SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Combination of Very poor defensive captaining by Ricky Ponting and good batting by Strauss and Cook should see this game turning in to a draw
Fosse Boy Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 All ye of little faith, how daft do you feel now? Especially all the "omg wev lost da ashes" brigade after the first day's play.
ScouseFox Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Beautiful day's play. Surely we can't lose from here
Craig Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Beautiful day's play. Surely we can't lose from here Clearly last night's proved that anything can happen. It's looking good though
Corky Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Fantastic effort, delighted for Strauss after the first innings. Should get the draw now.
Edmund Posted 28 November 2010 Author Posted 28 November 2010 Yes Strauss, showing no fear after his duck in the first innings. You'd of thought we'd come out all defensive but showed the Aussies that we're still a class act.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 First time in 72 years both our openers have scored a century against Australia. If my house move goes well today, I can watch the whole of the last day. God bless Mondays off work
Brainy Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 whats all this faith bollocks? not many teams concede a first innings lead of 200+ and save the match, and not very often in recent years have england scored 300 only losing one wicket. very perfect day though.
Mack Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 For goodness sake this match is far, far from over!!! whilst it's incredibly unlikely, nigh on impossible, that we'll win, a draw isn't out of the question by a long way. On another day we'd have bowled the Aussies out before lunch for a similar total. Anderson bowled fantastically and was incredibly unlucky beating the bat several times and had Hussey plum lbw, just unfortunate that Aleem Dar didn't get the decision right. Don't forget the first five Aussie wickets fell for 140 odd and the last five fell for about 30, they're far from invincible. Their bowling unit doesn't look world beating either, granted Siddle had an excellent spell on the first day but apart from that there's not been much to fear and in a few cases it was our batsmen getting themselves out rather than being got out by the Aussie attack. Plus, if we do manage to get a half decent lead say 175-200, the pitch looks like it's going to be a bit of a minefield with cracks opening up and the surface dusting. Also, I think the GABBA was the least likely place we were going to win, it's been an Aussie stronghold for ages. We went 1-0 in 2005 to a better Aussie team than this and we didn't do too badly in the end!!! You were right, and I shot my bolt too soon. I was fully expecting us to roll over and let them take a 1-0 lead but we have really batted well and ridden our luck and got ourselves into a position. Barring a morning collapse we are good for the draw, which like you said is a good result at the Gabba.
Edmund Posted 28 November 2010 Author Posted 28 November 2010 Barring a morning collapse we are good for the draw, which like you said is a good result at the Gabba. It beats having to rely on rain for play to be called off
surrifox Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 delighted to be watching test match cricket you can truly believe in again unlike the Summer series against a Pakistan side where betting scandals overshadowed anything that took place on the field and you could believe nothing you were seeing
Sparky Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 delighted to be watching test match cricket you can truly believe in again unlike the Summer series against a Pakistan side where betting scandals overshadowed anything that took place on the field and you could believe nothing you were seeing Fully agree, both teams are busting a bollock to win the test and its making great viewing. The England/Australia rivallry in cricket is fantastic.
Simmo86 Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Only night I dont stay up and miss the best day we've had so far!! If we lose our last 9 wickets for 50 runs tonight blame me for tuning in!!
ramboacdc Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 snow forecast for tonight and i need to get the bus tomorrow so i may stay up all night! or at least until we declare.
FoxyPV Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Just can't see the Aussies bowling England out. This test looks like it's heading for a draw.
Fox You Forest Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Clarke. On that note, time for some kip.
Leicester_Mad Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Saw a Kingpower shirt dancing away in the crowd!
Fox You Forest Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Saw a guy yesterday too, wearing one of the white training tops. Wheels are coming off.
StanSP Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Saw a guy yesterday too, wearing one of the white training tops. Wheels are coming off. Johnson's penultimate ball of that last over. Excellent!

I am Rod Hull Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Talk about counting your chickens! The Aussies are dead on there feet.. they cant take 20 wickets with that bowling attack.... They dont have the fight of previous Aussie teams.... Or the players....
