Loan or Buy?

and with the loan situation is at the moment we have no idea how much we have spent, that was my criticism not of Sven but of the complete lack of transparency of what goes on at the club

To be fair they are running a private company, they don't have to reveal anything outside of the required tax returns etc.

But did we have 11 million to spend?

We don't know, we don't know how much has been spent either, or how much we are paying of their wages... but what the heck, lets use it as a stick to beat the manager. They've got nothing else to beat him with at the minute, so they need to find something.

Dave.

You say football is more popular now then years ago, the crowds thirty ,forty .or fifty years ago were far higher than what they are now

Terraces vs. seating is the very simple answer. You cannot argue with the television figures either, the money being splashed about and the fact alone that we have THAI owners proves how far the brand of just the Premier League has reached.

and you can't say the players are better then say the likes OFGeorge Best,Jimmy Greaves,Bobby Charlton John Charles, Ivor Allchurch ,Tom Finney, Stanley Mathews. Tommy Lawton, and many others.

You can easily say that. Physically very few if any of the footballers from that era can compete with today's elite footballers. The sheer pace of the game has augmented remarkably since then. That in itself gives enough weight to the argument that footballers today are better.

What do you mean nothing else?

8 pages about Ricardo

17 pages about Hobbs and that will get hysterical from about 4pm onwards.

They are both loans.... so fall under the same category (OK I'm stretching it a bit with Hobbs).

considering Sven's position (joining mid way through the season) I think he's playing it brilliantly. By having loans there is no obligation to keep these players on the books (& more importantly wages) if things dont work out. He then has the whole summer to shape a team ready for another crack at the championship & this will likely see permanent signings through the door.

And if we do get promoted we might be able to keep the players we currently have on loan, but if that isn't the case then it won't be that big of a problem as we'll be in the Prem & it'll be easier to attract better players.

If he can persuade quality players to join us in the Championship, just think what he could do when we're in the Prem.

I appreciate that, and I'm sure Leicester and Sven don't want the rest of the world to know how much money they have to throw around, so it is in the interest of the club to keep it quiet, but it does make it difficult as a fan to follow all these numbers being bandied around with rumours rife from the media and other fans and nobody knowing what is true and what isn't.

Who is using it as a stick to beat the manager with? I have not read a single criticism or accusation or anything in this thread that is negative about Sven. There are concerns that come the end of the season we will have a very thin squad, but we all know that without the loan players we wouldn't be where we are now. That doesn't change the fact that it could be an expensive summer for us.

Stretching it even further with Ricardo who has not been loaned but signed on short term contract.

We don't know how much pressure Sven is under behind the scenes as he's the coolest calmest character in football???

Sven is a proffesional, he will put himself under his own pressure
