cc_star Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Wonder if this topic has gained more importance following a 2nd indifferent performance from PVA. Whilst the Sheff Utd away games was a terrible game for a début, yesterdays was a much simpler game & apart from a nightmare spell after our second we won at a canter, & apart from wacking a free-kick against the bar, PVA didn't really shine. Berner's lack of pace was highlighted by Hobbs not being super-strong at LCB, but with Mee having settled in & Bruma on the way is it as clear cut a decision as PVA has some pace therefore he must be better? It's nice to have these sorts of decisions for a change, I think his energy & mobility will come in handy and we have another less challenging (on paper) to ease him further into the team, but if he doesn't come up trumps should we have another look at Berner?
Stevosevic Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Am i only the one who thought he played well? Was always looking to get forward, few long balls, can beat a man when he wants to, crossing wasn't the best but nobody could cross yesterday for some reason. It's exciting seeing two proper full backs.
lee(lcfc) Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 if i was berner i wont be to happy, wanting to leave to get games, start getting games and want to stay and signs a new contract then lose his place after 3, 4 games
Stevosevic Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 if i was berner i wont be to happy, wanting to leave to get games, start getting games and want to stay and signs a new contract then lose his place after 3, 4 games I'm sure when Sven and Bruno were having talks, Sven would have said he was still looking to bring in another LB.
StanSP Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 if i was berner i wont be to happy, wanting to leave to get games, start getting games and want to stay and signs a new contract then lose his place after 3, 4 games He's an experienced professional. I'm sure he'll cope in his own way. He'll get games no doubt. Van Aanholt won't start EVERY game.
Corky Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Got more pace than Berner obviously, gets forward well and hit a good free-kick. But he was out of position a bit and being smaller than Bruno couldn't cut out the aerial balls to the Barnsley right wing.
