Fosse Boy Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Anyone catch the lad in our end in a Liverpool shirt last night by the way? Words fail me sometimes.
SamL Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Across on the right hand side, there were a fair few empty seats. I was stood to begin with, as were most of those around me, but the empty seats made it easy for the stewards to wade in and stand next to, or in front of, each person standing, and get eye contact and then say "sit down please". In the face of such an effort, with police standing by, it's not surprising that most of us ended up sitting. Trouble is, the stewards kept blocking my view. But it was hugely infuriating that the home end opposite us were mostly standing all game, and the stewards over there evidently did nothing about it. Most grounds you go to, like the Walkers, the home fans are mostly under the thumb of the stewards but the away end is left pretty much to do what they like. Not at Leeds. It wasn't dangerous for us to be standing, there was no likelihood of trouble, but the stewards all behaved like wannabe Stalins just out of habit or sheer bloody mindedness. Until the penalty. Then they, like the Leeds fans in the main stand, gave up. I agree with what you're saying. However, if a large number of our fans had the bottle to stand up and ignore the stewards in the process, the stewards aren't going to eject everybody are they? No. This is exactly why teams like Millwall and Leeds are left to their own devices in away ends up and down the country because stewards know that they're not going to get anywhere by asking them to sit down.
milan_foxes Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 ? The stewards were a darker colour skin tone
Bert Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 That sure was a game of two halves. To start off, max gradel never played that well, or whipped in balls like that for us! Thought Wellens was man of the match by a distance, even in the first half, along with steve and Hobbs they were the only ones that performed. The game massively changed at half time. A different, positive formation was the start of it. Paul Gallagher up front had his best game for city, and I really believe it when I say it too. King was immense when he came on too, he just gave us everything we were missing in the first half. Howard fully deserved his goal after a fantastic performance too, won absolutely everything in the air and rolled back the years. Wellens on a booking, scored the equaliser, still gave everything he could give and stuck one on max too. Thought the mous had a decent enough game too, very direct. In the second half yesterday, my team gave my everything I wanted from them, spirit and passion. To come back down from one nil at half time to win at ground like elland road was fantastic for me.
Bert Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 The stewards were only doing what they were told to be fair to them. It was the suits that were annoying, walking by waving and smiling like they were royalty. They had 5000 stood in the opposite stand, and stewards stood next to them seemingly not doing anything. Also, they let us stand at half time, so why not the game? . I desperately wanted to stand up, but I was situated in the miserable middle, and stewards were ticket checking when you tried to move.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Leeds are a quality side, and hard to beat at home, let alone away. Good result. Let's build on that now. Come on City.

