Finnegan Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Yeah, but not from me personally. I understand that both sides are just as bad as each other but from what I witnessed, Celtic were the far better side in that respect. Bigotry is more than just racism. By the very nature of sectarianism they are both bigoted.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Bigotry is more than just racism. By the very nature of sectarianism they are both bigoted. I know, but from what I experienced Celtic were far better in that respect, as I said before, I see Celtic as the less-bigoted side by what I saw, I could be wrong but from my own experience I'm not.
Bugg Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Celtic = scum Rangers = scum Heart of Midlothian = that is all
CKB Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 It's not scary, it's the best thing I've ever experienced at a football match. Get yourself into the respective boozer of the team you're supporting early on, then hit up Parkhead/The bigot dome and sing your heart out. Even when Celtic lost back in October/November it was absolutely brilliant. As for tonight's Old Firm game it was absolutely quality. The football was mediocre at best but the occasion was brilliant. Loved seeing Diouf and 2 of his colleagues getting sent off and seeing Parkhead bounding out You'll Never Walk Alone, This Land is Your Land and Celtic Symphony. Much better than God Save the Queen and "hello, hello" that the others sing. All-in-all it made me even more eager to get back to Parkhead for another game. Celtic for the treble! Oh yeah no doubt, the atmosphere will be amazing and it will be like nothing i've experienced before.. As for the boozer that is the plan, i'm gonna get trashed and then just have no care in the world oh and that boozer will be a Celtic one of course!

celtickl Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Hello leicester fans. i'm a celtic fan who has just logged on to your forum as i was interested to see if you were talking about your former player neil lennon. and came a cross this thread. i'm surprised that so many people on here have got worked up about the recent glasgow derby (hate the term 'old firm') with the structure of scottish football meaning that teams face each other a minimum of 4 times each year and up to a record 7. it is enivitable that games are getting extremely heated. at least 1 of the glasgow derby's each season turns out the way wednesdays did (not to say i'm condoning it, far from it) it makes travelling home after these games very dangerous because of the sigifiicant minority who want to pick a fight ( which is usually people who haven't even been to the game that watch in pubs). the main reason i'm commenting though is that are fans in england aware that neil lennon has suffered several death threats including bulliets sent in the post and a hoax nail bomb also sent to him (at the moment he is recieving 24 hour security). when neil first joined celtic from leicester he was northern ireland captain who was popular with northern ireland fans, but as soon as he joined celtic his international career soon came to an end. just because he joined celtic. i see from some of your members that the former leicester players are still popular with your support. so i hope that some off you could show solidarity with neil and lend support to him. i think from his time with leicester he was a passionate player as he was wiith celtic and a passionate manager too. but i don't think anybody deserves this type of abuse. i would also like to point out that yes both celtic and rangers as clubs and the support that follows both teams have their history and different social backgrounds but so do other clubs around the world. so define all celtic and/or all rangers supporters as scum is wrong and not true. we both have our fair share of idiots but the majority of both supports are people who want to support their teams for football reasons and football reasons only. in football anyway good luck for the rest of the season
Finnegan Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 We (or at least I) knew about his retiring from international football and the death threats. Many of us are still incredibly fond of Lennon, as well, myself included. Although I do think he's tarnished his reputation since becoming manager of Celtic. You can be passionate without being a dick and I'm sorry but he's just embarrassed himself repeatedly over the last eighteen or so months.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Knew about Lennon, read his auto-biography a week or so back, brilliant read.

anotherharboroughfox Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Patrick Thislte is the best team in Glasgow Partick*
Fosse Boy Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 If anyone's got BBC Scotland the League Cup final's a cracking game at the moment. 1-1, Rangers just had a penalty awarded then revoked. Feel it could be a classic. Cool smokes in Celtic's end after their goal.
Simmo86 Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Cracking game....Rangers played out of their skins! Jelavic's winner was fairly strange!

lcfc"weasel" Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 hun bastards. That is all. As if you said that, in all my posts about the Old Firm in here at least I managed to refrain from calling anyone or anything a 'hun', LOVE it.
Narborough_fox Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Get in there! Brilliant. Nice to see Walter win his last final.
purpleronnie Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Does anyone know if rules are more relaxed in scotland than england as they seem to be able to do more, i.e. flags, smokes etc....
The Doctor Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 weasel - they deserve it, i saw a blunion jack and a union jack with kate and will's faces on it, discraceful.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Does anyone know if rules are more relaxed in scotland than england as they seem to be able to do more, i.e. flags, smokes etc.... They aren't really, they had pyro sniffing dogs at the last Old Firm game at the bigot dome. I think the reason you see more flags on sticks there is because more have the balls to try and sneak things in, the same applies to pyro. It also helps that the Green Brigade get to organise there own section at Hampden so can therefore ensure that the right LADs are around when stuff happens so people no there isn't anyone who will run to a steward, give your name or do you over down at the cop-shop. weasel - they deserve it, i saw a blunion jack and a union jack with kate and will's faces on it, discraceful. Valid.

Do you think wembley would let a fan group in to set up flags etc?...Especially with a rep for letting off pyro? I doubt it.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Does anyone know if rules are more relaxed in scotland than england as they seem to be able to do more, i.e. flags, smokes etc.... Apparently far stricter in terms of bans from clubs and cops handed out, but on the other hand when you've got such a strong bond and great organisation like they have at Celtic it must be easier to do on a regular basis. Read reports of dozens of lads just rushing down the aisles to block the exits when stewards have tried to kick people out for minor infractions. Unthinkable that that would happen at most clubs down here, just isn't the same unity among fanbases (bar your Man U/Leeds etc).
lcfc"weasel" Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Do you think wembley would let a fan group in to set up flags etc?...Especially with a rep for letting off pyro? I doubt it. How do you stop them, they pay there money just as much as anyone else. Also, as far as I'm aware it isn't actually members of the GB who do the pyro just those on the fringes, couple that with the fact I only know of one bloke who has been caught (for a flare, not a smoke) it can't be easy for clubs as they have to have indefinite proof of who set the pyro off.

They must have the ok from the stadium or they wouldn't be able to do it, I cant see wembley being so open especially when you read of stewards taking flags off little kids.
