Ozwin Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 Heard mixed things about them, got some decent contract offers though so if you get decent signal in Leicester then it might be worth using them. I heard it massively varies throughout the country though.
Hitesh Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 It's better than it used to be - a few friends are on 3 and they said they haven't had a problem with signal and 3G coverage. This map might help: http://www.knowyourmobile.com/mobile-phones-operators/three/283340/3_3g_network_coverage_map.html
Jackirius Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 Im with O2 and could not reccomend it highly enough, rewards new and existing customers, good signals, good tariffs good contracts cheap phones. Lots of other extras like o2 Surprises and Priority tickets to venues...
Uncle Phil Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 I'm with 3 and have no problems with reception or them to be honest. I've been with them a few years now and get cracking deals from them.
Ozwin Posted 27 August 2010 Author Posted 27 August 2010 O2 are alright but their contracts are a bit pricey, for the handset anyway. I was on O2 for years a while back and I never got free texts or anything. I'm on Orange at the minute but the only benefit to being with them is Orange Wednesdays.

But o2 contracts are more about the phone which comes with it and is really good with pay as you go. If your looking for a really good contract then i would go for Vodaphone. Dont really know much about 3 myself...
Guest Bilo Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 3 mobile tend to tempt you in with great handsets and good contracts but god help you if you need customer service at any time. Their customer service and call centres are without doubt the worst I have ever experienced. And I was with Norwich Union for two years. When I left 3 at the end of my contract, I had to go as far as sending recorded delivery letters so they wouldn't just continue my contract regardless and pretend they hadn't received my letters. It took months before they finally accepted that I no longer wished to use them. If you go with 3, you'll regret it. Avoid.
Ozwin Posted 27 August 2010 Author Posted 27 August 2010 Wow, now that's put me off! I'm gonna go with Tesco Mobile if I can but they are constantly out of stock on the iPhone 4.
Narborough_fox Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 Wow, now that's put me off! Meh if you've been put off I'm as well as posting this. Sister had it last year and she got reception nowhere we went, Leicester, Scotland anywhere. We tried to find out and thy are useless. Yes it may of beenn cheap but it is by far the worst out there. Mum had Tesco Mobile they were very good, i'd recommend them for a cheap company.
Brainy Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 3 is good for the free stuff, just be prepared for your phone to restart itself alot.
AmericanScott Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 My first ever phone was a 3 specific phone. One of the first to be 3G enabled. 3 as a network was great but i did pay as you go so it was pricey. They do cheap pay monthly tariffs so go for it. I've got an o2 sim only tariff 800 mins 800 texts and unlimited internet for £20 Month.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 I wouldn't last on a contract that didn't offer unlimited texts.
Ashley Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 3 is an excellent network, I have been on all networks now and 3 is the best out the lot, I've never had a problem with signal at all and for the phone restarting it self I've recently gone on a contract with o2 as they was doing the Blackberry 9700 for £25 - 300 Minutes and unlimited texts and unlimited BBM, I searched my area on the coverage link posted for o2 and it said I would receive full 3G signal and do I? No, I get GPRS. So if I was you I'd go with 3
AmericanScott Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 just don't go Vodafone...cocks Agreed, My brother got phone insurance when he got his contract out and when his phone screen broke they didn't want to know. So he said "well cancel my insurance then as it's pointless" "yeah sure no problem" They said. "Your insurance is cancelled now sir. Sadly, since you've just cancelled your insurance i can't offer you a courtesy phone whilst your's gets repaired" My brother nearly knocked the poor fecker out before the manager stepped in and offered the courtesy phone.
Ozwin Posted 27 August 2010 Author Posted 27 August 2010 So 3 are different to normal networks then? They use 3G? I still don't really know how they work. I don't suppose anyone knows if there's any Tesco stores in Leicester than have a mobile section in them do they?
Jackirius Posted 28 August 2010 Posted 28 August 2010 3G stands for third generation to put it simple it quickens up the phones general use but mainly its about making the internet connection better.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 28 August 2010 Posted 28 August 2010 Rarely ever have a problem with them. I'm in a good reception area. The only times I ever have any trouble are when the signal is low, and that only happens when i'm in Boggy Leyes Tescos, or somewhere extraordinarily rural on the way to an away game.
The Doctor Posted 30 August 2010 Posted 30 August 2010 just don't go Vodafone...cocks really? I've had no problems with them at all, The offer texts are irritating but i had that with orange as well - much better reception than orange though. Although that maybe because i don't actually use my phone all that much. Put £20 credit on last november, there's still just under a quater of it left.
