all Leeds fans, her bro sent me a text proper giving it one when they scored too . I just forwarded it back to him at full time with the names reversed. Mighty Leeds my dick. Portsmouth or LDN club next please.
skinnydipper Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Match Stats Seems as if we had the better of it overall
Trickyfox Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 I thought we were doomed!!! Reading various posts yesterday that’s the impression I got about city, Sousa was rubbish, the team he was putting out were not up for it and his tactics were pathetic and we need new players. My assessment is that the opening games of the season are a tough series of games - we are playing 3 of the relegated premiership sides and 3 good teams from last season – Cardiff, Reading and Middlesbrough. Its going to be tough this year. Keep the faith
the new guy Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 were was dj that game no were to be seen ????
leftsideoverhere Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Yeah, fair few thrown out including one lad off here. Across on the right hand side, there were a fair few empty seats. I was stood to begin with, as were most of those around me, but the empty seats made it easy for the stewards to wade in and stand next to, or in front of, each person standing, and get eye contact and then say "sit down please". In the face of such an effort, with police standing by, it's not surprising that most of us ended up sitting. Trouble is, the stewards kept blocking my view. But it was hugely infuriating that the home end opposite us were mostly standing all game, and the stewards over there evidently did nothing about it. Most grounds you go to, like the Walkers, the home fans are mostly under the thumb of the stewards but the away end is left pretty much to do what they like. Not at Leeds. It wasn't dangerous for us to be standing, there was no likelihood of trouble, but the stewards all behaved like wannabe Stalins just out of habit or sheer bloody mindedness. Until the penalty. Then they, like the Leeds fans in the main stand, gave up.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Week commencing 20 September. Quality night out, especially when ltravelling back to Leeds city centre on a shuttle bus wiith a bunch of saddened locals.. The second half comeback shoukd hopefullly put paid to any nonsense about Sousa "losing the dressing room". Howard in particular was immense, and made sure that neither DJ nor Fryatt were particularly missed. I trust that the anti-Sousa brigade will now be gracioua enough to offer a grovelling apology.. That's rich comming from you, you have said and admittently been abusive and damn right disgusting to many on this forum and have never apologised. Go back into your hole you trouser dropping troll!!!