For me the middle block was the catalyst to get everyone to sit down. Unfortunately I was also stuck in what was probably the most miserable block of supporters in footballing history, and as soon as they sat down they probably gave license for the stewards to crack down properly. Had the middle block stood I'm not so certain they would have cracked the whip so much (depending on the reputation of the Leeds stewards, that is) Fortunately I moved at half time, I couldn't stand sitting next to a 75 year old commentator whose 'ooooh dear' and 'arghs' throughout weren't appreciated (added to that sitting down meant I had a wonderful view of the crossbar, but jack all else going on in the far left hand corner of the pitch.)
sdb Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 for those that were there; was the 2nd half side the starting XI we should go with on Sat? Or was it more of an 'impact' type side? One that wouldn't work over 90 mins?
The MayneFox Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Got back about 20 minutes ago and feel like writing about the whole experience. Don't know what happened on the M1 but we ended up going through farms, and country-roads in the middle of pissing Barnsley! We then got into Leeds... and had no clue where the ground was because there was not one sign for Elland Road in sight. But by luck, a car pulled in front of us, with four Leeds fans in it and a Leeds scarf out the window, so straight away we just followed it. By the time we parked up and got into the ground and to our seats, it was 7:50... only the second time EVER, i've missed kick-off for a Leicester game. Didn't have a clue who was (and wasn't) playing to start with. I thought Moussa was Campbell and Gallagher was King ! Leeds did look very promising when attacking and deserved to go into half-time winning. But Sousa worked his magic by bringing on Andy King, and he changed the game upside down. Also, when Kennedy came on, he looked a real threat while Gallagher looked also exciteable up top with Howard. Wellens took his goal well and then from that moment we always looked promising coming forward. N'Guessan had there LB in his back pocket. Howard was winning everything in the air and Wellens & King were good going forward and helping the attack. Thought we should of scored about 80 minutes when the ball came to Gallagher about 6-yards out, all he had to do was roll it into the corner but instead he decides to turn his back and go back to the edge of the area where the move broke down. Then came the 89th minute - the point when the South Stand of Elland Road, errupted! Everyone in the ground could see it was a BLATANT handball and the Ref had no doubts about awarding it. As the ground went silent for about 30 seconds then... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Super Steve Howard sends the keeper the wrong way and Leeds fans head for the exit. That moment, where I felt proud to be a City fan with the rest of the Leicester fans celebrating with one another and you could see that it actually meant something to the players as well. Got to say though, the Leeds stewards were pathetic ! We had two indians near us and they were just like pufters. Memorable experience there. Hopefully we can start progressing in the League as well now mmm there was loads of seats near me (right side) then you guys turned up
clare Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 I'm a City fan living in Leeds and needless to say, when they went 1-0 up, my phone started going off with LUFC supporting mates giving it the big one. I just decided to leave it until after the match and forward it back basically saying 'ha ha, fook you!'. In terms of the game, I thought we were poor in the first half. Gallagher was caught offside several times and we couldn't really work any chances. I must admit, when they scored, I thought 'oh no' and imagined them getting another one. Thankfully, though, we were much better in the second half and there was some excellent link-up play between Howard and Gallagher. Howard was definitely MOTM for me - he won everything in the air, held the ball up well and linked up with Gallagher well. Walking back through Leeds city centre by myself in my City fleece was interesting after the game! At work today, I've made sure to pay a visit to all those people who confidently/misguidedly/arrogantly (delete as appropriate) a Leeds win! As for thw stewards, they were acting like idiots. We were standing up and causing nobody any harm or trouble, so why be so heavy handed and piss off the entire away section by being jobsworths? Stand up if you love Leicester! I'd like any team in the next round apart from another Championship side. It'll be more interesting that way!

LCFC LOCKY Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Sorry mate but you represent everything I dislike in a city fan Well i understand that people want to watch a game of football, im not saying we should just run riot at the match but when 1 person goes mad and offers 50 leicester fans out then manages to walk off cus we were scared doesnt look very good does it. fair enough you get families at games and people who dont want trouble. i dont think we should start trouble either im just saying we need to stand up for our selfs and stand together when someone starts trouble with us, not just run away! I dont know if you saw what he did but he would have never got away with that back in the day so why did he now?
harpendenfox Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 LCFC Locky is in fact a 36 year old accountant specialising in corporate tax law

How hardcore would you lot have been, beating the crap out of one person. I'm sure if 49 of his mates had come running to help him you'd have been running faster than Usain Bolt on crack I dont know if you saw what he did but he would have never got away with that back in the day so why did he now? Because people don't go to a game with the intention of kicking the living daylights out of people anymore? Fans don't have that 1980s mentality anymore? I dunno, care to enlighten us?
davbison Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Am I the only one confused by the term "popo"? Wasn't he one of the teletubbies? In all seriousness, you've come across as a neanderthal from your post. It's not the 1970's anymore.
phillthefox Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 can i just say big respect to the travelling city boys last night we were non stop all game and put those dirty leeds to shame... and well done to all chanting when the stewards tried to keep us seated.......... Well done big steve howard on your 200th goal
Wdywd Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 The guy who started mouthing off was hilarious, everyone just looked at him with a mixture of confusion and pity. On the subject of the game, I wrote a big post on what I thought of it somewhere else, is it worth posting or have we moved on to hooliganism now?

MightyWhite Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Hey Foxes - Leeds fan in peace here. Just thought I'd congratulate you on your win last night. Although we controlled the 1st half, you really turned it up in the 2nd and made an impressive comeback. Eventually it was a mistake by our Collins at the end that cost us a place in the 3rd round but I'm not making excuses - Leicester were the better team for the last 45 minutes. Anyway, good luck in the league and the rest of the cup too - although if you draw Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton or one of the Manchester teams on Saturday I'll REALLY be kicking myself! All the best!

It's not a case of keeping my head down it's a case of not giving idiots like that the attention they are seeking ignoring them is by far the better solution and the more that people do ignore him and better still not even looking at them the stupider they will look. Unfortunately i feel the same about people who post tripe like you've done only this time I've been unable to resist replying to you when in fact your type of post is best ignored just like the idiot you referred to.
