Daggers Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Tried searching the forum for the In/out threads covering the time he was here but can't find them. Any search I run only seems to throw up recent threads. Going through the locked threads hasn't brought them to light either. Think it'd be good to have a thread listing out the full magnitude of this man's impact on the club - love him or hate him, he's been an experience. Can we have a locked thread to put this stuff into for future reference?
davieG Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=25 Includes my ins/outs topic and the formal bid topic. Not sure there's anything more specific.

Daggers Posted 28 November 2010 Author Posted 28 November 2010 I'm not seeing them, mate. I'm a cretin.
Zingari Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 he saved the club and Portsmouth from certain destruction

davieG Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 http://sphericalfox....s-a-milannaire/ Without nit-picking and it's a relatively decent article but "Leicester City are in a better position than we have ever been" that is simple not true, I don't know how old the writer is and it may be the best position they've ever seen but it's way below the best I've seen.
Father Ted Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Born, August 5, 1938 Lika, Novi Sad Oblast, Kingdom of Yugoslavia but it's from wiki so may not be true/fact That's correct, he is indeed a Licanin Edit: That's now Croatia.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 spent 25 million since he's been here Actually, I heard that he publically understated his investment of £25m, so as not to reveal that he in fact spent £150m of his own cash on purchasing and making this club the great and proud team that it is today, and has been for the last three-and-a-half years.
sphericalfox Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 DavieG, As the person who wrote the Milan article in the link above. Not to nit-pick, but my inference is that we have never been in a better financial position, or prospective position. We have multi-millionaire owners and Sven-Goran Eriksson as our manager. Now, in technical terms you might say that we are in the bottom of the Championship. I wasn't referring to our league position in that statement. More like our potential. It's ascendancy not depressive monotony or mediocrity. That's all I was trying to get across. Milan made that so, regardless of what people make of his personality or how he achieved this. BTW, thanks for everyone reading the article in the first place. It's hard being a lonely blogger
NorthernFox Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 I might seem a bit naive but I still think we could have been totally sunk if MM hadn't stepped in. Yes, he may have made a profit but I think we are definately in a better state now than when he took over. Good luck to him saving Wednesday. Blue Army
Jackirius Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Actually, I heard that he publically understated his investment of £25m, so as not to reveal that he in fact spent £150m of his own cash on purchasing and making this club the great and proud team that it is today, and has been for the last three-and-a-half years. 25million Yuan maybe.

BTW, thanks for everyone reading the article in the first place. It's hard being a lonely blogger Prospective isn't actual so you really can't state it as a fact. The finances of this club are totally unknown by the fans so to state otherwise is just guess work. Plenty of clubs have had multi-millionaire owners and have ended up in a worse position than we've ever been in. I think it's prudent to wait awhile yet before making such claims As an example we were in a pretty damn good position around the time MON left not only a high position in the league but with the £18 mill from the Heskey transfer. The fact that even from that position we went downhill should act as a warning for people not to count any chickens. No problem re reading the article it was a good read well laid out and provided some decent arguments and thoughts it was just that point I found at best misleading. Good luck with the blog

Tommy G Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Why don't we re name this thread "let's all have a dig at MM" cos I'm damn sure that's the intention. Boring - this has been done ten fold
Daggers Posted 28 November 2010 Author Posted 28 November 2010 Average attendance this 10/11 season: 21,853 Average attendance in the 07/08 season before he arrived: 22,837
Tommy G Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 Unfair stat as that will have spanned more games than 10/11.
Daggers Posted 28 November 2010 Author Posted 28 November 2010 Why don't we re name this thread "let's all have a dig at MM" cos I'm damn sure that's the intention. Boring - this has been done ten fold The purpose is to get rid of all of the "feelings" surrounding the debate so that the focus can be fact-driven. I think a reasoned debate about the man and his impact on the club has yet to be had - it has focussed on made-up truths (like the "We were going bust" type of arguments). Of course, if this bores you then you won't have to trouble yourself clicking on it again - which would be a shame as I think your contributions on the forum have really improved from what I've seen recently.
Tommy G Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 My point being I think you personally don't like him, its clear along with DavieG plus others, which is fair play. I personally don't think the bloke is a saint, I wouldn't trust him with a fiver but he came up trumps with the cash when we did need it. I think a simple poll of "did you like manderic or not" would have sorted this one out. I have neither a positive/negative feeling towards him. I think this subject has been done to death but maybe if this can now be the only thread where people can let of MM steam then so be it!

It's not a case of liking or disliking him it's as Daggers said basing ones opinion on facts not smoke-screened comments and media hype / misinformation. Pretty much the only times I say anything substantial about him is in response to other post to provide an alternative opinion, considering there are still folks that believe he bought the club for £25mill then it still seems necessary
Tommy G Posted 28 November 2010 Posted 28 November 2010 How do you determine facts? I think someone should whip the accounts off companies house and read the audit reports. I don't think anyone knows "facts" a lot of it is a smokescreen and that's the same with any foreign football investor these days
