Collymore Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I really could see a difference today. Gallagher looked like he had extra pace that I didn't even see under Pearson, wellens looked really sharp and fit and Howard looked like he was 21 again. What the hell was Sousa playing at?
FoxySmithy123 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Yeah i agree. But the defence would be fit. They are all or apart from Hobbs today Premier League. Davis is extremely fit followed by the amazing pace of Naughton.
Jimmy Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 you can't call Cunningham premier league, I don't think he's even played in it, except maybe a cameo sub appearance, I actually think we'll sign him permanently in Jan

Mr B Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I actually thought he looked exposed today He's young, just needs to get some experience. If we sign him permanently could be a very good signing for us.
Corky Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 The fitness does seem a lot sharper, we were still going forward and getting plenty attacking well into the later stages of the game.
Haydos Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Remember watching a Man City league cup match last season and Cunningham came on. We took him on on as a favourite, being a young lad and the only youth player to come off the bench in a 'big' team. Looked sharp that day and we got right behind him and delighted he's come to us. Sven seems to think he's good enough for a starting place so I hope to see him in action soon.
teblin Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I actually thought he looked exposed today might have something to do with gally too.
Collymore Posted 14 November 2010 Author Posted 14 November 2010 might have something to do with gally too. It was more those cross diagonal long balls Derby were playing. When they tried to hit them to our right, Naughton was eating them up all day, but when they went left, they seemed to go over Cunningham everytime. His positioning just seemed to be a few yards off.

This. Occasionally, Cunningham won't track his man and doesn't get tight enough to the winger. Prime example being Wednesday night - not tracking Yeates for the first.
Thracian Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I really could see a difference today. Gallagher looked like he had extra pace that I didn't even see under Pearson, wellens looked really sharp and fit and Howard looked like he was 21 again. What the hell was Sousa playing at? His blind spot regarding fitness really was a form of managerial suicide. Otherwise his brief watch was irrelevent. He never had the backing or resources being offered to Sven and, on reflection, was always a temporary incumbent who did actually try to get some ordinary players to play some proper football. But, football is all about end product. If you don't score you can't win and if you don't fight to get the ball you can't hurt anyone. Unfit players will never have enough of the ball to win anything, If nothing else I hope Sousa has learned that lesson.

He should develop his positioning over time. Once thats sorted, he will be a much better player. He looks a hot prospect.
