ACF Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 The review system is against God says I. But I bet if it went in our favour at a crucial point in the game, you wouldn't think that.

Think we may as well wheel out two robots with ball counters if we're gonna keep undermining the ump's authority so much. Third ump. Yes. Sensible idea for run outs and stumpings. Anything beyond that should be left to human error and the spirit of the game (i.e. walking if you've hit a catch behind) in my opinion.

And how often will you see someone walk nowadays. Until they do start to walk, system must be kept.

That's the thing though, while the concept of walking is sadly relatively rare at the top level now (notable exceptions like Gilchrist aside), the use of the review system in Tests has a knock-on effect and filters down to lower levels of the game. So kids who see players challenging human error on TV by using the review system then think "I'll have a piece of that" at youth games/village games/whatever and start gobbing off at umps, refuse to leave the crease if given a shit decision etc.

The umpires are there for a reason - let them be. Trott is playing a dangerous game here.
martyn Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Trott trying to whip straight balls through midwicket. Not wise.

They don't have third umpires there, they just need to get the hell on with it.

Then shouldn't their professional peers playing for their country set the example and do the same thing rather than using the review system?
Fosse Boy Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 King Power in the crowd there Beat me to it.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Wattooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
martyn Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Awfully loose shot from Trott, like much of his innings.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Was a good nut seemed to move in the air then just moved off the seam.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Honours even at lunch maybe England slightly ahead, Would of loved if X had held that catch
Joe. Posted 25 November 2010 Posted 25 November 2010 Honours even at lunch maybe England slightly ahead, Would of loved if X had held that catch Yeah bloody glad he didn't.... thought it might have been one of those days after three balls, thankfully we've steadied the ship a bit. I fancy Pietersen and Cook to crack up a good partnership together now so long as the former doesn't get a rush of blood to the head past the 50 mark should he get there.
