BoneDog Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 74 is an Adam and the Ants track 704 is one of my favourite songs ever! Let's go with 704 then! No disrespect intended to Adam or any of The Ants.
Webbo Posted 27 March 2011 Posted 27 March 2011 Thanks for the request Trav, not really a Queen fan (her Maj excepted) but I liked the Burt Baccarat track.
BoneDog Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 What's lined up for today marra? I shall be tuning in. Something happened last week and I missed it so I never got to find out what track 704 was!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 April 2011 Author Posted 3 April 2011 Today we have... An episode of the Goon Show (The Treasure of Loch Lomond) in 4 parts A new feature I'm calling Something old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Some Blues. (An old song, a new song, a cover version and erm... some blues) Another new feature called Dour Tune (a mick take of the the old Our Tune that Simon Bates used to do.) an eclectic mix of tunes AND track number 704 I certainly don't mind playing that one again. My tracklist is now up to 5324 songs, so if anyone would like a random request, I'll be doing that again too. Live from 6pm to 8pm on www.roguesradio.com
BoneDog Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 I've not heard that episode of The Goons. Simon Bates Our Tune rings a bell if it had some background (maybe organ) music while he was reading out the request. Yeah play 704 again if you have time to fit it in
BoneDog Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Why the hell did you have your thumb in a door lock? Sounds like quite a comedy moment - although it probably wasn't for you!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 April 2011 Author Posted 3 April 2011 I'm a postie and I was delivering to a factory unit and I thought the lock was a latch... it wasn't
BoneDog Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Must of stung like a bitch! I've never heard this Bonnie 'Prince' Billy song before (or the Johnny Cash version). Sounds good and I'll give it another listen. YES....a bit of class New Order.
BoneDog Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Just remembered there was a tune at the end of last week that I liked and can't remember what it is called. It was either the last or second from last track and I think it's quite well known because I've heard it before. I thought it was Portishead or Placebo when I heard it (don't know why cos I don't really know what they sound like) but looked at the 'now playing' thing and the artist and track name both began with an A. Can you remember which track it was?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 April 2011 Author Posted 8 April 2011 That my friend was probably Massive Attack with Teardrop. Good innit. Do NOT listen to inferior Faulkner copies!
BoneDog Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 That's the one, love it. Canna believe I didn't know it was Massive Attack. I don't know what a Faulkner copy is!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 April 2011 Author Posted 8 April 2011 That's the one, love it. Canna believe I didn't know it was Massive Attack. I don't know what a Faulkner copy is! Keep it that way - it's awful!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 April 2011 Author Posted 9 April 2011 After today, tomorrow's show can only have a feel-good summertime theme! In an alternative style of course. And with more Dour Tunes and Something Old, Something New...
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 April 2011 Author Posted 10 April 2011 Welcome aboard! If you have any summery requests, let me know.
BoneDog Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 What you said was correct Trav, I did know of course! I've been trying to think of a decent summery tune that I love without any vulgarity in it but I'm struggling. The only one that springs to mind is Roy Ayers, but I'm enjoying the show anyway so no worries. I think I'm trying to be too literal with the summer part and that's why my mind's gone blank!
BoneDog Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Tut, tut, tut - scandalous language yet again. I had to sing a quick loud high-pitched opera "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr" to stop my 6 year old niece hearing that else she'd of been appalled. You playing 'It's Tricky' after the slip up has cheered me up and stopped me from writing to the Radio Authority
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 April 2011 Author Posted 10 April 2011 Phew, and then the website crashed - I killed it!
BoneDog Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 I stayed tuned in to listen to Judas Priest but then turned off so I missed the crash!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 April 2011 Author Posted 17 April 2011 Further to last week when I said I wouldn't be on air this Sunday, well I am. Keeping it kind of solemn tonight though, as I will be going out straight after to the most importnant religious observance of the year for me, so kind of keeping myself in the right frame of mind. That doesn't mean it won't be quality of course!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 April 2011 Author Posted 18 April 2011 Okay, so I said for next week I'd play tracks from my top 10 albums, but I'm having a real hard time deciding what those top 10 are! So, I'm going to list 50 albums here and ask you, the listener, to choose which albums you'd like to hear tracks from. Just post them in here! Screamadelica - Primal Scream Surfer Rosa - Pixies Doolittle - Pixies Loveless - My Bloody Valentine Isn't Anything - My Bloody Valentine Technique - New Order Low Life - New Order Nevermind - Nirvana In Utero - Nirvana 3ft High & Rising - De La Soul Harvest - Neil Young Grace - Jeff Buckley All About Eve - All About Eve Songs For The Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age Angel Dust - Faith No More Moon Safari - Air Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space - Spiritualized Antics - Interpol Use Your Illusion II - Guns n Roses Appetite For Destruction - Guns n Roses Superunknown - Soundgarden Ballad of the Broken Sea - Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell The Trinity Seasons - Cowboy Junkies Pump - Aerosmith Daydream Nation - Sonic Youth Deserter Songs - Mercury Rev Dummy - Portishead Lexicon of Love - ABC Free All Angels - Ash Sons For Swinging Lovers - Frank Sinatra Timeless - Goldie Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes Gentlemen - Afghan Whigs The Good Will Out - Embrace Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me - The Cure Disintergration - The Cure Violator - Depeche Mode Black Celebration - Depeche Mode Howling Bells - Howling Bells Is This It? - The Strokes Leftism - Leftfield New Transistor Heroes - Bis Hail To The Thief - Radiohead In Rainbows - Radiohead Origin of Symmetry - Muse Relationship of Command - At The Drive-in Slanted & Enchanted - Pavement The Soft Bulletin - The Flaming Lips There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Foo Fighters Colour and the Shape - Foo Fighters Thunder, Lightning, Strike - The Go! Team His & Hers - Pulp Floodland - Sisters of Mercy Vitalogy - Pearl Jam Hello Nasty - Beastie Boys That's a little over 50 but what the hey, also I've limited artists to a 2 album max or there would be 4-5 artists hogging most of it.
BoneDog Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 This list reminds me of most of your radio shows - I haven't knowingly heard most of the music on it! On Sundays show I think I'd only heard one song before! That's not a complaint by the way New Order, Depeche Mode, De La Soul, Pulp, Guns n Roses, Beastie Boys, Goldie and Nirvana are the only albums there that I can say for certain that I've heard. I've maybe heard the Radiohead, Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Cure, Sinatra and Faith No More ones because I have family and friends who are big fans of them. Out of the few I know for definite, I would say that you canna go wrong with some Depeche Mode.
The Doctor Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 screamadelica, nevermind, nothing left to lose, songs for the deaf and origin of symmetry
